Thank you, Kitsune. Not sure why it didn't dawn on me to try that before. But after rebooting to safe mode, I was able to get it to launch, and it updated to a different version. I let it do it's thing, and then rebooted back into normal mode. I attempted to launch and it worked. It is updating and installing CoX and Aion again (I mistakenly uninstalled per "recommendation" when trying to uninstall the launcher on one of the first tries).

Wandering Aries & Texas Justice - Thank you for your help (and patience) as well! You guys are all awesome!

Will definitely give that a try... but something odd just happened. I accidentally brought up the old CoX launcher... it ran through the checksum, and now it's launched, even though it said in nice big graphics that it is no longer supported.

    EDIT:
But it gave me a message that it couldn't connect to the game server. Rebooting into safemode now.

Gave it a whirl... at first it looked like it might launch, since the launcher was showing in the task manager for more than a blip... but then it just did like it has been doing. Tried launching a couple more times, and still nothing.

Thanks, TJ. I will give this a shot when I get home this evening.

Thank you, Aries. This was one of the first thing I tried after ensuring that all NCS games (Aion, CoX) were trusted applications. Still an issue.

    Edit:
I also disabled MBAM to ensure that wasn't an issue either.

If so, do you have the launcher showing up in your System Tray (possible in the area you have to expand to see)? Also, sometimes it starts behind all other windows with a dialog box open so it won't show up in the task bar until you dismiss it, so minimizing everything else might reveal it.

Posting a CoH Helper and (more importantly) a HiJack This log would help if you still haven't found it.
Same thing happens in processes. It briefly flashes, but then immediately disappears. Unfortunately, nothing in the systray.

    EDIT:

  7. I have been having issues with the NCLauncher not launching (kind of ironic, eh?) on my XP SP3 desktop machine. (Yes, I know, it's a bit dated, but still gets the job done).

I have not gotten to enjoy any CoX lovin' and missed quite a bit on Aion (thanks to no emails sent to consumers by NCSoft before all of the changes... yay).

All of my other games (CoD - multiple versions and Tera) run without issue. It is only this God-forsaken launcher that is causing me mayhem. I have tried multiple things to resolve, including uninstalling all versions of .NET and reinstalling the version recommended by NCSoft support (there was a nice little page with all of this provided). Unfortunately, it still does the same thing... it briefly flashes and then does nothing. I never had issues like this prior to having to use the NCLauncher app.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance for any replies.

    Edit:
My apologies for posting this in the Mac Users forum, but I cannot seem to get help anywhere else and this was the first RECENT post I have seen with similar issues.

Good call guys! I checked and sure enough, my damn badge is gone. I cant recall what other badges may be missing either. This blows. Petition sent. Thanks for all of the quick replies!
  10. Hey guys (and gals)... thanks for all of the info. I havent logged this toon in a long while, and have actually never done an SF with him. I have not done any of the architect mishes either. I will check for the badge and petition if need be, as well as delete the checksum file, and let you all know how it turns out. Thanks again for all of the info!
  11. It's been ages since I've logged my Villain. I am a lvl 50 corruptor with the GW patron power set. I logged in and the patron powers that I have are grayed out and unable to be used. I did a "sample" /respec and it seems the patron pool isnt available. Are the patron powers no longer available? Has something changed in the eons of time that I havent logged in in which I need to complete in order to get my powers usable again? Thanks in advance CoXers!
  12. One thing I think could be really helpful, at least for those of us who don't tend to document what powers and slots are taken at each new level, is a system that will show you exactly which powers you took at each level, and which slots you granted at each level. Hopefully nobody laughs toooo hard at that idea.
  13. Mmmm... makers... a fine choice... a fine choice indeed...

Im pretty new to the CoH community and noticed that in the past there have been seasonal baddies (the snowmen) that pop up. I was thinking that there should be something for the summertime... everyone likes a nice summer picnic... until they are invaded by those blasted army ants! I think there should be giant army ants (man-sized, in an army uniform) that start springing up all over PC during the summer time.

My "understanding" seems to be broken, what?

    Sorry; 'hootch'.

EDIT: I'm setting a bad example, I'm sure. Kids, you get the same effect by extending your arms and spinning around really fast about two hundred times. Really.
