Redman, you bring up a good point and one I've been trying to figure out a solution for recently.
Players are "reward motivated." So, depending on what you consider a "reward" your enjoyment in AE will vary.
For example:Personally, I consider AE to be end-game content. I have multiple level 50s and I've played just about every canon story arc, either on my way up or via Ouroboros. So, XP and Tickets are just extra fluff that I don't really pay attention to. For me, AE is a wealth of new content for my maxed characters to enjoy. The "reward" of AE is a good, fun story.
I'm curious, would you be more apt to play a story-driven arc if you knew approx how many tickets it rewards up front? What if the rewards were less than a farm's? How much less would be acceptable?
But for the majority of players, I realize they want something more tangible: XP & Tickets. This is why farms are so popular, they maximize the XP & Ticket rewards for time spent.
I'm toying with the idea of pushing for a standard TPM (Tickets Per Mish) tag to add into arc descriptions that appeal to ticket-motivated players. Of course, how I would calculate it and what would be a baseline standard are still up in the air. It's just a concept for now. -
The AE Storyteam that usually meets weekly on Triumph is branching out and Ænvading other servers for the next few weeks. Each week we're hosting a simple, fun AE team up to run non-farm AE arcs and share our unique brand of fun with other AE Enthusiasts or players interested in trying out something new!
We meet in the RWZ AE building so it's co-op and all levels & ATs are welcome to join.
Infinity native, Rayonn will be helping to lead the teams and prepare some fun arcs to play. With some input from Infinity players already, we've scheduled the Ænvasion for Sunday at 830pm Eastern/530pm Pacific to account for the weekly Mothership Raid.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, post here and let us know. If you have any questions, we'll be happy to answer. We look forward to playing with ya!
tl;dr version:
What: Story-driven AE teaming
About us: The AE Storyteam is a group of players, and authors, who meet every weekend to run AE story arcs and search out the best AE has to offer! We've developed our own unique brand of AE teaming where we share all the contact dialog with the team and take our time to read and experience as much of each story as we can. We're always looking for new members who have a passion for playing & creating AE arcs!
Who: Open to all players (any level or AT)
Where: AE Building in Rikti War Zone, Infinity
When: Sunday 5/8, 830p Eastern, 530p Pacific
Why: For FUN! -
Thank you Victory for an exciting day of AE story arcing! Today was week 3 of the Server Ænvasion event and our biggest turnout yet! Zamuel took up the mantle of Ambassador and led a dual team League of Ænthusiasts thru 3 fun arcs.

The Instant Lair Delivery Service was a great, quick 1 mission arc to get the ball rolling. If you've ever wondered how a villain group is able to set up shop in a warehouse you JUST cleaned out in under 5 seconds, check out this fun meta humor mission with detailed NPCs and creative ties to forum jokes and lore! This arc gets my BEST CONCEPT award for the week!
A big thanks again to Victory for our largest turnout yet! We appreciate the support and hope you enjoyed the arcs as much as we did
Next up was a classic arc that is very lowbie-friendly. Bricked Electronics brings the CoV enemy group, the Gold Brickers, to Paragon City and fleshes them out into a real threat for heroes! This is a very richly detailed arc with lots of clues to discover and plenty of sharp dialog. It has a very "organic" feel as the missions aren't your typical 'delivery boy' plots and are filled with characters that have their own motivations. It's worth a replay or 2 just to catch all the small bits you miss on a single run! MOST DETAILED and BEST OVERALL
And finally, Zam picked a Dev Choice arc to wrap things up! The 15+ Minute Tutorial, while a bit dated, is still chock full of great tips for players new to playing AE arcs or writing them! Both humorous and informative, if you take the 15 minutes to run through you're sure to pick up something useful! I heard quite a few "Oh, I didn't realize you could do that!"s while we ran it...and those were from experienced players & authors! MOST CREATIVE
Next Sunday (5/8/11): the Ænvasion! continues!! Join us on Infinity Server at the AE Building in Rikti War Zone at a special time: 530pm Pacific/830pm Eastern (following the RWZ Mothership Raid. Remember, all levels and ATs are welcome to join so feel free to make an alt on Infinity and see us there! -

Yeah, our LCS in Chico, CA jumped in the 2nd print run, too. Talked with the owner today and he said it's some of the best advertising he's done yet. Got him a lot of free pub on the local news. Should be a hot seller at next week's Free Comic Book day, too

Yeah, Zam reported that arcs are still being mislabeled as violations as well. *crossing fingers for a Tuesday patch at the latest*
-
I wouldn't have a problem with the new League chat sound if it didn't sound like a digital rabbit dropping 'jelly beans'.
-
I think you're gonna be out of luck until next patch.
I can confirm some arcs are still working, but it's going to be trial and error til a fix goes live. -
Awww...too slow on the Carnie code
Fantastic layout and concept! Great mag -
Naw, I don't need to hit a trainer; it's just slots. Fire up the next mish!!
Happy 7th CoH! -

Above him a huge window showed the Earth rotating slowly outside. He didn't care. This was his personal orbiting space station and he'd seen that view a million times before. -

Hope this gets patched before our Sunday Ænvasion of Victory Server.

I had this same idea when AE first came out but you posted it so much better than I ever could have.
ALLEZ...CREATE!! -
Wow. This CAN'T be WAI. Anyone PM Dr. A or a Community Rep?

The command "/league" can now be used as an alias to send chat to the League channel. -

If we're limited to just 1 this year it's going to be a tough choice. Awww, who am I kidding? It's gonna be Atomic Robo...if they actually ordered it >.< -
Awesome character, Neuronia!! Love to find fellow Friends of Old Kings Row
-
Talk about getting a birthday avalanche on FB...

Zam, thanks for coming to the Justice Ænvasion yesterday can't wait to see what you have lined up for Victory!
I just posted a recap of the Ænvasion so far in the Player Events thread if anyone wants a taste of what to expect -
Heads up: I've started a thread in the Players Events subforum for the general public to follow the Ænvasion Event with.
Feel free to link to the new thread when promoting the event on your server. That way they don't have to wade thru our planning to get to the meat of it all. -
Thank you Justice and especially Justice United! Despite the Easter holiday there was a good turnout for this Sunday's Justice Server Ænvasion event! Today I took up the mantle of Ambassador and chose a few of my favorites to share with my home server.

We kicked things off with a quick, fun favorite: Teh Freakshow Artz Club. It's an older arc but has really stood the test of time as the humor, characters and fighting Freakshow never gets old! You got a taste of what reformed Freaks would be like in City of Villains, try out this arc and discover what happens when Freaks get creative! This arc gets my MOST FUN award for teh week!
These arcs were a lot of fun and I enjoyed sharing AE the way it was meant to played with our friends on Justice. Hopefully they'll join us again or at least pop in and play some arcs on their own!
Next up was a newer arc that is very lowbie-friendly, Unfair Trade. If you are familiar with the lore characters, Flambeaux and Polar Shift (from the Hero Tip arcs), then you will especially enjoy this spin on their early encounter with your villain and how you may have helped set them on their eventual paths! A fairly serious revenge arc with a little bit of humor sprinkled in and a perfect fit into existing canon! Plus, lots of clues to really flesh out the story! MOST DETAILED and BEST OVERALL
Our final arc was one I'd heard good things about and just recently took the time to play myself...One Million Eyes. From the opening text, which is presented and formatted as posts on a Superhero fan forum, you will realize you are being taken on a very special and unique journey. This arc really highlights the versatility of AE stories and quickly draws you into the characters and world being created by the author.
Note: Take time to read the 'away' text from your contact, as there's incredible fun and character development in this oft-overlooked area. Worth a 2nd or 3rd play to catch any in-jokes or details you may have missed on an earlier run! BEST CUSTOMS and MOST MEMORABLE
Next Sunday (5/1/11): the Ænvasion! continues!! Join us on Victory Server at the AE Building in Rikti War Zone, 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern. Zamuel is hard at work choosing arcs for the day on his home server! Remember, all levels and ATs are welcome to join so feel free to make an alt and see us there! -
