We had issues with a peer outside of our network ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for letting us know GR.
  2. You might be able to figure it out from the powers listed in the wiki.

You can pull up a master list of enemies from the "enemies" page. You can then drill down to the groups that you're interested in. The pages usually list the attack powers of each type of mob. In some cases, they list the type modifier as well. (e.g. the Rikti page) If you assume that the same power always has the same modifiers then you're home and dry. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if this assumption is correct!

I have a psy blaster. I'll see if I can find out what his modifiers are tonight.
  3. I don't think you're alone here. I've seen other players talking about this problem in various bug threads so I think it's a known issue. It's probably worth sending an in-game bug report anyway though.

I'm guessing a lot here but I think the levelling pact system works something like this...

It seems that there's an "XP Server" that records the XP your duo earns. This sends messages to your client from time to time to tell it how much XP you've received. (The client doesn't update until it receives this message.) I suspect that the update messages don't work reliably. However, it looks like the client demands an update every time you zone and that this _does_ work OK. The practical upshot is that you tend to get your XP when you zone.
  4. I had problems too. I got lots of lag and rubber banding in missions. I got kicked to the login screen with the "lost connection to map server" message. I had another map server incident but it recovered.

My wife had exactly the same problems at the same times.

FWIW I was monitoring the net connection with the netgraph slash command. There were lots and lots of yellow spikes against a relatively normal green background. This would happen even when the characters had stopped responding.

At times, the mobs continued to attack but we were unable to take any actions. Very odd.

... its not very much and is just a pain when you have to go and pay it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. It would be nice if the devs would either drop base rent or allow us to pay it automatically.
  6. I'm currently using 1280x960. The current layout for Mids works well for me.

It's not much, but procs aren't meant to give massive gamechanging buffs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True. On the other hand, for most other procs if it says 15% chance then you get the effect 15% of the time. With the holds, the proc may fire 15% of the time but it rarely causes any effect.

    [ QUOTE ]
This one works best if you have other hold powers to stack with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately, the only holds I have are the procs themselves.
  8. One thing I _really_ like about merits is that you get them instead of single origin enhancements for completing arcs. SO's seemed desperately lame as a reward; particularly at high levels.
  9. I've got a couple of Chance to Hold procs in my Lvl 50 blaster. They're both in single target ranged attacks that I use frequently.

I've noticed that they don't go off very often. I assume that's because the magnitude isn't very high. I'd estimate that they trigger about 1 time in 20 or 30.

The duration isn't very long either. (5 seconds IIRC.)

Does anyone else feel that the proc could do with a buff? I think either making them happen more often or making them last longer would do. Both would probably be overkill.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I think the idea of day jobs is to give a buff to returning players, or people leveling alts, so the powers are intentionaly of little benefit if you play your character every day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. The issue though is that regular players are getting no benefit at all instead of a small benefit.

Looking at it slightly differently, I find receiving a temporary power that will expire before I can use it to be "un-fun". Every time it happens, it makes me slightly sad.

Changing the day job powers into ones that will take place when I'm ready will make them into nice little bonuses. The bonus drop on mission completion is a good example.

I'm quite happy with the idea that returning players or rarely played alts get a bigger bonus. I just want my little bonus to be fun not un-fun.

Incidentally, this isn't a big issue for me. It's just a small dark cloud that could be turned into a small ray of sunshine.
  11. I'd just like to thank the devs for fixing the toggle problem so quickly. It was driving me nuts. (I'm talking about the inability to turn a toggle off when a power was queued or animating.)

    Thanks guys.

The most recent update to Mids' Hero & Villain Designer is now available, with support for Issue 13!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many thanks Mids. This is a great tool.

Incidentally, the un-install wasn't visible in my normal Vista login. I had to switch to my local admin account. I can't remember if I installed it under the admin account in the first place. This isn't a big deal. I'm must mentioning it in case anyone else has trouble removing the old version.

The other annoyance is that you put it in your tray, then when it runs out it goes again. It would be handy if it could be made to grey out until you get the next recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Sticking a power back in a tray can be quite tedious. At the moment, I disable drag and drop of powers so I don't re-arrange my trays by accident in the heat of battle. I've also filled my first three trays. My fourth tray is empty. This means I need to go through the following steps to use my day job power.

    1) Go into options and enable drag and drop of powers.
    2) Make my 4th tray appear.
    3) Open the powers list.
    4) Drag the power into the tray. (Clicking doesn't work.)
    5) Disable drag and drop again.

That's a lot of effort just to use a power once. I'm not claiming that this a major problem but it is annoying. It would be much easier if we could just trigger the power from the Powers window.

Though I fail to see what the issue is whether we farm them or not. If a mission takes ten minutes and earns one Merit/Character, I fail to see why doing that mission over and over is wrong. As long as I don't force anyone into doing that...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't mind people farming content either. However, the dev's do. I'm sure there will be single missions that could be completed in 30 seconds or less. This would be break the dev's goal of 1 merit per x minutes of play. I was thinking of it from their point of view.

I don't enjoy speed running myself but I don't mind in the least if other people want to do it.
  15. I'd like the old behaviour back too.

I'm pretty sure it used to remember the layout of the recipe window each time you close and re-open it. It doesn't any more. Gnash.

I think that this is the same bug as I'm pretty sure it uses the same window for both the recipes and crafting.
  16. I agree that getting them like VG merits would suit me better. It would also remove the arguments about how many merits should be awarded per task force.
  17. Edit:- Replying to WinterFlare.

It's not a big deal for me either. For one thing, it only affects PUG's that want to do story arcs. I think it would just be a nice bit a icing if everyone shared the award for completing the arc.

Personally it's easier for me to get inf than merits so I won't be using them very often. Once nice thing about them though, is that they let you buy recipes at any level. This means I can buy stuff that just doesn't appear on the market. e.g. Lvl 10 Kismet +To Hit.
  18. Giving 1 merit per mission might make it too easy to farm merits. Perhaps the best solution would be to give each team member the same number of merits as the arc owner. It could be scaled down for team members who were present for only some of the missions. e.g. 1/2 the merits for half the mishes.

This way it would work like task forces.
  19. Exactly. I'd be quite happy if the maximum allowed was quite low. Say 3 or 5. That way I could use it at least once a day.
  20. The consignment house day job gives the power to teleport to the consignment house from anywhere. If you, like me, do a lot of trading then this sounds fantastic.

There's a catch though. To get the power you have to log out in the consignment house. The power is only available for a short time after you've logged back in.

So, by the time I've run a mish or two and want to go back to WW's, the power's disappeared. If I've just logged in then I've got the power and I can teleport to where I am.

    Sigh.

I'm praying that they'll change it to be a "number of uses" power instead.

Kismet only goes to level 30. You might need to move the slider to see it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Confirmed.

As far as I know, the only set recipes you can't buy with merits are the purples.
  22. What I really want is a scanner of some sort to help me find the last mob on the map. You know. The one that rammed itself into some improbably small, dark niche behind a sign saying "Beware of the leopard." (I'm not bitter!)

Ideally it would put a glowy spot on the map. Perhaps hostages could show up in a different colour.

    Influence

You might like to try crafting lvl 50 set items. i.e. buy the recipes, make the item and sell it. I've been making about 15 million inf a day doing this. It takes about 45 minutes of game time a day.

If you want to do this then you'll need to find some good niches. (A niche is a combination of set, item and level such as Numina's, Heal, Lvl 50) Good niches turnover at least 5 items a day and sell for 3 million or more.

You really need to watch a niche for at least a week to find out what the typical prices are. For one thing, they're usually higher at the weekends. They also vary from week to week. It's not unusual for the average of the last 5 items to be 1/2 or double the long term average.

You need to work out how much you can afford to pay for a recipe in order to sell at a profit. Don't forget to figure in the salvage costs, bench price and the Wentworth's listing fee of 10%. The answer is often depressingly low.

My strategy is to bid low for the recipes and then sell at the going rate. I sell most items in less than 2 days this way. If I can't get any recipes at this price then I switch to another niche.

I never hold more than 4 recipes and items of the same type. This limits my losses when the price of a niche collapses.

My top tip is "don't follow the market upwards". Be very careful when the prices of the recipes and the crafted items rise. At some point, the price will crash back down to normal. You don't want to be holding many recipes or items when it happens.
  24. I ran into problems with her as well. I was part of a duo and we got her in the end but it took a lot of lvl 3 inspirations and about 3 face plants each.

The purples helped a lot but at level 50 she had something like 28,000 hit points. The purples will wear off long before you can kill her. So... you need to take about 150 purples with you and eat them continuously. This is impossible so it might be easier to get a PUG together just to help you out. :-)

Most of her attacks didn't do a lot of damage so you might be able to get her if you take lots of lvl 3 wakies with you.
  25. Nuts. I meant Daedalus. Sorry for the confusion.

I just have the names of too many mythic entities floating around in my head. :-)
