If you look at the Ice Guy on the Issue 16 Overview page, his Ice Armor looks much, much more transparent than what we have now. I'm assuming he chose a darker green to do that.
Oh and also.

Heh I would LOVED a more transparent ice armor. -

You win the Internet... again.
And yes, it's working as intended. Good luck!

I have always believed we would get Power Customization. It didn't matter how hard the Devs made it sound, it didn't matter how frequently the Forum Know-it-Alls would dismiss it, I always believed it would come. Once Champions Online announced the feature, it became a question of when, not if, CoH would implement it. This feature for CoH has knocked any potential interest I had in CO from about 80% down to about 20%.
A few random thoughts:
Generally I support as many options as possible in the game but, in this case, I hope they DON'T allow customization to be turned off. Designing a character is as much for other people as myself -- it's how I want my character to be perceived. (You think I would iron my clothes every night if no one saw them?) If someone doesn't like the colors of my powers -- well, don't team with me. But they shouldn't get to decide how they view my character. I've left many a team because I found someone's costume to be a garish eyesore, but that doesn't mean I should have the power to alter how they want their character to be perceived.
I really hope Travel and Ancillary powers are made customizable. I would love to be able to make the Power Glide an icy blue for my Ice Blaster.
For now, I'm perfectly satisfied with the level of customization announced -- but I hope they continue to expand. I would love to be able to chose my emanation points -- to chose to have blasts come from my hands, or eyes, or mouth, etc. Not to mention alternate sources, for example, Radiation blasts coming from a gun or Fire blasts from a wand/staff.

Well, which is it, Yes, Correct, or Absolutely?

Which is actually the dominator.

I've been informed that my memory is awful and that it was Pohsyb's idea...So, um, yeah. He's the bestest dev evah!
My apologies for the mistake! (Is that enough? Back into your box now! Go!)

The "extra data" would be pretty inconsequential even to a modem user running at 36K.
I'm against turning off seeing custom colors, too. People are forced to see what color my underpants are, there's no reason to hide any other parts of my costume. Can you disable my pink assault rifle? My cape?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll all FOR being able to disable it.
I shouldn't be able to see your hot pink blasts if I don't want to.

If we can't turn off seeing your baby-blue-with-flourescent-pink-and-green diaper-and-bondage-mask costume, what makes you think you'll be able to turn off seeing our custom power effect colors?

That's a valid point. -

That is an awesome option. No more fill requests. I probably can get even level AVs without going Invincible from what it sounds like. That feature may be my favorite.

If they let us solo TFs/Trials the smileys will go into overload!

Very nice. I loved it. I just have one question.. Who's the Tank?

Absolutely. -
[ QUOTE ]
So filling has been around as long as the game has?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Which is why it ANNOYS the piss out of so many, and many are glad that this feature is going to be implemented. No more tells asking "can you fill". -

On another good note, I can see purples going down in price thanks to this change.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hopefully. But that depends on how they implement this. They could very well be planning on putting in some type of limit on drops.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking the same thing. Making the drop rate adjust by some ratio based on real vs 'fake' teammates.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it is risk vs reward correct? Upping the spawn size adds a substantial risk in my books. More risk = more reward.
Hopefully they see it the way I do
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I (and probably others) would still use it anyway. The ability to challenge some of your best toons in this way will be interesting. And you don't have to rely on others to set it up. -

I think the real issue of the game being "severely damaged" is that new players who have quickly leveled up quickly have unrealistic leveling expectations.
Let's face it, leveling up, getting new powers, and then trying them out is a big thrill, especially for new players. The AE levelfest that many have complained about make that thrill happen more frequently.
The big problem is, once those people go out into the regular game, leveling may be too slow and grindy for them. If they don't like it, they may quit the game. And that's not what we want.

Well there's about to be a feature or two that remedies that. -

Maybe I'm totally not remembering how things used to be but wasn't this in the game before and they removed it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
EDIT: In fact the game used to have NO difficulty slider at all. -

Let's take something that encourages grouping (whether you agree it's the wrong way or not) and remove it. Let's take something that encourages soloing and put it in.
Something's torn alright.
Ignore the snark. It seems to discourage teaming, is all I'm sayin'
[/ QUOTE ]It doesn't discourage teaming at all. It just allows those who prefer a smaller team, or even none at all, to enjoy the game more.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, how about it encourages players to team less?
[/ QUOTE ]
And once again, those folks who are farming, would not be teaming with you if they weren't anyway.
They probably would have quit by now.
EDIT: One of the game's virtues has ALWAYS been that it was easy to solo in--that you were not forced to team to do the epic stuff (cough*EQ*FFXI*coug)
Many folks don't get that. -
[ QUOTE ]
True.. And I suspect a rash of brand new fire/kins and spines scrappers will be showing up shortly after Issue 16 goes live.

Good.
Means the game gets to keep their sub fees for longer.

LOVE the difficulty setting change.
LOVE the power tinting.
Freaking LOVE all the powerset proliferation...how is BaBs still alive after all this work? SOmeone give him a large root beer and some donuts...
[/ QUOTE ]
He (and the rest of the devs in general) are alive because they took a sort of break between issues 14 and 16, with 15 kind of.
Now understandable even more why 15 was so small. -

It reads: "...each will receive an alternate animation for their powers." To me, that sounds like one alternate animation for each power, excluding maybe Taunt.

I wouldn't really consider "one guy clears a map while 7 other guys stand at the door" to be "grouping". "Grouping" implies an actual group effort.
And it's not like only solo players benefit from this. A 3-man team can spawn a map for an 8-player team, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL! Agreed. I would hope that is not what he was referring to.
Cause a fire/kin or fire/psi running a map is so not grouping.
I would also hope he is not referring to the hami farms. Cause that would just be . . .
I'll leave it there till he chooses to respond. -

'Other features to be announced.'
I remember plenty of other Issues where people have said 'there has to be more than this', but this is the first time I've seen them actually SAY so.
So, we know for a fact there's more to I16 than two eagerly anticipated player-demanded features and a whole heap of power proliferation.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, they've said 'Other features to be announced.' in many other issues. The thing is that the initial press release has the vast majority of the features and the stuff announced later is minor in respect.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have to say based on history usually this is the case.
But history really hasn't mattered lately. -
[ QUOTE ]
nah I mean, now you don't even need a team to farm, AE or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
good. let the farmers go and leave those who don't want to alone. I see nothing wrong with that. -
[ QUOTE ]
Exactly what I said. If people thought AE was bad.....
[/ QUOTE ]
This doesn't make sense. If anything it will clean up b-cast.
As I've said before those farming probably wouldn't be playing with you anyway if they weren't farming. -

[ QUOTE ]
Enhanced Difficulty Options - Players can now fine-tune their difficulty levels by telling the game exactly how they want to be treated. They can choose to be regarded as a specific size team (even if they are soloing), and even have control over the level they are detected to be when it comes to the dynamic spawn system. So if you ever wanted to see if your Scrapper could take on a map that is populated for an 8 person team, four levels higher than your own, now you can! The difficulty settings of the mission owner dictate how the mission is handled, just as before, and you can change your difficulty settings at any Hero Corp.'s Representative in Paragon City or Fateweaver in the Rogue Isles.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's lovely to set the difficulty for more for my solo scrappers but won't it just encourage farming? 'Yay no fillers anymore!' some must be thinking...
[/ QUOTE ]
People were still looking for fillers since issue 14? LOL, wut? -

If so, I won't complain. Re-using current animations has been one of the long-standing suggestions for creating a punching set.
