I13 is still one of the worst issues in this game's history. And not just because of what they did to pvp.

A couple of other things that came out with that issue were not what this game needed. I'll leave it at that.

It all makes sense now. Positron creates an entire boxed set of content which looks like an upgrade to the Praetorian dimension, when all along he's just trying to trick Castle into working on City of Spies. And then on the eve of everyone discovering his master plan, he hands War Witch the keys and hides in his secret lair while he prepares to launch his next master plan: a massive update of the Shadow Shard based around aerial combat with the Rularuu that tricks BaB into working on the animations necessary for an underwater zone.

    Genius.
    /thread.

    Arcanaville wins.

Right. I thought I made it clear that it was an aside.

After that episode, I always want them to add new stuff, not replace it with "improved" pieces, so I very much understand the (probable) reason some things are left alone.
Although it's usually mentioned for powers, what you and peterpeter just stated is "the cottage rule" in short.

And I agree. To a point. For players, sure. For NPCs. NO.

There are ALOT of old and decaying things that they need to revamp in terms of tfs, the game world, and mob costumes in the original coh zones. I couldn't care less about the cottage rule in that instance.

    Just an aside.

    Carry on.
  6. Honestly I figured it was an npc.

What I also figured was that glowing costume pieces were finally going to be in COH, for players. Though deep down I knew not to get my hopes up.

Personally, I'm waiting for ACTUAL INFO on GR.

That screen shot does NOTHING for me. The Emperor Cole bio is waaaaaay more important as it actually gives INFO.

With that said I still look forward to what the War Witch's regime brings.

  10. Building a Fire/MM blaster primarily for zone. Is World of Confusion worth taking?

Ummm, most sgs I know of since issue 9 HAVEN'T given out inf.

Also you don't need Set IOs. We are talking about making inf. Not about what you buy with it.
  12. As a response to the last poster, no selfless=good, selfish=evil, is NOT a definition I accept. Even if the mad scientist did all that and gave the cure away, the ******* is STILL evil. Why? Cause there are dozens if not hundreds of folks doing LEGAL selfless work to cure cancer and are not killing folks.

So no, I do not agree with that definition. Definitions of good and evil are not that black and white in reality.
  13. To the OP:

    No . . . . just no.

The pictures in this thread have said enough.

The Devs are eternally in a bad position. Try to make a surprise for the users and they will complain about lack of information. Share it with them and they will complain about no surprise events. Forum dwellers make the worst customer service targets
For world events like this I'd rather NOT be surprised, so that folks can plan when to be home to join in. Part of the problem was not knowing when it would come, thus not being able to plan for it.

Had a rikti ship happened during the time many players were are work school I can tell you they would have been pissed (the players). Luckily it looks like any REALLY different about the event (and what you stated wasn't all that different. I don't know about atlas, but there really weren't waves of enemies. Felt like a regular invasion in Kings Row on Virtue to me.) happens this weekend.

Though I would have been glad with ANY invasions as my Bs/regen on VIRTUE needs 20 more bombs for her rikti sword.

Seeing as how many new players and folks who at first didn't know jack shite about marketeering (raises hand) have come here, used the advice and made themselves rich, I'm missing your point.

Or how an all stalker team would put new meaning in the term quick Katie Hannon TF, or how easily Mind doms would trivialize the the final encounter on the STF with the sleeps lasting uberly long with domination and power boost. I do think they will eventually have to throw out the whole merits over time metric we have now because certain ATs would butcher the current datamined times to the point where we are getting 1 merit per arc on some of them.
I'm especially interested in seeing Villainous Empaths and Blasters in RV, and heroic Stalkers and Doms in RV.

I dont count power recoloring because thats just the devs whipping out some crayons for something that could have been done 10+ issues ago. I dont count the return of the 5th column TFs because that isnt dev worthy content. Even after the many revisions it feels like it was half-***** put together unlike their previous content for like issues 1-5. Even now there is still much QQing about the final encounter is more broken than the LRSF by some teams. I dont count the Cimera/Midnighter stuff because it was entirely too short for that zone. It should have been on par with Striga or Croatoa but fell really short of that in my opinion.

So with the devs holding back all this content we should have been getting I expect more missions and such than what CoV had by itself. I dont see this being a problem at all. Considering how easy it is to create an arc in the MA and the devs have superior tools than that we should be getting lots of stuff for the time we havent gotten anything tangible. As for as powerset swapping goes just about everything I ever wanted is there just about so a few more ports isnt going to make my day at all. I think at the end of the day GR has to be bigger than CoV in terms of real content and to make up for all the empty promises the devs never delievered on (CoP, Base Functionality, and City Vault).
There are many folks that feel that way.

To be honest with you I'm more interested in how the story gets progressed than ANY of the new announced ATs.

Also interested in seeing how side switching and the new level 50 content works.

EDIT: That last sentence you posted is probably why marketing doesn't allow them to give much news or previews until they are sure what they are previewing won't be pulled at the last second for technical issues.
  19. I agree with what of the couple of last posters stated. I get that the holidays were upon us. But that's over now.

I'm hoping that once Thursday's sever maint resets the servers and the Christmas event FINALLY FREAKING GOES AWAY we'll see some actual content news.

Also as a vet: I've been getting into zone pvp (RV) more due to the uptick in targets. . . . er players on Freedom. Just made a few pvp builds, and now i have a reason to go after Accolades. Purple IO builds I've already mastered, so pvp builds have kept my interest.

Once I finalized my purpled, max recharge illusion/kin I knew I was running out of stuff to do. I've wanted to get one to 50 since I started playing this game, but kept putting it off cause I had other alts to roll. I've rolled all those alts. To be honest with you neither demon summoning nor dual pistols interests me if I'm going to be blasting/killing the same stuff all over again. (One of the reasons I'm looking forward to the STORY content more in GR, and the stuff for 50s--which hasn't been announced yet).

Last year was giving rpers, storytellers, farmers (of which i am one) and customization hounds what they wanted. I'm fine with that.

What I would not be fine with is if this year is once again just content fluff. The STORY of COH/V needs to freaking move forward already. How long have we been waiting for the Coming Storm again?

The hints at the rikti mothership and revival better be more than just an AE mission and just some invasions (though my bs/regen) does need her rikti sword. The letters from the time capsule did impress me in terms off adding to the story.

TL;DR: Enough fluff. Let's move the story forward.
  20. *ahem*

    *singing* Blame Marketing, blame marketing!

  21. Hopefully the unannounced stuff for GR will help with, 50s having new stuff to do.

Hell side switching will probably ONE of the things for 50s to do.

Especially for those who want redside empaths and stalkers and villanous blasters.
