    Test Server

    1. Highlight your coh directory. Ctrl copy, ctrl paste. Rename folder to CoHTest, or leave it as Copy of City of heroes. Open copy, delete cohchecksum, highlight cohupdater and create a shortcut on your desktop. Right click shortcut, add the tag -test as is directed in the guide to getting on test.
    2. Run the shortcut, and the updater will fix the files as opposed to redownloading them.
    3. ???
    4. Profit.
  3. Sorry, didn't notice it was redside. Yeah those are significant prices.
  4. Probably the distance from their master.
  5. Meh, I wouldn't call these extremely pricey. Price em at 35 mil a pop and they'll sell.
  6. Doesn't the highest sell price go to the lowest bid/. So selling at 1inf when there are active bids ensures that the transaction is completed instantly no matter what?

I mean I think I'm missing something here.

    RANT!!

What the hell is it with old people?!

Do they think that because they're old they have a [censored] license to be rude or something?!

At work we have a 1-800 number that's literally one digit off from the old-age pension division of Human Resources Canada. So, at the middle/end of every month we get these old, [censored] codgers calling up (usually women, I'm not sure why) wanting to talk about their pension.

I always answer the phone the same way... "Flight Operations, [last name]" and what happens... ? "Yah, I recieved a letter in the mail, I haven't gotten my pension cheque... bla-bla"

WHAT PART OF "FLIGHT OPERATIONS" INDICATES TO YOU THAT I HAVE ANYTING TO DO WITH YOUR [censored] PENSION?! [u]LISTEN WITH YOUR [/i]EARS!!!![/i][u]

Then, as if that's not enough, once I make it clear to them, usually by having to say it five times that this is TRANSPORT CANADA, and not HUMAN RESOURCES CANADA (it's not even the same number of syllables for [censored] sake!!!), they then proceed to argue with me about what phone number they dialed!

If I'm lucky, they'll just hang up. No goodbye... nope, no "oops, sorry about that", nope. Just "Oh- *click*" as if it's my fault, as if somehow I've inconvenienced them.

    That's if I'm lucky...

If I'm not lucky I then have to have a 15-minute conversation with some 70-year old French-Canadian woman who sounds very much like she was rode hard and put away wet about how it's MY fault that she misdialed and answer a survey about what number SHE dialed, what number she was supposed to dial, what MY phone number is and who the hell I am.

I had one old [censored] actually ask for my supervisor because he thought I was giving him the run-around. So convinced was he in his own infallibility that it never occured to him that he dialed the WRONG [censored] NUMBER!

I swear to dog, I'm going to surround myself with honest people and if I ever get to that point where I'm a rude, self-entitled old jerk that they'll just put a bullet in my head and bury me in a shallow grave somewhere, as befitting people who are [censored].

    [/ QUOTE ]

I worked for Human Resources Canada for 4 years. not all divisions relate to pension checks. Try telling that same old woman that, yes you do work for HRC, and yes you are looking for HRC, but this is not the HRC you're looking for. Also they could actually come into MY office and yell at my face.

    Yeah.

    I work at Staples now.

My thoguht was that AE edition gave a token for a booster pack, and that the advertising mentioned the two which had been announced due largely in part to the fact that msot people can't see in 4 dimensions and so the future remains shrouded in mystery.

I overthought the situation, and after purchasing the edition, discovered my folly. It allows you to choose specifically between SB1 and 2. Having already bought them both, I'm now in somewhat of a lurch. I bought SB3, and emailed support, begging for help essentially.

If I don't get it, it's my own stupid fault, but to anyone who thought as I did reading this, you can't get SB 3 with AE edition.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thing is, even before they released the Magic Pack they already confirmed that Science was coming after it.

Plus if they were intending it to work on future booster packs they would have worded it "And get your choice of Booster Pack for FREE!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I get it, I just thought it might be otherwise and took a chance so the question would be 100% answered.

  10. Confirmed...

/me is a sad panda... and out 19.99 because I already have booster 1 and 2...

    Is it possible?

To make it so that defeating an entity fails the mission? I'd thought that there was an arc Venture reviewed in which defeating the big bad, who didn't fight back, resulted in mission failed. I'd further remembered/made up someone saying it was due to the entity being an ally set to enemy.

Am I completely missing something, or making something up? Is it possible to have an entity whose defeat by the player ends the mission in failure?

The mission I remember was a theatrical retelling of the Dark Astoria origin story.

    My turn!

To claim an extra zero, but with the first digit being what it is it gets me halfway to a billion! Clicked get inf before I even noticed the extra zero lol.

    500,000,000 Zephyr proc and me!
  13. I just finished moving, and had a look. In i15 I've 15% free space, expect an update to this arc soon!
  14. I'm sure people are quite interested in playing what it is you plan to make, but to write it... Why not just write it ourselves and take the credit?

Creation is intensly personal for some, and collaborative for others. Unfortunately it would seem the majority of players are in the former camp.

    My advice: keep it simple.
  15. I would posit that almost any modern game is an exercise in watching a little number get bigger while completing a task and adhering to a simple set of rules. Checkers, Go, Soccer and CoH follow the same fundamental system in this manner.

CoH, unlike other games, has multiple numbers to watch: AE rating, Merits, Real Numbers, surprisingly least important of all being your actual level. Your inf total is another such number.

To answer your question, I very much enjoy watching little numbers go up in accordance with my actions. I know that it's childish and simple, but it affects my sensibilities as it were.

At my night job (Staples) the management put up a board that counts how many add ons employees sell each month, which corresponds to a few contests like winning a BBQ on Fridays of each week etc. Once they did that, my sales went up because I had a little number to watch and other little numbers to compare it too. Many other employees didn't care.

There seem to be some people in society amused by growing little numbers. I am proudly among their lot.
  16. Oh and the typos, again, new son. Can't wait to correct them, thanks for the detail.
  17. I ran out of disk space, and couldn't bring myself to cut anymore... I know I know... pitiful.

I'm told i15 brings better data formatting which allows for more room, in which case you'll get your real ending. At the time I'd planned to make it a two parter, three actually with the second part focusing on Armington while we wait for Faraday to come back to life again, but I only finished the second arc before my son was born. Now it's busy busy busy.

After the launch of i15 look to the skies for a more complete ending!

And thanks for the awesome review.

FreeRAM is nice on machines that have under 2GB. They haven't updated it in a long time, so if you have more than 2GB you shouldn't have any need for it. Remove it.

Yeah that was me, just commenting on having tested the program out as a result of the OP.

Actually, the REAL answer's a little more complicated because the answer is really SORT OF....

I have an Asus 1000HA which has the same GMA 950 card that's in the Aspire and I do have CoX on it and play it sometimes.

    But there's a caveat.

The question isn't "does CoX play on the GMA 950" the question is: "is it *enjoyable* playing CoX on a machine with a GMA 950?" And therein lays the complicated part because I think it's really a personal choice depending on your circumstances.

Basically? It feels like going out on the highway with a spare tire: You *will* feel that spare wobble, you sure aren't going to be doing any speeding, and it's really not going to be the most comfortable ride you've ever had but it *will* get you where you're going.

Still, I *have* played on it and even done a couple task forces. I wouldn't recomend getting on large teams of nothing but MMs or hitting any invasions though because, the graphics card tends to gibber when there's too much going on.

Soloing's good, hitting WW's or the Black Market's just fine and even small teams work well enough. It gives a little flicker when on an inside mish once in a while (about every 1 to 3 mins) but it's largely ignorable. I *wouldn't* even *try* it though without upgrading to 2 gigs of RAM and being near an outlet to plug into. Also, switching to ethernet instead of using WiFi seems to help too and- yes, you *will* have to run at min settings for both the computer's display as well as CoX.

Still, it's doable but then again, for me, it's a trade-off. I can throw it into my purse and if I get caught somewhere I can whip it out and run a quick mish. After more then an hour though, the small screen alone tends to drive me nuts so, while I *have* played for 4+ and although it was very stable, I still prefer to use something else if I plan on doing some really long runs.

So, the answer I guess is that it's pretty much like the netbook itself- it's great as a portable alternative or as a spare but, you're probably going to want something with a little more oomph if you're looking for a primary outlet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd actually do this with the 1000HE, extended battery life, better processor, and wireless N for less than 50 bucks more.

But to the OP, an Aspire One will never do this. I work at a major computer retailer, and our ENTIRE STOCK of Aspire Ones are returns, over 30 machines out of the 40 we were shipped. Customer's opinions don't lie.
  20. Wow, with my limited tech knowledge, you've basically narrowed the problem down to RAM or MoBo, but I couldn't tell you why either would do that.

I can't really see any problem with the info listed. Sorry.

EDIT: Except, how long have you been running Freeram XP? if it was near Friday try uninstalling it. Just a hunch.

EDIT 2: Just tried Freeram, while I don't see the use of it (I have 4 G of RAM, it tells me I have 2) I can't see any problem with it that would be causing your issue.

If this is a "We told you so!" type of thread, go ahead and be proud of the fact that you turned out correct. That really isn't anything to be proud of, though, because all it meant is that your incredibly unlikely scenario turned out to be correct.

Rationally, the likelihood of things in that survey leaving the planning stage were low. You just went with the crazy option with little to go on aside from hope and turned out correct.

That doesn't really seem like something to be proud of, to me.

This is some serious sour grapes right here, and that's coming from a guy who had no conceivable opinion whatsoever. lol
