I believe the main issue is to "remember" which slots and powers were taken at which levels. If this information is stored, when you remove any slot, you should be able to know where you can and can't put it. Same for power.
So, I know the game store the info of when powers were taken (for exemplaring down). The question now is : Does it store the same information for slots? -
I would like to suggest an idea about respecs. The current system allows full respec, and that's great, but sometimes, you only need to tweak your character and only change a slot position here, or a power there.
Knowing the history of what was taken at what level, would it be possible to, for a small fee, allow a player to remove a slot, or a power, and know where this slot would be allowed to go or not?
A more daring idea : Would it be possible to develop a tool similar to the fan-made "Mids", that would allow import export to CoH during a respec (while checking the existence of all enhancements, of course), in order to make the respec faster?
Please let me know what you think. Good idea or bad idea?
Thak you for your time,

Hey,
do you guys think it'd be fun to have this guy spawn in PI and requireing a 24 people league to beat?

(I'm obviously not serious, but it'd be fun). -
Hey Murph,
I saw some encouraging posts about the 11.9 drivers - not the beta, but the official release (from today) in the forum.
People who used to have problems seem to have been able to play 1 hour of back to back to back trials without any crash.
It needs more testing, but it's encouraging. -
There is a known crashing issue with the recent Radeon cards.
Some people get it fix by reverting to 11.4 like you did, but it doesn't seem to work for you.
Other turn down Shadow, or even the whole ultramode to make it better.
Anyway, NCSoft is working with AMD to fix this problem.
So, i'd recommend trying to lower the Ultramode settings, and see if it works for you.
Also, wait for the next patch and AMD drivers which should be out this week.
I hope you stay with the rest of us, the game is worth the waiting for the crash issue to be fixed. -

I suspect the developers are very busy preparing I14, the next booster pack and future content, and I don't expect things to be fixed overnight. But I'm talking about major, universal, problems that cropped up before the winter event and I guess I'm kind of stunned at the lack of notice or mention of them. Moreso when I look at the content of this patch.

Quick responses to general tone of many posts in this thread
We're departmentalized here. The people who would be responsible for fixing things like game crashes, bugs with text chat, etc are not the same people who do things like tweak powers, change badges, or fiddle with animation/FX. I've said this many times before, but people keep using this "Why did they do X instead of fixing Y" arguement and unless you're a producer here, you cannot know which things are getting addressed in lieu of other things. (I myself only know which animation/FX issues are taking priority of other animation/FX issues)
The known issues list is kind of in unknown territory. I'm not sure if there is anyone who's responsibility is to keep that thing updated on a regular basis...and I'm not sure if there actually is a way to keep it updated anyway. What should go on the known issues list is things that are currently broken in the live game, are known about by us, and will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
It can't ever be the "Here are all of the bugs we know about" list because our bug tracking database literally has tens of thousands of 'known issues'. Some have been fixed, some aren't actually bugs, many are duplicates of bugs, etc. There's no reasonable way anyone could parse through our bug database and condense it into a list on a regular basis. Even updating it with a list of things that we know about and have already fixed is problematic and requires the people who fix things to manually tell someone to update the list. So the likeliehood of the known issues list ever being up to the minute and comprehensive is slim to none. It can certainly be more comprehensive and up to the date that it currently is, but it'll always be something that's managed ad hoc.
Finally, we are in a particularly chaotic point in update schedule. We're beginning the transition between I13 on live and I14 (which used to be part of I13) on it's way to beta testing--always a troublesome time in the update process. We're also working ahead on things for post I14 launch (booster packs, anniversary event, etc)...as well as Issues 15 and 16. Many things going into I14 can't go into I13 without horrible consequences. Likewise with I15 and I16. So, we're currently dealing with more future builds than we ever have and more open branches as well. Trust me, it's just as frustrating for us as it is for you guys. But we'll get through it and things will smooth out. Absolute worst case scenario is by the time Issue 14 goes live...at that point one of the builds/branches we're juggling (I13) is closed for good. Pretty hopeful that things will smooth out long befor then though.

Seems like a lot of work.... Does it mean you can expect late night working and sharing midnight pizzas with co-workers?
I had that too (not working in the gaming industry though), but as annoying as it may sound, it might also be a cool experience if you get along well with your teamates. -
I hope when the 5th will be back for good, they'll get the whole paramilitary group theme with them and leave the council with a more traditional villains in tights theme.

Welcome back, Manticore!
I still remember you at a test server party, and how many of us waited patiently in line for you to give us funky yellow titles.
I still have the screen captures of mine- "Skyscraper Incarnate".
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're talking Halloween last year, then it wasn't Sean. That Manticore admitted he wasn't Sean, but one of the other devs. Then BackAlleyBrawler posted recently he spent last Halloween in a costume stuck at a computer in a cubicle handing out titles for hours while suffering a cold. So... my powers of deductive reasoning tell me that last year's Halloween Manticore was played by Christopher Bruce who is now the BAB.
[/ QUOTE ]
Guilty. I borrowed Sean's moniker for that Halloween event, the Cuppathon, and many other events...all the way up to the "Season's Greetings admin spam fiasco" of last year that got me grounded from playing around on the live servers.

I got it BaB IS Kaiser Sozé! -
Real name: Shakil Ishmerai Suah
Occupation: Adventurer, Engineer, Peace, ecology and socialist activist.
Group Affiliation: none
Height: 55"
Weight: 177 lbs.
Eyes: Dark Brown
Hair: Black
Story:
Shakil Suah grew up in an old European citys suburbs. Although coming from a blue-collar family, living near the philosophers and scientists birthplace of the Age of Enlightenment gave him access to a cheap, yet valuable education. He was particularly fascinated by Descartes work, and shared his conviction that the human mind can freely control the body.
Youngest child of an 8-children family, Shakil was introverted, having a few friends, and science books to keep him company. At school he was among the best students, but excelled in mathematics and sciences, which led him later to an engineer career.
Life in a working-class neighborhood is hard for an under weighted science geek. Therefore, in order to avoid being bullied, when he turned 18, he decided to take martial art lessons.
He was among the most constant and disciplined student and enjoyed hand-to-hand fighting a lot and stayed in the class several years. Around the same time, taking advantage of the Internet boom, he found a job for a local software company, but continued studying fundamental sciences and mathematics as a hobby.
Shakil later enrolled into a special self-taught free fight group a kind of fight-club - where he learned not only to fight, but also the importance of the exercise of power over power itself How he learned this lesson will remain a secret.
It became quickly apparent that he was far stronger and more resistant than most people his weight being able to fight adversaries twice his weight to a standstill, or even win. His degree of strength and resistance werent superhuman though; he was often injured and unable to beat some of his stronger friends.
Not quite satisfied with his physical condition, and feeling that he was too weak for his fight-club, he started a drastic training program during his vacations, including running for several hours a day, weight lifting, and combat-training adding 10% to his weights and running time every weeks. He was surprised that his progression stayed linear no matter what He never seemed to reach an upper limit to his training By the end of his training, he was able to lift a car with little difficulty. Now convinced he could push his body as far as he could if needed, he considered starting a crime fighter career, but wasnt sure if he could make a difference, or if he was needed at all.
After his vacations, a job opportunity led him to Paragon City where he could use his skills as an engineer for Crey Industries.
The corruption within Crey Industries, and the general danger surrounding Paragon City was the trigger: He remembered what he learned in his friendly fight-club, and decided to take action: He would need a new identity both to incarnate the things he believes in and to protect his loved ones and friends via a secret identity.
Shakil made his first costumed appearance in Atlas Park. Finding this part of the city full of street thugs named The Hellions terrorizing the helpless people living there, he started to clean the street methodically, patrolling every night.
His modus operandi lead him to repeatedly appear whenever he is less expected and save an apparently hopeless situation. This habit earned him the name X-Machina on the local press.
To avoid suspicions, he decided to use cosmetic changes rather than a mask to hide his true identity. He also decided to keep working for Crey, being in the perfect position to learn about Creys plans. He also chose to indirectly fight Crey, in his civil identity by becoming an activist against whatever evil Crey Industries creates or supports: war, pollution and social dumping. His employer didnt put any pressure on him about it so far. Meaning either they dont care, or they have a special plan to take care of this. Only future will tell -
Hi,
I have been working on a RP toon recently - X-Machina - on Infinity, an Invul/SS tanker I see as the "Icon" on my imaginary RP world.
Deus Ex Machina : Refers to an unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot.
X : Twenty-fourth letter of the Latin alphabet. Its name in English is ex. In a general sense, X represents a generic placeholder variable, whose value is unknown or secret but within a set defined by context.
I haven't written his Origin story yet, but here is how I explain his Invulnerability, Superstrength, flight, and Energy mastery so far (even though he is only level 3 so far) :
Powers :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
X-Machina's body is physically similar to any normal human's body. Nevertheless, his DNA molecules are surrounded by a strong electromagnetic field - A bioelectric DNA. It has been theorized that every human being shares this feature (although no proof has been provided yet), but in X-Machina's case, the bioelectric field is so strong that it resonates with the DNA molecule - altering it and making it tougher. Therefore, X-Machina is naturally resistant to all form of physical attack, whether it is kinetic, elemental, toxic, or energy based. Whatever isn't deflected by the bioelectric DNA defense field meets the resistance of a strengthened cell.
X-Machina seems to possess a (more or less) conscious degree of control over his bioelectric field. By concentrating enough, he can vary its resonance frequency and intensity to be more resistant to a specific type of attack. Modifying the resonance frequency seems to strengthen his cell's physical structure, while modifying the intensity strengthens his bioelectric field. Modifying both seems to strengthen his lifeforce somehow for a short period of time. He seems to have mastered the resistance to kinetic attacks better than the others, allowing him to be temporary invulnerable to it for short periods of time.
His field is so powerful that it can lower or negate inertia - defying the action/reaction principle and making him an unyielding object.
Some recovered council secret files about X-Machina - gathering information from numerous battles in which he single handedly fought dozens of trained Council agents - refers to him as an invincible foe.
An extended and intensive use of his powers can result in a dramatic reduction of its efficiency. For example, in a battle against the villain Marauder, X-Machina strained his powers to become practically unstoppable, and as a result used all his energy and powers for some time. The rate at which his cells refill their bioelectric aura is variable and the mechanics is not well knows.
In addition to nigh invulnerability, his reinforced cell structure grants him vast superhuman strength, even without any help from his electromagnetic field. He uses the fields, though, as a form of tactile telekinesis, to prevent huge objects (like battleships or buildings) to collapse under their own weight when he has to lift them.
Most of the time, X-Machina restrains his use of Super strength to a non-lethal level, and avoids destroying his surrounding environment in battle. Nevertheless, he has shown that he is able to use his strength to maximum level - enhanced by an overload of his bioelectric aura - for a short period of time, if needed.
He has learned to use his ability to negate inertia in order to flight. This is now his main transportation mode.
After years of experience, he is now able to stock vast quantities of bioelectric energy and use it either to boost his own endurance, or to release it in the form of powerful kinetic, but non-lethal blasts.
His control over his surrounding aura seems to have granted him the ability to see the bioelectric
aura of other living being, enhancing his perception with a sixth sense.

What do you guys think so far? -
Thank you Positron,
As a semi-casual player (some weeks, i am hardcore player, some weeks i hardly play). i never know if I can involve into a 12-hour TF, finding people to do such TF (either in one time or committing to do it in 2-3 days) already takes hours. I'm glad they ll be changed. I hope the story won't be too altered. -

Did anyone notice?
It s on test server, on Peregrine.... Constructions workers are on it.... Pay attention to what they say..... -

16. Adding Tanker damage has become a little problematic. It makes the almost too powerful...but it's an ongoing issue internally. We are definitely adding more aggro control to the Tanker.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am satisfied with my Tank damages right now (I'm a SS tanker), but what do you mean "it's an ongoing issue internally"? Do you mean you are still thinking about adding damages to tankers, but without making them too good?
And what is the "Comic Booky" idea you told us about some time ago for Tankers? -
[ QUOTE ]
I personally like Footstomp the way it is (recharge and damage wise). It will be a ton better (playability wise) without the KB in it when that change gets put in.
I think there are too many higher damaging AOEs floating around and that compounds the upper end game problem. AOEs for Tankers (again, in my mind) should be lower damage, agro holding types of powers. The kind of power that makes mobs go "Oh [censored]!!! Get that guy first!!!!".
[/ QUOTE ]
Mmmm... Now you put it that way.... That makes sense. -
Ok,
Where do i sign?
Question : would you like to see Footstomp working like seismic smash?
