  1. I'm dropping out too, hopefully that means you can do a single team. Sorry if this is short notice, like syra above. ><
  2. I'm @Augury, character is named Idunn.

    Syra is Syracuse. (not @)

Oh and, I'd very much like to be in a team with Syra. In case that wasn't obvious.
  3. I still need synapse. Me coming. Level 26 fire/kin scraptroller.

    /kin question

    [ QUOTE ]
When I read your view of kinetic powers I seriously have to ask myself if kinetic was a good choice for your secondary. Kinetic is mediocre at best when you don“t use it in a way that defines your toon.
There are many secondary powersets that work well when they are treated as secondary, but kinetics is a religion.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'll be using fulcrum shift to define my character's damage, doesn't that count?

Basically the long and the short of it is that I need Fulcrum Shift to be able to make this weird-o-build work! And to a lesser degree siphon speed. So it really was a good choice of secondary as far as that goes; as without it my build would never really be even half decent.

    /kin question

    Hmm...

Well after reading this thread I think I'll simply use speedboost for "big fights", like when you're staring down that AV or something and people are standing still anyhow, or if people start getting in trouble. Or whenever I just plain feel like it.

Kinetics is my secondary as a few people have said, and my primary goal for this character was for her to be a squishy meleeist that could potentially hold her own with other melee oriented characters. (to a degree)

Also I'm going to stop pretending I'm a healer. I can be but only for people who come to melee to get healed, too often by the time I locate a blaster or something with a mob near them it'll just fall down by the time I hit transfusion. It's useless, and I don't have room for the medicine pool.

So doing that basically puts me back at where I was, which was a comfortable midline between being a support char and a front line char, and that suits me fine.

    /kin question

Now, I don't play the most standard controller, I play a fire/kin who hits things with powerpool attacks. So I neglect my primary for more scrappy matters, still I think this applies to most /kin controllers.

Now, I didn't sign up to be a buffer and healer. I didn't roll a defender, because I don't like playing defenders. But in big groups, I find myself spending most of the fights speedboosting people, siphoning speed to keep up, siphoning power to boost my own damage and others, and popping transfusion to keep people healed.

The problem comes in that I feel like I'm playing a kinetics defender. I rarely hit things, hell I rarely even get to use what little control I have in bigger teams!

I'm really not sure. I'm sorely tempted to just respec out speed boost because people refuse to wait for it before a fight, and by the time I've done that people are in the yellow and I spend most of the rest of the fighting buffing and trying to heal people.

It's worse because trying to heal people seems to be getting me in debt when it's not meleeists.

    I dunno. It's annoying me. I didn't sign up to play a kinetics defender, but it feels like that's what I do 90% of the time. How do others with the /kin set deal with this? I just wanted fulcrum shift really! ;_;
  7. Well, your loyal reporter with her awesome computer (core 2 duo E6400, geforce 7900, 2 gigs of DDR2 RAM, yumyumyum) was there for the Great GM Hunt of '06 and took the time in between spamming tranfusion and clobbering things 10 to a 100 times bigger than her to get some nice snapshots. Lusca was rather hard as it's too big to get a good view of without being out of range of heals, so sorry if those aren't too good. You can tell I tried to make it for it with the other four GMs we fought after that.

I hope y'all enjoy these and if anyone wants to have the original high res version of a picture just toss me a PM and we'll be able to sort something out.

Thanks to Syra for helping pick the best and most amusing shots, and for uploading them to photobucket so I wouldn't have to murder my personal hosting with this thread.

    Without further ado, the pics!

The initial gathering. Lusca is wonderfully animated, I have to say.

Final gathering before Wamdue charged, triggering a rather bloody attack. Seven were killed.

    Debuffs ahoy!

Everyone piling onto Lusca. I think this was the second one we fought.

Final attack on the first Lusca. Rawr!

Would have been an awesome shot of Eochai if Syra's scarf wasn't in the way.

    A better shot, sans Syra.

Eochai before we downed him a second time.

Jack in Irons noticing Augury for the first time...

...until Ben lets rip. I think he faceplanted soon after, but I couldn't keep track of the battle.

Showing off Jack's head collection. A lot more detailed than I thought he'd be.

Babbage. Was pretty dark, so couldn't get a decent shot.

    Obligationry bum shot.

Augury laying claim to a box fort.

Would also like to say sorry again to Morgana Fiolet for being faceplanted for the entire Jack in Irons fight and not getting the badge. Which you can see in the picture where Ben is, instead of helping a fallen comrade, instead opting to show off and shoot Jack. >_> /thumbsup
  8. I have screenshots! Once I sort through them and get Syra to photobucket them, there'll probably be a Great GM Hunt Pictures topic or something of the sort.

Unfortunately somewhere along the line CoH reset its graphics settings for me so instead of "absolutely awesome" quality the pictures will only be "really damn impressive", sorry about that.
  9. Personally I use siphon power and flight instead of getting inertial reduction. Flight works way better with the speed boost, and being able to fly is the one thing /kin can't do for you.

    But that's just me. ^^;
  10. I was just fighting a Tsoo boss and noticed I was not getting a containment bonus to my damage even though my holds weren't missing. Does containment just not work on them, or do you need a full hold or immob for it to work or what? Would be nice to know the details.
  11. Do I want to go with Laser Beam Eyes?

    Woman.

    LASER BEAM EYES. :P

Point taken about Conserve Power, though; I'll likely get rid of the level 47 power and get it then, pulling slots from elsewhere.

I dunno, just...laser beam eyes. It's been something I've always wanted to do.
  12. OK, I've tweaked things slightly to ditch Stealth and incorporate Aid Self:

I feel as if I've have a strong attack chain going there; I've never been one to use Hasten too much, so I doubt one/two second gaps is going to bother me that much.
  13. Syra here. Not Augury.

Anyway, until my account problems are sorted out, I have a lot of time to mess around with Auggy's account on the test server and putting builds together. What's struck me as the most relevant and enjoyable - for me - powerset combination is Claws/Invulnerability.

I do intend to take this one to level 50, rather than abandoning the poor girl at level 6. But to make damn sure I follow through with this, I'd love a little help refining the build I have:

To me it looks fine, although I'm still unsure why I took Stealth beyond a "flavour" power.

My main concern, so far, is the resist and defense values; I wasn't expecting huge zomgimincredible numbers in anything other than smashing/lethal, but I don't have a great deal of experience with melee ATs beyond level 12 so I can't say just how "squishy" I'd be against Energy and so on.

Any help will be massively appreciated.
  14. Yeah; still apart, but we're getting better with things. Just really a case of establishing a few things, and then we're under the same roof permanently.

Anyway, getting a sizeable chunk of the work done - being together doesn't mean we're down each other's throats all the time - so thanks again.

/EDIT - oops, just realised; this is Syra. Logged into Aug's system.
  15. You must've missed the elite longbow and arachnos forces duking it out on the other side of the fence, probably to keep the worst threats inside while level 1 villains and inmates escape since they're less of a threat.

At least if you wanna declare game mechanics as IC, then I can do the same thing and trump you.
  16. An oft understated thing.

I can tell you, superspeed + hurdle just needs combat jumping. Not that I'll be able to get it.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
The Brute I team with has confirmed the mace prevents knockback (although there's a mace power that doesn't hold; it knocks people all over the place).

    [/ QUOTE ]
It is somewhat annoying being superstrength, since some damage mitigation can be had by the knock ups/downs, which the web grenade prevents much in the same way gravity distortion field does.
  18. I'd like to point out one minor tidbit.

A lot of people refer to defensive set self-heals as self-heals. Which I suppose is fair enough, since they do heal yourself. They tend to be rather unreliably high on recharge though.

IMHO missing out on a self-heal and taking aid self is not the same, even without looking at the interruptability. Most (all?) self-heals will also boost your maximum HP for quite a while and this can be enormously helpful, for instance if you have a lot of regen, or aid self will heal more too, or if there's an AV/Hero with a type of damage that you have no/low resists to so you won't get one shot, etc.

Easy to overlook the max HP buff effect, but it's pretty important IMHO. I more see Earth's Embrace as a HP buff than a heal.
  19. If that's true that's another big strike against PPPs, again. At least a single target ranged attack would be good for punchvoking.

    *sigh*
  20. Another PPP question! >_> This one is easier. Do the PPP attacks take taunt enhancements?
  21. Ah, Eressos got her first powerpool attack already so I figured someone who goes here would've already.

What about powerpool attacks? Do those taunt inherently?
  22. So nobody knows the answers to any of these questions?
  23. From what I could figure out it seems that the Scirocco PPP set's endurance drain is more like a discount on the powers that transfer it back, rather than actually going over the power cost and restoring your end.

Of course I didn't confirm that personally.
