Revistiting old A&E mish's

I recently went to the old A&E building to do some friend's player created arcs. What kind of gaming experience was A&E now? That is what I wanted to know and to check out these creative arcs. Just two players (myself and gf) set off at +3 +2. Well the arcs themselves were very creative and extremely hard as these particular arcs were meant to be, but..... the rewards for custom created characters are so far off what dev created game characters are these days that it was almost not worth the effort. We finished the arcs because they were our friends but man what a disappointment a&e has become with these custom characters. I must say that these mish's were not farms but 4 mission story arcs with great commentary and a true story line.

What makes some of the a&e mish's fun is the fact that players put their sg's toons in these arcs so you get to fight (for all intense and purposes) real PLAYERS toons. I enjoy that and enjoy a good challenge. Since the demise of a&e I think it's time the devs revisit the adjusting of tkt rewards for these types of arcs. Someone put a load of time and effort into making these arcs, so maybe...... With all the incarnated running around i'm surprised A&E hasn't blown up again with so many monster powered god like beings running around.

I only say this because some a&e farms(we all know there are still tons of them) you can get 1500 tkts in minutes and yet I got 1500 tkts total from 4 mish's with these custom toon arcs. That's just crazy and totally prevents truly wanting to do more of these. I know the perversion of the earlier A&E rules allowed for people to take advantage of custom critters but hasn't enough time gone by to revisit this? Just a thought anyway.

Take care all. : D

It's a shame, really. Just like PvP, they won't touch it for a while. The Praetorian and Incarnate content has them by the ear.

Redman, you bring up a good point and one I've been trying to figure out a solution for recently.

Players are "reward motivated." So, depending on what you consider a "reward" your enjoyment in AE will vary.

For example:

Personally, I consider AE to be end-game content. I have multiple level 50s and I've played just about every canon story arc, either on my way up or via Ouroboros. So, XP and Tickets are just extra fluff that I don't really pay attention to. For me, AE is a wealth of new content for my maxed characters to enjoy. The "reward" of AE is a good, fun story.

But for the majority of players, I realize they want something more tangible: XP & Tickets. This is why farms are so popular, they maximize the XP & Ticket rewards for time spent.
I'm curious, would you be more apt to play a story-driven arc if you knew approx how many tickets it rewards up front? What if the rewards were less than a farm's? How much less would be acceptable?

I'm toying with the idea of pushing for a standard TPM (Tickets Per Mish) tag to add into arc descriptions that appeal to ticket-motivated players. Of course, how I would calculate it and what would be a baseline standard are still up in the air. It's just a concept for now.

Craft your inventions in AE!!

Play "Crafter's Cafe" - Arc #487283. A 1 mission, NON-COMBAT AE arc with workable invention tables!

What I really would like is to play these hard player created arcs and get at least what you put into playing it and running through each mission. I mean if it's hard then should it not deserve some type of just rewards for completing it? More so then just saying "it's a friends". Realizing of course that it's hard to please everyone, but it just seems to fall short after you do these hard arcs. Other then the pleasure of playing your friends arc, I guess I would like some better rewards sure. They don't have to be off the wall just a bit more then what we get now from them if they are hard.

Tkts per mish is one idea.

Another whole part of ae just for custom arcs maybe? I'm not sure, just seeing how our server sees it or how they see ae now.

I like doing my friends arcs. Many made hard arcs because they have built nice toons that these mish's can challenge. But some are so hard and testing that yeah if I get through it why not get that Milk Shake, Instead of a glass of water. : D

The game is a reward driven game.
