Its like waiting in line to get into a club. If you wait 20 mins to get in, get there and find out your clothes are out of style and need to go home and change or be ridiculed, when you try to come back in after changing you don't get to hop to the front of the line. At least not at any clubs I've ever been to without knowing the bouncer.

But allowing the Quit Game function not force a re-login creates more problems than it solves as MANY other posts on this subject have gone into before and some posters here have already said. Minor inconvenience now for players. Possible huge customer service problem if they changed it.
  2. Before the bug started happening, they were right on time. I had to petition for my last one. Guessing they haven't corrected the issue yet.

Earlier, that code did not appear to be working, which is why folks were able to see the character creator.

The servers have been taken down (meaning, not even Beta testers can get to it at the moment) until this issue is fixed.

Now, amid the cries of "Unfair!" and "Why change this now?" I'll explain the purpose of this code change. What we've done is instituted a "Queue" server, so that on really busy weekends, Freedom won't be listed as "unavailable" if it is full, it will simply put you into the "next available slot" queue. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of the issues that crop up from the full server problem.
Wondering...does a lot of people in the character creator affect the servers in any way? It seems that most, if not all, of the character creator could be completely client side and just send the server the information from the client upon completion. As far as various locked costume bits and archetypes and such, those bits could quickly be passed after log-in, then no interaction between the server and the client until the user is done with the creator.

I ask because I could see a reason behind locking non-beta players out of the character creator if there was a server load issue during beta. But if its mostly client side with minimal affect on the server, wouldn't more people hammering on the character creator, especially since its one of the first things new players would see in the game, be a good thing to expose more problems?

Most other issues weren't as focused on the character creator and the costume related features as this one is. Them not blocking it before was less 'lets see what the whole player base thinks of the new costumes' and more that they didn't want to waste the time to block some people from possibly seeing the costumes early when it wasn't really the focus of the issue. Now it is, so they may want to change their process.

However, I hope they do leave it open because I do want to play with it.
  7. Very likely since before comicon they said beta would begin soon after it, then I read an article that said at comicon the devs said they would start beta next (which is now this) week. And Positron twittered yesturday that issue 16 beta was getting closer and closer.

On a side note, that article said that this was going to be a pretty short beta, and that they thought it would be ready for live servers about a month after it hit beta. Impressive if that happens, and I hope it does. I can't wait for my metal spines!

Looking for a link to the article again. If I find it I'll post it.

Though I would think that they would more likely want to get that latest patch fix'd, retested and back live to kill the chat bug once and for all!

No, none of the unlockable emotes are in the list. Only the standard ones. This means none of the super-booster, wedding pack, ones like dice7, etc are in the list. There is a way to manually add it yourself though. Have to search the forums for the link though.

  9. "Is it worth it" is a very subjective question. Its based totally on your goal in the game. If your goal is to get as many merits as possible, depending on the speed you run the TF it might not be. If your goal is to have fun in the game, if you enjoyed your TF run, then yes, its worth it.

Like others have said, this sounds like the team was having trouble and not typical for KHTFs in most cases. Personally I've only run it once or twice myself, and I think it lasted about 30-45 minutes and we had very few deaths if any. I had fun. To me it was worth it.

    Patch 4 August

Here are the patch notes for today: Patch Notes

Typically they won't post the official patch notes until after the patch is officially applied. They do this just in case something surprising comes up and they end up not being able to apply the patch. That seems to be pretty standard practice for most software companies to not give a full detailed list of an update until its officially out the door. It prevents the people from complaining about 'But you said this would do this and now it doesn't'. You may get some hints on what's in it, like for us its a safe bet that the last patch notes from the test server are what is going on live, but if it failed on the test server, something may not get it.

    Active Mission?

Red missions means its the active mission. You can only have one active mission at a time. If you abandon that active mission, the mission will reset and the text will be yellow after that. This can happen from logging off, joining a team with another active mission, or activating another mission yourself.

EDIT: You can activate another mission yourself by simply entering a new mission on your list or (I forget if this is there if not a team, so I could be wrong) on the mission tab, there's a "Select Mission" button that you can use to set another mission if you have multiple.
  12. So I've noticed that with the new forums that the old Dev Digest and Community Digest pages are close to useless now. Anyone have any good tips on how to find the red-name posts?

  14. Serious answer. No you aren't being punished. Its a known issue going on at the moment. Had it myself. In game /petition or /bug saying you should have XYZ vet reward rewarded on a certain date and it was never rewarded. It may take a couple of days but a GM should contact you either through email or in game and help straighten it out. Took about a day or so for mine to get through, but I started it on the weekend when many of them were out so. There was a posting from one of the red names somewhere along the lines, but I can't find it right now to link to it...but its out there somewhere.

    Rogue Theories

I don't understand why everyone seems to think that if a villainous archetype goes heroic that they would have to have access to the ancillary power-sets, or if a heroic archetype going villainous will get access to the current patron power-sets. They may add more power-sets in the patron/ancillary area but I highly doubt that all the sudden a Blaster will get access to the Mu Mastery patron power-sets. Some of the schemes people come up with for this just seem very over complicated.

My prediction is that one of two things will happen:

    1) They will just remove the arc completion requirement from the patron power-sets so they are essentially the same as the ancillary power-sets in that they just open up at level 41. The arcs will remain to actually do, maybe with a respec reward upon completion, but you won't have to complete them to get access to the powers. With the current patron power-set included as being able to be respec'd, the patron arc completion is less significant before and doesn't really hold the same meaning other than you did 1 of 4 arcs, when before it was arc XYZ got you ABC powers. That could be a sign of them just removing the requirement all-together.

    2) They will just introduce heroic equivalents for the rogue villainous archetypes to do unlocking patron arcs for. The power sets will be identical to the current Mu/Leviathan/Mace/Soul Mastery. The patron could be the praetorian versions of the patrons. Missions could be nearly identical as well. Rogue heroic archetypes just have their ancillary pools open up at level 41 as they do now.

The whole idea that because a Blaster is villainous they now have to chose between the Dominator patron pools, or because a Mastermind is heroic they get access to the Tanker ancillary powersets (or whatever ATs you pick, just using as examples) sounds overly complicated and prone to bugs and balance issues since the current sets are balanced and designed for their specific archetypes.

I doubt they would give more respecs to us every time we switch sides so change out the ancillary and patron pools based on our morality because that would kill their micro-transaction setup they currently have for it. Why pay $10 when you could just switch sides and get a freespec.
  16. I play many nights during the week, and a few times this weekend. I RARELY have any problems with disconnecting or mapserving or anything. When I do dc, its usually because of some known issue from a new issue or update that gets fixed with the next patch, or it because of the actual internet connection at my house, which is in no way CoX's fault, more Bellsouth in my area for still 'upgrading' our lines after a year.

Sunday nights, as I saw as a common complaint time, are generally very busy times on the internet too for everything. Evenings, like after 6-7 until about 10-11, are this way as well. I'll bet this is a high game traffic time as well. Everyone home, nothing to do, so surf the web. That means that much more bandwidth being used in other places which to bottleneck. There's only so much bandwidth on ISPs. Depending on your area, if there's a lot of traffic trying to go through one place, which has more to do with your ISP provider and their infrastructure. Not saying that there are never problems on the CoX side, but in my experience I've had very little trouble from something on their side. Its usually something else between my computer and them.
  17. Is double XP applying to the AE missions?

  19. Is there a suggestions thread anywhere started yet? On the villain skin, is there anyway to change the star logo indicating forum status to the arachnos logo instead of the white star in a blue circle?

Has there been any estimate on when I16 will be out?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Plenty. The estimate I agree with is mid/end October.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    That late?

If the closed beta for I16 starts next week I actually suspect there's an outside chance they'll push it live on or around September 1st... Gee, I wonder what else is happening September 1st that our Devs might be trying to have this release coincide with?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sept 1st is too soon. That only gives a month of closed AND open beta testing. If they did, and beta goes that well, great. But very unlikely. I would say at least a month of closed beta testing, and a month of open beta. They want to get this right and this is a new game mechanic that I'll bet will be a pain to test and fix. A month of closed beta testing will put this in open for anyone to play at the beginning of September assuming closed beta starts next week. Open beta will be almost as effective as a mark to match the other MMO. I would say sometime in October as a very realistic mark for issue 16 to hit.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I just want to take a second to thank you guys for being so positive and excited about this feature that's consumed so much of my life for so long. It's been a very long haul and tremendous amount of work from many people on the team. Your excitement about this feature is making it so much easier for me to continue to be excited about it, and that's making it a lot nicer to get through the final stretches of finishing this issue up and into your hands. I can't speak for the other people who've done a tremendous amount of work on this feature as well, but for me personally...it's a huge deal.

The handful of non-glowing responses I've seen have been very reasonable and more in the realm of disappointed but still understanding. For that I'm exceedingly grateful.

So thanks for staying positive and constructive, it makes reading the forums so much easier and working on this game so much more rewarding.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're welcome. Thanks for continuing to make this a great game. Coming from someone who has had to spend the better part of the last year stuck at home due to circumstances I would rather not get into publicly here on the forums, being able to be somewhat social on this game has actually made it much more bearable and helped me to keep SOME sanity. Keep up the good work! There are people out there that what you do does make a difference for.

Have we heard if we can change the powers customization based on the costume slot, or is it going to be one set of power color customization for one character?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Powers can be individually customized per costume slot, but not supergroup mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cool!...My first direct responce from a red name Sorry...had to do it.

And because it CANNOT be said enough...thank you BABs (especially for this feature...been wanting it since the game started), as well as all the devs, for all of your hard work on continuing to improve upon and keep this game great. I got into this game because of a now-failed relationship, but you guys and gals keep proving that something good did come from it.
  25. I do...I've referenced it several times the last few weeks.
