(Television begins to glow an angry red color as the fuzzy image of a man appears.)
Hello and Welcome to a special revenge edition of C! True Paragon Stories!
Today we tell the story of:
Moderator_08!
Making Eight
It was 1971 when a mysterious mystic power entered into the lives of a special few. Great power was unleashed upon them and weird and horrifying things were born on that cursed night...
Including the dreaded Mod_08.
Mod_08, being born in an era of hellish lights and sound, was a creature of dark intentions. Being not a mortal thing, he had no childhood. Instead, his first act upon our world was to kick some puppies. Eventually, he moved on from professional puppy punting and joined up as a Moderator for city of heroes.
Blah, Blah, Blah. Stuff happened.
Soon he was a terror upon the wilds of Pwnz and the great crusher of quote pyramids. No corner of the forums was free from his inevitable wrath! In his wake you could hear the wailing cries of n00bs, trolls and Cross-posters. Those that bowed to his tyrannical rule were given favors, many times in the form of the most hideous bribe a man can offer...cupcakes.
(What an evil cupcake may look like.)
He was mean to me!
Knowing that I, your always trustworthy Ashcraft, was most definitely NOT a Rikti Spy,(My name even says so, you can't argue with that!) The vicious Mod_08 bestowed upon me a vicious lie in the form of a yellow title.
(Undeniable Proof that he is indeed a Rikti Spy -Mod08)
Such blatant character assassination could not go without reprise. I was forced to take my revenge upon the mightiest of the mighty and strike a blow against the lies and slander of the most despicable Mod_08. So, here before you I stand, in order to say unto all of you this great truth:
Mod_08 is a turd.
As always, this has been your completely human host, Pumpernickel Van Ashcraft for C! True Paragon Stories! Tune in next week as we unravel the past of another Hero or Villain! -
The AE contact tree is very, very nice. It's made AE playing a lot easier for me.
-
Not A Rikti Spy will try to make an appearance.
He is busy, though. There are so many Not-spy related activities he has to participate in. -
Mostly new. Some of the mission objectives are the same but the maps and named bosses have been overhauled for the most part.
-
I like to search for 0 stars + a keyword or two when I have some time, give that person at least one play and some feedback for their arc. :-)
-
You already ran one of mine... so I'm just gonna give a thumbsup on the this thread and say good luck!
-
-
That's nothing. I saw a guy crash who was advising a guy who crashed who had just crashed after a crash.
Then I crashed and got this:
-
Yay for squirrels hitting 50!
(Got Pain Lord to 50 meself yesterday) -
*You see a warehouse and wonder if it's the one with the badge on the roof.
(Did that once)
(Took a long break from the game afterwards.) -
I'd like to take this opportunity to LOL most heartily.

Hello and Welcome to C! True Paragon Stories!
Today we tell the story of:
Mr_Squid!
Unholy Union
Aghthugatgalu Squid is the offspring of a mortal man and a voracious sea creature. He was brought up in a quaint seaside village, where he learned all the skills a young hero would need in life. He learned the basics in ink-squirting, suction-cup crawling and the first levels of tentacle slapping from an old friend.
A New Home
After the waters of his hometown grew too dangerous for a young cephalopod, Mr. Squid moved to Paragon City. He enrolled in Mother Mayhem's Abandoned Mental Institution High, where his education in the ways of the sea monster continued.
"ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" His mother told us in her interview, "Hng'uathua ngrlg'ngh t'krghu fteghn'uiangh-ikh'raghn."
Truer words were never spoken. Mr. Squid did indeed have a rough time among all the land creatures he was forced to associate with. Things were not all bad, though, as Mr Squid sound found his place among the MMAMI High swim team.
Wet Work
After graduation, Mr. Squid had a hard time finding work in Paragon City. Heroes constantly stopped him on the street, trying to beat him into a bloody pulp and calling him 'Coralax.' He eventually found a job protecting underwater lairs from invading submarine fleets. He generally kept out of sight, re-evaluating his life and what it meant to be a Squid.
"I told him that he should be a hero, like his old man." His father confided in us, "People EXPECT you to be a freak of nature. It's part of what makes us such a success."
The Ink of Justice
Mr. Squid took his father's advice and placed his signature on a hero registration. He soon found that he had an unnatural talent for hero work. With the eldritch powers of his mother and quick reflexes of his father, Mr. Squid dominated his foes without even the slightest bit of tentacle fatigue.
He continues to fight crime to this very day, happily being the long, wet, squishy arm of justice.

Quote:I'm a writer and Ashcraft was the name of one of my favorite characters I've ever written. (Also the one people keep yelling at me to write more about. )
1) What’s in a name? : “I see your name is “...”. What is the story behind it? Where did you get it? What other names have you used in the past”
Quote:2) What’s in a job? : “Why do you play a “race/class/occupation? Do you find you play that a lot? Do you like it or would you play others? Do you have other characters with other race/class/occupation”
Quote:3) What’s in a game?: “What do you like about this game? What would you change or improve?”
As far as Improvements go, I'd like to see more new story arcs in the game. The two new ones for each side have only encouraged this want since there is a whole new set of tricks the devs can use in missions now.
Quote:4) What’s in a story?: “Do you have any funny anecdotes from playing this game? What is the greatest adventure you’ve been on in here?
When the Hollows was fairly new and not long after Stone Armor got it's revamp, a friend and I took our Stone Tanks down to the Hallows entrance, hit Granite Armor and started giving advice and influence out to the new players as they entered the zone. Got some weird looks and plenty of questions.
As far as Adventures and truly 'feeling' like a hero, well...
There was a span of time when the Respec trials were severely broken. Insane waves of multiple bosses would flood down on the reactor and squish anyone who wasn't looking. Once again, I had my Stone tank and took a group down into the reactor. We got overrun by Freakshow tanks and wiped the entire team except for me. Everyone hit the hospital in IP and had the long, 15-20 minute run back. I sat there, herded the tanks, healed the reactor and kept everything busy until they all filed back into the mission. It was one of the first times I felt I actually 'Saved the Day.'
Quote:5) What’s in a friend?: “Do you play alone or with a group? Are you a member of any guilds? What keeps you playing alone/groups? Do you have lots of friends in this world? Do you talk to them often?
Quote:6) “What got you into MMOs?”
Quote:7) “What new MMO are you looking forward to?” -
Ok, reviewing Die Eckleman Die!
First of all, you needs some grammar work in the introduction. (missing comma after 'I am more than you see before you') Interesting Initial concept.
Nice character work in the first mission.
Ambushes are a bit extreme in the second missions. You might want to tone those down. That map is busy already and I was still fighting 4 guys when another 6 showed up.
Typo in third mission collection 'You recovered some date.' and misspelling of Desiccated in another.
Ok, very interesting twist to the whole story here. Again, some more crazy ambushes that make me glad I was on my brute.
Nice ending to the whole thing. No souvenir though? A story like yours can't end without some creepy object you didn't have before!
So, final thoughts:
Great story
Great character design
Great map choices
Too many overstacked ambushes
Some general editing needed in the text.
---------------------
My arc needs plays:
Arc Title: Scheduling Conflict
Arc ID: #411118
Factions: Freakshow, Luddites, Goldbrickers, Arachnos, custom patrols in last mission
Morality: Rogue
Length: Rather short if you want to skip some content. Longer if you fight all the way through.
Level Range: Lowbie arc, auto-exempts you to lv 20. -
"What? What did I say? I just mentioned Pwnz... Please, stop crying!"
