I have Capped Melee and Ranged, with 10% off from AoE Defense, 40% S/L Res, a passive 82% recharge and 1600HP w/ Accolades which Im already working on.
I dont like redraw, and Poison Ray is such a slow animation that Id rather spam another melee attack so that I opted out of it, and Venom grenade as well since they wont have that efficiency.
Should they ever Fix Venom Nade and do what they did for Crabs and give Banes a Mace Based Venom Grenade then Id likely take it. Til then Surv with Shatter should be plenty, especially if the Achilles proc hits.
And yea, I agree, I find myself wanting to squeeze more powers in, but just not having the slots to do it. Id still like to add Tactics, Aid Self, Phase and Web Cocoon along with the mass Immob, but theres just not the room for it. -
-
Quote:Well. Except for Chain Induction. I skip Jacobs cause I find it to be too slow, but Chain being Havoc Punch on a Oldschool ET Animation, along with the bonus damage from the Lightning Jump, its a pretty excellent power.Skip them both. Lightning Rod and Thunderstrike are good enough for AoE purposes.
Get The Tier 1 & 2 Punches, get Chain, Thunderstrike and Lightning Rod and you wont ever really need much more.
The chain has gaps in it you can fix with some slotting, but you arent really meant to deal awesome ST DPS, more like a giant Crowd softener on everything, including Bosses. -
So Im in love with my Bane. Like. <3. Anyways I want to IO my beautiful Bane and Im not sure if Im going in the right direction.
My overall goal is a powerful Survivable PvE Build.
I hate redraw, so I skipped Venom Grenade, but if I could push the Envelope and solo AVs thatd be wonderful, however I dont think he can quite go that far.
Id just like some feedback or suggestions concerning Areas of inefficiency or alternative ideas for an IO focus beyond +Def, +Rech, +HP

Quote:I'd love to hear what people think about the Physical Perfection Epic power. I have been playing this game for many moons but didn't hear much when it came out and I haven't been around as much the last year due to work.
All that being as it is, I am rebuilding my Invul/SS and would like to add it in. I wanna know what people think about the power in general, slotting, is it a must-have, so forth, etc.
Thanks all
-Doc
I find the numbers to be kinda weak. There are better power picks that can contribute and if endurance is an issue you can slot your powers or use IOing to fix that more than PP can attribute. And since you likely have Stamina and Health already, you can just as easily slot The Numina/Miracle Combo in there, unless slots are at a premium in which case its not a bad pick.
Mostly its up to you and how you build your characters that determines whether itll be useful or not. -
Quote:Its not expected unless you join it.WHOA! Wait a minute! I'm kinda new to Tankers, but is that what's going to be expected of me when I get to 50? Sport a specific IO build to fulfill the expectations of others?
Never on any of my other characters, am I pigeonholed into a build that might not even be the concept my character is aiming for (and I usually IO all my characters, or have a build planned for them). Maybe I'll just go back to the freer lifestyle of a scrapper or stalker then >_>
If someones doing an STF and you volunteer to do it on your IOd Darkie, your damn darkie better be able to handle Recluse, because a Failed STF is a waste of everyones time.
Otherwise IO however you see fit. Im not telling you how to IO, just commenting that Dark is relatively weaker in power when compared to most other sets for IOs, on top of the more sophisticated playstyle.
And before ANYONE says that I just dont know what Im doing with the IOs, or that I havent played dark, or whatnot, 2 Level 50 Darkies. Both were IOd before I ripped them apart to play something with better Performance.
Why IO to make myself sustainable when another set can do it more easily and deal more damage? -
No what Im saying is that at the End Game, without KB Resistance, or a Kin Perma Buffing you with ID, that Lord Recluse and quite a few other AVs can knock your Tankers butt around no matter how many KB IOs you have (I had 45KB Protection of my Fire Tank for a STF and Recluse laughed.)
In addition to all those wasted slots on KB IOs is the fact that Resistance based sets get access to paltry bonuses compared to whats Available to Defense based sets. Your bang for the buck on them is much lower compared to a Defensive set that can slot the LotG procs to help improve offense, add HP, Regeneration, or more Defense depending on the sets you use as well.
And Thirdly, Shields isnt overpowered, its Perfectly powered. It has a Mix of mitigation that it can benefit well from any sort of IOing, the same way Invuln and to an Extent, Ice can as well. They all have Defense layered on Resistance layered on +HP in one manner or another.
All resistance based Tanking sets are at a disadvantage when it comes to IOing, because theyre pretty much stuck with a majority of the Resistance based IO sets, which basically offer +HP or +Rec for the most part without a more extreme investment into slots.
Its not that the other sets are overpowered, its that the Resistance based IOing sets, in addition to the fact that theres no way to accrue KB resistance from IOs means that no matter how much KB Prot you have, eventually somethings gonna toss you on your ***.
Of course, as I said before, for 99% of the PvE game it doesnt matter, and if youre IOing your pretty tank to go play the normal PvE content again, well....why? Not like Tanks have any real threat in the majority of PvE Content. If thats the case ignore my argument cause its a point that I dont understand.
And as for an IOd Shielder and DDR, Unlike SR, if I have a cascading failure, I have an extra 1k HP and 20-50% Resistance to everything right behind my ginormous defense to keep me on my feet. Im not afraid to take a hit. -
No. I said Killing Speed is the ONLY thing that matters. Survivability is a given. If you cant survive you cant farm. Anything can survive well in the AE, you said so yourself, so why arent you killing things quickly?
Because youre trying to play a tank, which is redundant. -
Quote:For all the money you spent on IOing a Dark, you can take a Shielder and get better performance and damage. End of story.Completely disagree. With IOs, Dark can get sufficient KB protection for 99% of the game without taking an additional power, very significantly reduce the endurance costs and recovery potential of the set, and add a very important additional layer of damage mitigation by slotting for defense bonuses.
If that's not "IO(ing) well", I don't know what is.
Or an Invuln or an Ice. And while 99% of the PvE game yes, you can be sufficient with a Single KB IO, most people dont IO their tank to do that short of farming. Theyre doing High Endgame content like the STF or Speed ITFs or LGTFs. Not that the Darky doesnt perform well in the later two, but overall most people likely see that it makes more sense to IO something else and play something else. -
Quote:Yes it is. If you cant survive well enough, you cant farm with the set. Farming is about time vs return. Killing faster = More Money = Better farmer.I think it depends more on what you are farming. If I am going for purples, a high minion count is the method of choice for me. In that case the killing speed between the three AT's listed is marginal and I would prefer the extra aggro control along with extra survivability as I gather and position them.
Pure killing speed is not the only measure of how well any set can farm. -
The Set doesnt IO well, its hole can still be breached even with IOs (KB) and there are just more solid sets that require less effort on the part of the user.

Quote:Doing a sewers team til levle 5 or 6 then running to Kings Row is a much easier, and imo a more fun time.I would highly recommend doing sewer team which should get you to lv8 from there head over to PP or hollows after.
You should be able to find players in ether of those locations.
At level 5 you can start Scanner missions, and after youve run 3 of them pick up a Safeguard to protect the Atlas Park bank. Finishing that mission rewards you with the Temp Travel Raptor Pack which is super handy for getting around anywhere and everywhere.
Every 5 levels after level 5 you can pick up a new Safeguard that each give you a useful power for a while, for instance the next Safeguard gives you the Jump Pack, an SJ temp power, and then after that the Skyway Safeguard gives you the Temp Self Rez poewr.
A good fluid leveling line I follow is Sewers (1-6), Kings Row (6-11) Steel (11-15;16) Faultline (16-22) Talos (22-30) Bricks/Founders (30-35) Then you can start ITFing for an easy and fun ride to the higher end of the game.
On top of that at any time past level 15 (15 is the earliest I recommend it) you can do any of the TFs Available, like Positron or Synapse.
Recruiting teams in Freedoms Global channels, as well as getting hooked up with a SG/VG helps a ton for teaming as well.
Just dont forget that /search function, and to send tells to people ( using the , key lets you do a /t $target, which makes it real easy to send multiple people tells at once) -
-
Just make your own teams. Be persistent, send tells.
I mean this is my best default script for recruiting: Interested in a Level (insert your level here) team running missions in (insert zone youre in). Level (+5 to your level) and below are fully powered
I spam that to anyone within range of teaming and I can usually get SOMETHING together. I run 8 man teams constantly on villains, just make sure you have enough support to run missions and dont over extend -
Quote:I'm a guy, I wish I had boobies.
I'd spend so much time "checking them for cancer" its not even funny.
with boobies, BOVs, and advanced cloning technology, we could make the inferior female genome obsolete, and begin extermination.
j/k, BOVs aint got n'thin on the real deal, and I dont wanna carry the extra weight of double Ds around.
so all we need is the cloning and mind control tech, then we can start on enslavement.
You know that line? The line people skirt when making terrible jokes but dont quite ever cross?
You just bullrushed that line into emeffin creepy Son.
Tone it down. -

Must be hit and miss then, my 2ndary account hardly ever makes the right deadlines for Re-Activation

Quote:Im back. Unfortunately I didnt anticipate my new work schedule and Im moving soon so my commitment to the League is not there.jeminiks is still on, but it is also his gf playing his acct sometimes.
when asked if he still wanted to participate in the league the reply I got was that he was quitting the game and didn't have time for it.
I'll prolly still screw around in Zones and Arena but anymore is something I cant do, sorry folks.
