Also want to point out that the WST converting to 40 threads is a brilliant idea.
This so called solo path that isn't . . . no.
EDIT: Now EvilGeko's idea . . . THAT would be a solo path. -
Quote:LOL, TonyV is not helping himself right now.Issue: The Devs have acknowledged that, yes, ITrials are laggy right now.
You are claiming they aren't, when actually the majority, both in-game and on-forums, find they are.
The devs have pretty much said some parts of the trials are laggy and they ARE working to fix it.
It's been a while that I've seen the impersonation of an ostrich.

Quote:yay!heads up, ziwillinger confirmed that endurance costs will not increase and the buffs will not affect the caster:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...3&postcount=41 -
Quote:Zwill just confirmed it's just a buff. yay! For those who complain about being SB'd I'll just tell them to move or put them on ignore/quit the team.It says it's a QoL change. It says nothing about a cost change so I suspect it'll just be the same but, of course like it is currently, cannot stack with the same caster. That doesn't sound off balance to me.
The buffer however is still not eligible. -
Quote:Let's see what the end costs/recharges are for those powers now.Yes, I have to admit, I'm trying not to snicker at those that were particularly adamant about opposing the suggestion or demanding that the powers be nerfed if ever they were changed.
Depending on that a few of my buffers might be shelved . . . permanently. -
Quote:As much as I agree with that the WST conversions are nice, I completely find the bolded part irrelevant. You're not gonna get a "costless" conversion from one "tier" of a crafting system into the same level of another "tier". if and when you DO get that, it's generally gated in some way, either by time, by some form of item, or by being a member of a certain "crafting guild" in many games. In the case of CoH, you can use the 18 hour shard/thread convert, and the like, but you don't get a "freebie" from one "tier" (alpha) to the next "tier" (the other slots). You're not being "ripped off" nor are you being "penalized". It's actually more of a nice bonus you're even being allowed to convert mats/tiers at all, many games do not allow this.
I honestly couldn't care less what other games allow or don't. The devs should focus on what's good for THIS game. -

However they do it I'd bet more people would play MA if the missions were integrated into the tip system and if they were out in the world. If they worry about having to many missions doors out in the world, then just designate one to five of the established mission doors, as possible for authors to flag as AE doors.

Quote:Except it seems during the security review of the downtime, they didn't check their OTHER non PSN and SOE websites to make sure they were secure. You do realize that it doesn't matter how good of security Sony has at the moment these hackers are going to get through. All a hacker needs to get through any security is time and persistence. Again, the only people to blame for this crap is the hackers which is likely Anon.

Yes that title is not a joke.

It seems nearly ALL of SONY's websites for music were vulnerable. Who wants to bet US is next?

Quote:No you can't. Which is what you want. And I agree should be done. Shouldn't have to look into my chat box all the time if I can control where the floating text goes.Whoa, help me out here... you mean I can choose where those pop-up "talk" boxes appear? If there's a way, I wanna know!
What Eva was referring to is being able to put that SAME EXACT TEXT in your chat box. There is an option to add cutscene text (the floating text) into any chat box you want. -
Quote:Bleak, while I appreciate your trying "one last time," I need to echo Memphis comments. As an aside his comments are the reasons I've been actively playing other games currently. And it's one of the first times in my 6+ year history that I've ever done that.I'm finding myself echoing Eva somewhat - at the very least in attitude about some things.
I've gone, personally, from a huge proponent of AE (after all, I wrote up HOW many guides as a "tutorial" for it at AE launch?) to... well, I use it for inspirations. I just can't be bothered to write something, test it, and have it sink down underneath the next thousand "farm4xp" "gudxp" and whatnot. It's like being a trained chef, making an exquisite meal, and having people walk by and say "ooh, mcdonalds! Let's go there!"
The devs have lost interest.
It's also something I've said about *many* things. For most devs I still think my description of them as "Hyper little dog in a room full of bouncing balls" fits. "Ooh, look, over there, the AE ball, ooh, PVP change, ooh, Incarnate system, ooh, look, IO sets, ooh, new, chasedaball, ooh shiny!" Meanwhile the balls they touched are rolling off to the corner somewhere, slow, no longer interesting but covered in slobber and picking up dirt.
Or, to quote (I'll say paraphrase, as it's from memory, and while it's showing a bit of "missing the point" on revisiting old zones, I think it's a telling statement,) "We don't want to redo old, we want to give you new." Not "We don't JUST want to," but a flat "We don't want to." With an attitude like that *at the top,* what are the chances of getting them to look at "old" systems?
Bigger picture -
I need to see an attitude change OVERALL in the dev team before I can really let myself get excited over AE (or, well, most any other new system) again. I need to see them really COMMIT more than a few months lip service, at best, to a system. I need to see them say "We've heard the problems with PVP, we have datamined, we're taking these steps over the next 6 months as phase one to recitfy this, after which we data mine and take phase 2...." I need to see "Yes, the base editor is getting an overhaul. New items are getting added, and we're going to adjust scale of both size and price." I need to see "We're giving Dev Choice and Players Choice their own tabs, giving people more slots, actually paying attention to farms and promoting arcs regularly." I need to see "We're retiring old IO sets to vendors and updating new ones with what we've learned."
If I see sudden dev interest in AE, the way I see it now, I assume one of two things: One, there's an exploit they're about to smack everyone for, or two, that interest won't last out the month.
One side note, you mention earlier you doubt they have the manpower.
I almost think the studio should be trimmed more. They seemed to have more drive and energy at 15 people than they do at 60+. Maybe it's more meetings dragging things down, I don't know.
Yes, I'm cynical. It's because I was such a booster of this at launch, backed the devs even with the Posinerfs, and had such high hopes - just to see this fall into such an incredibly sad state. I don't post in here much. It's ... rough, to do so, and realize all the broken promises and wasted potential.
EDIT: As an aside I DO agree with you that we DO need more people playing the AE before NCSOFT (note, not he devs) takes it seriously enough to give the devs more money to fix it.
I DISAGREE with Eva that people seeing 2-5 patch notes a week about bug fixes or new features or a new Dev's Choice arc will get folks to play the AE more to anything significant. Double digit plays is NOT significant in this era of our NCSOFT-booster packing loving overlords.
There need to be better incentives to get the right people and good authors using the AE again.
Ofcourse it's the chicken and the egg problem that exists with PVP and bases also. Not enough people use it so not enough resources are given to improve those features. And since not enough improvements are made to those features (not enough resources devoted to them) not enough people use them! If you can solve that I'll give you a cookie. -
Quote:Plus the fact that more people playing Khelds may have lead to the decision to look into them pretty soon to see if they need any buffs. (as was mentioned in one of those marketing articles or ustreams).I just know that I, personally, find "entitlement" to only extend within the confines of a single person. "What am I entitled to," not "What am I entitled to as opposed to that other guy?" As such, I find it completely and utterly immaterial what other people have, because I don't measure success by how much more or less it is than other people, but by success own merits. As such, all I care about regarding Epic ATs is whether or not I have them. I couldn't care less if other people have them or what they did to get them. So long as I have my Epics, others can get them for free for all I care.
I find the drop to level 20 is a good thing. If more people can have the good stuff for less work, then that's a better game for everybody, as far as I'm concerned. -
Quote:I did. My point was that he's not awesome. Many folks have posted those times BEFORE incarnates. Incarnates didn't do anything that was already possible with Purples.Wow...
Do me a favor and re read the OP and explain to me how he's whining about being overpowered?!
Perhaps it would help if there was a GG winky after the question mark, to make it bluntly obvious that the title was said in a positive tone. Like
"Hey guys, look how awesome we are now!"
People need to stop assuming that the word Overpowered is a blanket statement calling for Nerfs. Nobody here called for any nerfs, just one player being proud of an accomplishment. If that accomplishment isn't impressive to you, why bother posting?
*Shrugs*
Perhaps next time the OP could avoid using the word Overpowered.
If my respsonse bothers you, why bother posting/reading/etc?
EDIT: Also he states this in the 2nd sentence of the post:
It's surprising how absolutely over-powered toons have become with the Incarnate abilities. We ran a set of Speed MO TF's, these were the times we got.
My point is that there is no surprise, as toons have NOT become overpowered with Incarnates. I don't consider abilities which can only be used for 5 levels to be overpowered, when compared to purple IO buffs which scale to level 1.
There must be some new definitions of overpowered that I'm not aware of. -
Quote:This. I'm fine with the way buffing currently works. I think it's fine to say that.I *do* hope you're not trying to make a statement that I'm generally "resistant to change." If so, (a) you don't know me and (b) you haven't been paying attention.
Good changes? No resistance.
Bad changes like this? Damn right I'm resisting. And if you don't "understand" that, go re-read. I've got a fair number of shielding characters (thermal, cold, FF, sonic.) Just off the top of my head, I could probably pull out 15-20 of them. More if we start throwing Empathy, Pain and/or Kin into the count. This change *would not be an improvement.*
As I've always said, I'd be fine if they implemented it as an OPTION to switch to a secondary version of your buffs. OPTION.
I do NOT want my buffing powers arbitrarily changed (and nerfed in some instances) just because some folks don't want to play a strategic toon.
I DESPISE "gather for whatever" type of gameplay. -
Quote:The entire thread's existence us pointless. Those times have been unimpressive since purples came out. This thread is an epic failure in reading comprehension...
*Facepalm*
Before anyone else jumps on the OP for being a whiner how about actually reading more than just the title?
Incarnates haven't done anything that wasn't already possible. Period.
If folks think they are racing through content, they can . . . UNSLOT their incarnate abilities. -
Honestly I've been on 20 minute Mowhatevers before Incarnate powers came out. Those times are not that impressive.
Hasn't been since Purples came out. -
And under the threads system gearing up alpha is actually FASTER. Yeah shards are pretty much useless. Threads drop waaaay faster, and now with the Notice to thread conversion there is absolutely no need for shards. I'd say just get rid of them already.
-
Thanks for making Notices Relevant again. And thanks for giving us a way to advance in the Incarnate system without needing to rely on the trials, or the expensive (expensive for many players not me personally) inf using conversion rates.
Great patch!
EDIT: This takes off a bit of my annoyance with the trials rewards system, as I can now effectively ignore the trials whenever I want if need be.
It also make the WST relevant again. -
A++++++
That is all.
Great Job to the art and development team. -
Quote:*not sure if serious*This is stupid advice. I'm too busy doing level 50 stuff at 50. Other people should stop doing level 50 stuff at 50 and go generate some Circuit Boards for me to buy. Why should I stop doing level 50 stuff at 50 just because I want some lower level salvage?
