While I missed this week so I could enjoy the geek-tastic activities of WonderCon, the Superteam forged ahead with Serious Business!: arcs with non-comedy themes.
Only 2 mishes this week as they were both 5 missions each!
#137269 "Sea Change" by @Brick the First
5 Mish, Heroic
#482914 "Black as Midnight by @SupaFreak
5 Mish, Heroic
From what I've gathered, both arcs were well crafted and well received. Give 'em a run yourself and have some serious fun!
Next Sunday (4/10/11): Hopefully we can pry enough people away from the new issue content for a classic High Roller! Bring your list of favorite arcs and /e dice as the highest roller picks the mish! -
Good to see you guys kept the spirit alive!
Next Sunday (4/10/11), since a new issue just dropped let's keep it simple and do a good, old-fashioned High Roller! Come with a list of favorite arcs and your lucky /dice emote -
Sorry to hear you won't make it, Dr G, you can still join us if you wish. You don't have to type
And welcome aboard, Rayonn!! Thanks for the help -
How'd it go this weekend? Was it "seriously" awesome?!? WonderCon was!

Thanks again, everyone, and happy crafting -
Most of mine have already been mentioned:
Authority
Planetary
Strangers in Paradise
Batman Beyond
Y: the Last Man
Top 10
Unmentioned:Poison Elves - could be the BEST thing to happen to fantasy movies...ever.
This list can go on and on...
Yotsuba& - I'd prefer it as an anime series but a CGI movie would RAWK the all-ages scene with hypercuteness!!
Ignition City - future cowboy steampunk dystopia? What's not to love?
Gundam 0079 - the Star Wars of giant robots, how this hasn't happened yet is forever a mystery to me
Runners - sure, we've already had Firefly & Serenity, but it's still an awesome story
Groo: the Wanderer - forget the Conan reboot, we want mulch!
Astro City - duh
Atomic Robo - for science!!!
The Sword - action, humor, gore and super powers! muwahahah!!

Johnstone and anyone else that's been waiting til the last minute:
Today is the last day to enter the contest!
Don't think you have enough time? Sure you do.
Just pop a couple inspirations and get crackin'! Good luck! -
It's okay, cuz Martian Manhunter's origin can be revealed in the movie. Afterall, he IS the heart of the team.
-
Ewww!! I like her in the shiny pants better than the mix/match of shiny & fabric.
And I'm kinda diggin' the new boots(from a link in the other thread):

That's great, even if you can't be an ambassador the more players the better
As for the Server Author theme, it seems I'm the only one in love with that idea so we'll dump it. My only concern with doing "Best of's" is I don't want the core MA Superteam to get bored by playing the same ones over and over.
We've been having good luck with our weekly themes (knock on wood). We could just keep doing those or we could leave it up to each weekly Ambassador to choose how they'd like to run their week. I'm flexible -
BTW, if you're not part of the regular MA Superteam but would still like to join in and be an Ambassador for your server, let me know. Part of the point of this event is opening our door to new members so please come in
-
Yeah, Zam, my initial thought was to play thru some of those and see if there were any noteworthy arcs. Bubba noted that a lot of them were older, but I still maintain it's a great place to start
I've added you to the list for Ænvasion week 3!
As for levelling, we'll be at least level 30 (since that's the minimum level of all my alts on diff servers) but I'm still willing to make runs the week before for anyone who wants to get a few levels before the Ænvasion. Just not on Tuesdays cuz that's my WST night -
Note: this thread is for planning of the Ænvasion Event, for general info and player feedback, please see this thread in Player Events.
For too long the Mission Architect Superteam experience has been limited to the Triumph Server. Too long have our pleas to the server's limited masses to join in the adventure and wonder we uncover each week gone unanswered. And too long have non-Triumph Ænthusiasts shied away...too uncomfortable to stray from the safety of their home servers.
The time has come to change this. The time has come for "Ænvasion!"
The last few weeks the MA Superteam have been talking about having a multi-week, server-hopping event. The basic concept is simple: each week we run our weekly Mission Architect meeting on a different server til we've hit 'em all.
Bubba's already taken the idea to Pinnacle and expanded upon it, starting up a Pinnacle Chapter that will run on different days! But I'd still like to go forward on the original concept of a server a week. This thread is the place to figure out how best to pull that off and brainstorm ways to improve the idea.
I was thinking, first, we start a thread on the target server 1 or 2 weeks out from the event, outlining the basic Ænvasion concept and looking for interested players & authors.
This gives us time to gauge interest on the server, fine tune any scheduling conflicts, and prepare a list of arcs to play that weekend.
I was also thinking we could have MA Ambassadors, chosen from the AE Community, take up the reigns for their server's Ænvasion.
If anyone would like to volunteer to be an Ambassador, please let me know your Server, Global, & Date you'd prefer to Ænvade so I can add ya to the roster! Bubba and I have alts on every server so we can fill in any that are missing.
Ambassadors:Pinnacle: @Bubbawheat (4/17/11, 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Other ideas I'd like to bounce off the group:
Justice: @Backfire (4/24/11, 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Victory: @Zamuel (5/1/11, 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern)
Infinity: @Rayonn (5/8/11, 530pm Pacific/830pm Eastern-time is approx, will follow RWZ raid/s) and P.E.R.C.!
Guardian: @SupaFreak (5/15/11, 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Virtue: @Bubbawheat (5/22/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Liberty: @Lord of Storms (5/29/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Champion: @Backfire (6/5/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Protector: @Backfire (6/12/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Freedom: @Backfire (6/19/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Triumph: @Zamuel (6/26/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern)
Defiant EU: @Backfire (7/3/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern/5pm BST)
Union EU: @Backfire (7/10/11 9am Pacific/Noon Eastern/5pm BST)
Should we gather arcs from each Server's authors to consider for play each week?
Let me know your thoughts! I think this can be a fun event and should at least prove to be an interesting experiment
-update: Going with Ambassador-chosen 'best of' arcs instead to showcase arcs each server has been less likely to have already played. We'll save the Server Author idea for a diff event.
Should we give out prizes to encourage participation?
-update: I am giving out random, unannounced door prizes to new players, inf and recipes from Hero Merit rolls & my base storage.
If members would like to make an alt on an Ænvasion server, we could set up a couple nights in the 2 weeks prior to team up and help level them a bit. Level pacting would be very useful here.
-update: I am dedicating at least 1 night per week to this, if interested, send me a PM or in-game global @backfire
Should we rename the Ænvasion groups to "AE Superteam" or something similar to avoid confusion with Martial Arts Superteams (most players associate MA with the powerset, not Mission Architect.)
-update: I have been using the name, "AE Storyteam" instead and it seems to work much better. No confusion with Martial Arts and players are curious what a "Storyteam" is
Any other brainstorms? -
You can always send 'em a PM. Of course, with i20 hot on the stove you may not get a reply anytime soon.
Calling out Devs on posts is actually against forum policy. -
Hey all, there's 4 days remaining in my Create a Logo for the Crafter's Cafe Contest and I realized I never even clued you all in >.<
If you want a shot at some in-game prizes and a mission cameo, get your entry in by Thursday!
Here's the entries so far:
Good luck!! -
Great idea!! I'm not sure what keywords to use to find those, though...
Are you making the list? I can go thru my 'best of' playlist and rattle off some arcs for ya if you need. -
Mmmmm...I love the smell of fresh sarcasm in the morning
-
Yay! It's nice to see someone venturing into AE looking for stories
Most players I know frown upon Farming but it's not against the rules unless they're exploiting a bug. It's kind of a necessary evil to having the ability to craft our own arcs. Charging for Farm runs is no big deal, if I were PLing someone I'd expect something out of it, too. It's when they start charging real life money that they cross a line.
Just FYI- Atlas AE is going to be the least likely place to find players looking for AE stories. Doubly so if you're playing on Freedom.
If you want to find AE enthusiasts, join the MA Arc Finder global channel or your server's general PUG/Teaming channel and specifically say you're looking to run AE missions for story, not XP/Farming. You'll also have much better luck putting the team together yourself, rather than waiting for someone else to form one.
Have fun and happy gaming! -
Another good turnout and another fun set of arcs this weekend as we welcomed spring with an Æpril Fools theme: arcs with pranks or comedic twists.
#91908 "I hacked the AE Corp mainframe! Try and stop me!" by @K9
3 Mish, Neutral
#1072 "Fool Me Once" by @Longshot
5 Mish, Heroic
#1140 "Catastrophic Betrayal" by @Atiaxi
5 Mish, Villainous
While none of the arcs were directly about April Fools, they all featured pranks or pranksters and were well crafted!
I hacked the AE Corp Mainframe pits you against an evil hacker who makes you solve his riddles to save AE and the city's AE players. The contact had a classic prankster personality, the riddles were challenging & creatively solved via AE mechanics, and the author actually had a meta-lesson that pointed out a feature of the nav bar I never knew existed! Challenging, educational, and fun! Best Riddles
This Æpril Fool's load up some laughs and play thru some pranks in AE!
Fool Me Once is another riddle-ladden prankster arc but this time with a bit more story and a lot more action. Beware, making the wrong choices on this arc could lead to a LOT of pain. MOST CHALLENGING
I thought the Superteam would enjoy the riddle challenges, but it was Catastrophic Betrayal that took home Best Overall Arc for the week! (as well as BEST CUSTOMS) A refreshingly villainous story where the player is the prankster and pulls the wool over the all-too-trusting citizens of Paragon City. Great characters, concept and ties to canon. You'll like it..."trust me."
Lots of Honorable Mentions this week and not a Rick Roll in the bunch. I pity the fool that doesn't play them:
#491730 "CoX Farmville Beatdown 2011" by #SupaFreak
4 Mish, Neutral
#385714 "Dreck's Guide to Senseless Mayhem and You" by @Arco Faust
5 Mish, Villainous
#137063 "Silver Age Shenanigans" by @Firetap
1 Mish, Heroic
#189073 "Freakshow U" by @Lethal Guardian
1 Mish, Heroic
Next Sunday (4/3/11): I'll be at WonderCon so it's another TBD Weekend! Bubba or Fred will take up the reigns and lead you on a few arcs of fun. Will they choose High Roller? Random Roulette? or something totally different?!? There's only 1 way to find out...be there! -

Quote:That one IS a fav and one I've recommended to players before! Great addition to the April Fools listI've heard good things about arc 2595, the Extadine Lab. Of course, that's because it's mine and I get all the feedback, and a lot of it is good.
You probably already played it though. -
Notable arcs from the 25 or so I played thru this week. This is the list I'll be using for Sunday's MA Superteam meet-up

(note: I'd already played WN's "A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed! 2010" Arc ID: 375018 so I didn't include it in this weekend's playlist, but it's definitely an arc worthy of the theme!) -
Cookie Monster/Metalocalypse voice FTW.
Good tip on the Safeguard disarm fire bombs by keeping 1 enemy alive, but I always free the PPD minions on the way to stop a breakout. It's just more heroic that way and they're good at drawing the alpha instead of me -
IIRC "Beer" was not our best week >.<
How about a call for Pinnacles best arcs? I'm sure there's authors here looking for plays & feedback.
