Quote:Totally agree with this assessment.Of the new trials, TPN will likely be on "auto-farm" within a week or two while Minds of Mayhem will gather dust until the Devs take a look at some of the mechanics (blue patches PLUS no hospital PLUS punitive rez mechanics) or increase rewards for MoM.
Have been on one MoM which succeeded, out of three tries. Have to say it, MoM is right on up there with Keyes as far as unpleasantness. Not AS BAD as Keyes - I'll grant you that much, but almost as bad. I have no intention of trying it again for a long time.
If its not being locked in the hospital for an eternity of time "for your own safety," [pfffft] its NO hospital at all. Who comes up with this tripe? Seriously. -
Quote:The problems start when we can't touch the keyboard at all, for fear of doing the wrong thing. I'm all for strategy, but I don't call being hamstrung "strategy." That's just me though.Wait, there's a trial you can't just faceroll on the keyboard and win?
*shock*
Oh well, I'm sure word will spread quickly enough and we'll be back to running BAF and Lambda.
And yes..... we'll be seeing BAF as usual after another few days of people becoming frustrated. I can't repeat some of the language I saw in League chat after a failure yesterday. People are very wound-up about this stuff. -
Quote:Yes, this was done in the two TPNs I ran as well. The problem is, there are relatively few sets which specialise in single target attacks; I can tell you that [for instance] my Plant 'troller has.... none. I guess if I pulled Brawl back onto his trays, he'd have one. Wow. Brawl against level 54s.My favorite character for incarnate trials is my Crab Spider, and he doesn't even have enough single-target attacks to make an attack chain. Still, when we were doing the TPN last night, after some trial and error, we divided the raid up into an outside team for the Telepathists and two inside teans for clearing the terminals, where AoEs are still just fine.
I'm not bothered by the idea that different trials require different skills and tactics.
As a result, there was much complaining that not enough people were cleaning up outside - because few people qualified to be on the ST team. I sure wasn't going out there only to make a slip and be yelled at, I can tell you.
To be honest, I had little if any idea what was going on. Into this building, kill everything, into that one, kill everything, back over here, back over there etc. It was like a mini Shard TF! Same thing over and over again.
Truly: meh. Nice badges I guess.... BAF is looking pretty good right now. So's UG, despite the binary nature of the lichen WW. -
Quote:Am all for everyone having a useful role.Agreed, when will the devs finally cease their relentless campaign against aoe? Finally we get some new trials and there's a glimmer of hope that for once something other than single target will be valued in City of Heroes, but alas. More aoe persecution. Getting fed up with it myself.
What I question is having to sit on my hands for half the Trial.
Frankly I would'nt want to be ST either; one slip, one civilian hit and let the rage begin. Ugh. -
Yeah, I'm "incarnate."
I enter a trial. OK, no AoEs! ST here, ST go there, AoE people just support 'cause we can't kill X which has one HP.
NO DAMAGE AURAS, who attacked a civilian by accident!!! RAAAAAGE!
I don't know, this does not feel all that Incarnate to me. It feels like things are being taken away from us, not added.
Not to mention the sheer level of temper I am seeing. If these trials fail, so much anger and people being blamed and insulted in League chat. Shameful. -
Quote:This has been increasingly common lately, and I despise this mindset so much I can't even tell you. I have one-starred more than one recruiter over it.
heroic: I just tried to join a trial with my level 50 support character, and was turned down because I was too low a character. The trial leader had asked me my level, which I assumed meant they were checking to make sure someone below 50 didn't join the league. I was apparently wrong - I never heard back from the trial leader, and no, the Trial league was not full. They continued recruiting for the Trial league.
Sometimes the leader of the league is cool, but then someone in the league starts complaining that not everyone present isn't at least +2. Hate. So. Much.
If people want to do this, they should be running private trials with their SG or coalition,. or whatever. Don't start this crap on a PuG. -
Quote:*bzzzt!* WRONG AGAIN!But that's what you are saying. You're equating gender neutral clothes with scrubs.
What I meant by that is that I don't want to wear clothes that I wear every day, here in the game.
Mnay here seem to want to dress in CoX, just like they do in real life, all modest and proper-like. Different strokes and all that.... but I don't want to. This game is an escape for me, I'd rather dress like Desdemona than I do in real life - however there seems to be a movement afoot to get the developers to stop making all those naughty, woman-exploiting bits like the Gunslinger stuff, and make it all boring and gender-neutral. This is what worries me. I hate the idea of that. -
Quote:This.Meh.
Not sure why, I just have no interest in Titan Weapons.
Bring on Staff Fighting I say!
Til then, have fun everyone.
As soon as we get Staff Fighting, I will recreate my staff character from that other game taking place in Metropolis, etc, over here. I've been missing her, but don't want to play that game.
She won't have that awesome tattooed skin that they have over there [sigh] but otherwise I can 98% recreate her.
I don't care for the look of these huge weapons, but those of you who do, have at it. -
QR: I only wish gratz was dead. Its particularly funny when people are continually gratzed while being PLed in a farm. Congratulations?! If anyone is congratulated it ought to be the person running the farm!
What noble achievement does this denote? Meh. Gratz is good for level 50, if you ask me. Which you didn't, but just saying. -
There's no hidden meaning at all, the concept is very simple: people often use the pretext of a joke to say what they really think, in a socially-acceptable construct. Its a way to take the edge off of harsh or otherwise unacceptable statements.
-
Not sure where I said leather chaps and scrubs were "the same thing." I'd suggest not leaping quite so far ahead of what's actually being said; you have me making all these wild statements that never actually came out of my keyboard.
-
Quote:...Are you literally insane? Sometimes I wonder.Silence!
I kill your fleshy *** dead! Meatsack!
I still fail to see why people seem to be insisting on the extremes, when, in the other thread, people are trying to edge it more towards 'A bit of both'.
I am of the school of thought that holds jokes are the socially-acceptable method of saying what one REALLY thinks. I evaluate all such statements as yours carefully, just sayin'. -
Quote:This forum's insistance on *only* mundane statements is pretty funny. One must be as sober as a judge [moodwise, not speaking of imbibing] at all times, and puctuation must be perfect. But regardless.... that's a pretty low blow.
Rian: Also, you are calling someone on hyperbole? mr. steampunk pack is an "utter failure in design"? Your use of hyperbole is on the exact same level as bad's, your posting styles are actually amazingly similar. I'd say I'm much less hostile and dogmatic, but I am sure opinions differ.
As for those who want to dress their toons in utter, completely-clothed seriousness since they're mothers now [which is what I took away from someone else's post], go for it. Your toons belong to you, not me.
Just understand that not all of us want to do that. I wear scrubs every day.... don't want to do it in CoX. -
-
Quote:Please use quotes around things I have actually said, or at least state that you're speaking hypothetically; I didnt say what you have in quotes above."It's ALL going to suck, all of it from now on, NO exceptions, and it's all your fault!" sounds pretty hyperbolic to me.
But yeah, when you go up to a hornet's nest and give it a few good whacks with a stick, you own what comes out. My understanding is that Noble Savage himself admitted that if they're going to start 'porting everything male over to the female bodyform, that would leave less wiggle-room for female specific pieces. I'd love to be wrong, but I could swear that's what I saw. -
Original poster, you oughtta be a villain. Its horrible.
Fort Darwin belongs to Longbow now. Fortunata Kalinda and Arbiter Diaz are both gone from their plinths. Perhaps they are still somewheres in the zone.... I don't have the heart to search.
Fort Darwin belonging to Longbow is like Al Quaeda taking over the White House: its just wrong on so many levels. I almost wanted to stage an Occupy Fort Darwin. -

Quote:*raises brows* Condescending little thing, ain'tcha?
raven: If after that you still don't get all this, please just say exactly that and nothing more, and I'll drop this personal line with you. I'm still feeling like I'm talking to a wall wtih you and I have no intentions of doing so all day.
Its ok, Selina has already schooled you so I won't pick this apart sentence by sentence. Suffice it to say I find your logic to be BEYOND hugely faulty, and your attitude non-conducive to changing minds.
Purchase all of these pestiferous Packs that you please; myself and many others are going to decline. Why? Because sometimes, you got to vote with your wallet, and this is definitely one of those times. If we let this get by, EVERYTHING will be up for a roll of the dice and HOW ABOUT NO THANK YOU. -
Quote:Well, I've been here since 2006, and others have been here even longer than that. Had you been here all along, you'd have seen that things are way less unbalanced than you believe.I should probably clarify for my post, I started at the "Going Rogue" expansion, so for me, yes it was in my eyes sexy after sexy after sexy.
But don't worry, we have it covered now. *cue the three-piece business-suit for females, with a cute little bow on the lower back of the jacket* Puns fully intended.
*heaves a big sigh....* -
I see that the concept of sarcasm is lost on you.
Regardless, since the developers have limited resources for costume development and some of you - such as yourself - decided to speak for *everyone* and got said developers to promise we'd be getting many fewer things for females that males cannot ALSO wear, in the future.... thank God for Gunslinger. I have a feeling those will be the last truly feminine costume pieces we are going to see for many a long day.
Nice going. Thanks. -
Quote:Good lord, its going to be City of Evangelicals next. We'll all have to have pants or knee-length skirts on our female alts, or risk getting reported.send your thank you notes to the politically sanctimonious for that little gem, i love when people shove their politics into my fun, dont you?
"HI GM, there's this chick under the giant atom statue in Cap Au Diable wearing a mini, DOOOOOOO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!" [send report]
Meanwhile that stupid leather-straps-and-bare-chest-with-nipple-rings top for men will still be ok. Ha. -
Quote:What part of "getting out of bed or breathing do not require monetary purchases, but buying these silly packs DOES" are you immune to?me: [getting out of bed does not require a monetary purchase to complete.]
No it doesn't, but your failing to comprehend me. See next...
This is not a non sequiter, actually. I am stating for a fact that everything in life is a gamble not for comparison but to open your eyes that you gamble every minute of every day just by being alive. So if you hate gambling, you hate living.
Quote:me: [*turns up nose at having to gamble for costume pieces*]
raven: Overly entitled, much?
Quote:No, it's not that, it's the idea of people, many of whom are wise and reasonable most of the time, being petty and close minded that upsets me.
Quote:We already agree to disagree. Like I said, I don't care THAT we disagree, I care WHY we disagree.
Well, I pass through the Golden Giza every now and then, but you get my drift. If you like to gamble, have at it.
-
Quote:....Except that it rather feels like that's exactly what's happening. I for one welcome our new City of Androgyny, since it means there will more cash in my pocket.Starting a new thread over this really makes it look like you're trying to spin the issue into "they want to take away my attractive costumes", which isn't actually what anyone is asking for.
I'll cherish the nice female costume pieces that we have now, and look forward to more.... er..... whatever.... more 'ported-from-male-bodyform pieces with bows on them to denote that they are female, as someone in the other thread suggested that the developers so. *facepalm* Ugh. -
Quote:Getting out of bed does not require us to purchase the opportunity to do it. Failure of comparison.Oh, I see, it's the gambling aspect of it you don't like. Well, that's too bad your alive, then. Why? Because everything in life - EVERYTHING - is a gamble, with greater or lesser odds that something will go wrong. Up to and including breathing, or getting out of bed.
Quote:You know this, too, even if you refuse to admit it. Everyone here has had a day where they bemoan having gotten out of bed that morning.
Quote:So the gambling thing? Still a copout. Still hypocrisy. And frankly, it's also dissapointing to see some otherwise reasonable people acting like 5 year olds turning their noses up at a dinner dish that's not even finished cooking.
Quote:Where's the open minds, eh? Just think you can turn that virtue off and not get caught? Um, no, not with me around. And to be absolutely honest, I don't really care if you hate the super packs, or me for pointing this out. What I care about is the mentality that you people can act like this, when the reality is that it's a really narrow close-minded view and some of those here acting like this have been vocal in the past against this very sort of behavior.
Quote:So admit that you're being hypocrites and I'll drop this. After that I'll be able to actually respect that you dislike this offering, because at least then you'll be visibly honest about it.
*massive snippage*
My name is Raven Lord, and I disapprove this hypocrisy.
We'll have to agree to disagree. -
No, wrong. Not everyone sees it like that; a "constant deluge of corsets" is delightful, after having waited for them literally years and years.
Corsets make the art team "look bad"?! I don't see it, sorry.
Starting to think there's some truth to the old saw that if the developers started passing out twenty-dollar bills, people would fuss because they were not in sequential order.
