Environmental Effects Request/Suggestion:
Please update all the "Dimensional Rupture" glowies in Unai Kamen's story Arc from the strange "Mystical Well" to a graphic of an actual vortex as seen in Heroside Reichsman TF, the Defeat Snaptooth mission from DJ Zero, and/or the Stop the Banished Pantheon from Contacting the Spirit World mission from Tobais Hanson (I think).
Thank you for your time.
Edit: Updated my Signature to include this thread. -
While I agree, I can understand why they can't bring in Spark blade, at least as anything beyond an immobile, unfought NPC.
Spark Blade's powers would require unique animations with him firing a single pistol from his left hand (single pistols are right handed) and using a right handed katana (the animations for such has not been in game since Katana got its own animations), combined with them having unique power attributes of lethal/energy with -end and possible -def, and all that just seems like too much work for a single NPC unless they decided to make a Swashbuckling assault set, which would still be a lot of work to make unique powers/animations for a single AT.
i've always imagined that if a Japan zone was ever made, he'd be the perfect character to appear there.
Rose Star though, who appears to be a tanker or scrapper with no unique powers, has no such excuse as her boyfriend. -
Quote:On this train of thought, also notice how anytime you use a knockdown power, enemies take falls HARD. In my experience in martial arts, taking a fall like most enemies from standing height alone can leave you down for the count for the count for a decent while, possibly even incapacitated if you forgot to breath out. But maybe I'm just a wimp.I dunno. Maybe we should ask Knockout Blow or Repel.*
*Knockout Blow Makes them fly upwards. They take damage from the punch, but not when they hit the ground after. Repel violently flings them away from you but no damage is done
That, and realism is tough to implement in this game's universe.
Either way, Vanden's got a bit of a point here. Also, I can vouch that in some my own experiences with levitate and lift, the damage does lag after the fall. Though this maybe the result of them hitting something else on the way down.
Edit: Also, keep in mind that enemies that might be resistant/immune to KB still take damage from these two powers regardless. -
Now to play a bit of devil's advocate for Vaden, I still want to know, if the damage from Levitate and such are supposed to be purely from hitting the ground, shouldn't knockback enhancments, which would increase the height which they fly and fall affect damage.
And how are flying Enemies affected when there's not even a -fly component which causes them to hit the ground?
But ultimately, this might mean that these powers should deal two ticks of damage. one from the throw, and another from the 'drop'.
but now i'm just nitpicking and experiencing a 'fridge logic' moment. -
This is quite a relief, though now part of me wonders if that expansion of Steel Canyon that's seen on the city map of the Good Versus Evil Edition is finally going to make its appearance?

I think they're saving it until issue 21, hopefully so we can get the back pieces too, and it'll kind of compliment the the addition of backpacks from the steampunk booster.

Quote:Let's not go into what happens when you slot for higher KU in those powers. This is real physics, not a movie. I don't care how convinced you are you're being shot, you can't give yourself a hysterical bullet wound and cough up blood.
There's not enough data to find that number. Plus enemies fly the same distance whether they're a 5-foot tall flesh and blood hellion or a 7-foot tall steel and plastics Freak tank.
But if I had to put a value on it, I'd say "enough force over a wide enough area to cause scale .8 smashing damage and give you 1.5 seconds of air time." -

Quote:That's kind of pointless, but still kind of cool and interesting, if only because of the technology its made from.
The real beef I have with it is that if you're relaxed a lot, the ears end up always drooping, and that's not how cat ears function in Real Life or in Anime, and the overall lack of range of emotions displayable. -
Surely the only right thing to do is an OT3. Don't worry ladies, there's enough brilliance to go around.
-
I'm hoping for more coming in the next issue. You know, like a booster pack, but we don't have to buy anything other than our regular subscription fees.

Sounds like the running joke b/w Pos and Sora in my story about 'scientific investigation'.

Quote:He didn't say it was a GOOD idea. You need to remember: some villains are just THAT damn arrogant. Hell, if you're biblically savvy, I think you might recall a certain angel who's pride told him he could beat God.So you think it's be easier solo against the forces that just wiped out every signle superpowered person on the planet?
And really, this is a sensible (but at the same time insane) thing for any villain to try, it's lack of a route in the story does highlight how it can feel like paths are limited.
For an alternate hero path, I would bring to mind a hero who would prefer to slip into Praetoria and attempt to turn the populous against the Cole Regime, staying longer than just a few minutes for a trial. Think Assassin's Creed II: Brotherhood. -
-
I am certain there are people in Pompeii who breath a sigh of relief when you karate kick clouds of ashes and placate the volcano with with a well placed palm strike at the lava shaft.
In the end, hero, there is nothing you can do that a normal human being is incapable of but glorify violence and war, locking the human mindset of conflict in the same stagnant caves of the stone age.
Even your so-called "greatest minds" have done nothing. While Positron weeped into his helmet, Dr. Aeon and Anti-Matter discovered nigh-limitess sources of energy! -
((sorry, folks, about to go into full Villain overlord rant just because this is a good setup.))
But then who would the heroes fight? What would you stop?
Would you fight jay walkers and government dissenters? Then you are no better than Emperor Cole and his thugs, forcing a status quo and social stasis on the world and stagnating human society!
Would you fight disease and mental illness? Hah! I would love to see you save the suicidal teenager who has been abandoned by everyone with a drop kick to his face, or 'rescue' the cancer patient by punching them through walls!
Would you fight against natural disasters and nature itself? Then who is the real villain? I who oppose the laws of man, or you who would battle against the laws of nature and the very world that has provided so well for such a selfish race as humanity!
Without villains, without evil, heroes would be but lost sheep, and when not lost sheep they would be tyrants! Do you understand now why your dream of erasing evil is not only futile, but wrong? Do you understand now who is the true villain?!
Behold your true nature! God-like bullies whose only guidance in life is one violent assault after another! That is your true self! THAT IS THE LIMIT OF YOUR ABILITIES!
*Insert incarnate-like power unleash here* -

That does assume the Resistance was planned to be steampunk in the first place. I mean Praetoria seems to be strongly Cyberpunk in tone and theme with super heroes sprinkled in, and one has to ask what point or purpose would steam-powered tech have done against Cole's regime?

Quote:i know what you mean, see my thread and add your voice to the many thus far to show your support.ANOTHER new zone? Oh well...I'll keep hoping for older zones to be updated.
Considering everything that's happened in the game's story since launch? I'd the story might need more than a few of them to be looked at. -
Don't worry, this is balanced out by the fact that their guns only deal lethal damage. i mean, what's up with that? The bullets are glowing blue, they have something on them called 'a power pack' and apparently all it amounts to wildly fired lead sprays that can only hit one target with a grouping like a map of cold places in Death Valley at high noon.

Still waiting for the Tsukihimei anime.

you're thinking of "Plot threads/hooks". Plot holes are a bit different.

Quote:Funny enough I actually started a thread on this sometime back/The question posed to you was simple: If you don't find those things "epic enough," what would you propose for a storyline instead?

Quote:Yeah... Wait, what's that, level 35 Vanguard contact? The second rikti invasion has come? Oh my!Lower-level content is always assumed to chronologically precede higher-level content. If you're doing Sutter, Apex hasn't happened yet. Yes, it does tie your personal timeline in knots, but such is the nature of non-static MMO timelines.
What's that Angus McQueen at level 40? Stop the Second rikti invasion? too late for that!
And I think in the Stutter TF is expressly mentioned as happening after or at least during the Apex and Tin Mage TFs.
The continuity is weak in this game... In it's defense, continuity sucks in actual comic books as well.
