Quote:I was planning on making a post just like this until I read it. One thing to clarify though. Video game prices are almost all higher than they were 10 years ago. I don't know if they increased from the PS generation to the PS2 generation because I was quite young at the time, but as for the change from the PS2 to the PS3 generation, most games cost more now. Portable games cost $35 or higher now (unless the game in question totally sucks) as opposed to $30 like they were in the day of the game boy advance. PS3 and Xbox 360 games cost $60. Wii games still cost $50 like games did in the previous generation, but there are far fewer Wii games than PS3 and 360 ones. Not to mention that the Wii's technology isn't all that much better than the previous generation's, so it most likely costs about the same to make a Wii game........Anyways, to get to the topic at hand, the pack sounds awesome and I can already think of a few characters that could use parts from it. I agree that alternate animations for the /traps and /devices sets would be great. Maybe if we players mention it enough it will happen (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge). I also love the travel power, finally I have a way to justify why my "natural" character is somehow able to travel in ways that aren't possible for normal humans. Also it hasn't happened all that often yet, but I've noticed a chunk of newer video games have had PC price points of $59.99. Most notably it's the games that are expected to sell well (the more 'big' games). It kind of makes me sad since the prices there have been stable for so long. I'd mention about console games making that shift, but I don't recall when that happened exactly, though I wouldn't be surprised if it happened with the shift from the PS to the PS2 or thereabouts.

Thanks so much. Yeah I don't know much, or anything, about the finer points of building theory, so it isn't a surprise to hear I made some bad choices. Thanks for the build Blissful Chaos.

Quote:I think it would be easier for us to give feedback if you said more about how you plan to play this character and what you are trying to accomplish. Your defense seems rather low if you plan on soloing much, but if you are primarily acting as a support character this might not make a difference.
There also look like a few oversights--I notice that you have 6 endurance enhancements in Stamina. I would expect to see just 3 in there if you don't want an IO benefit, or to have actual IOs in there from a set if you plan to 6-slot it.
I plan on using this character for task forces and mission teams, so no I won't be soloing. -
Hey there people,
I was wondering if I could get some comments, criticism, and advice on this build. It's my first time actually planning out a build using mids, so please keep any death threats you might want to make because of my lack of experience to a minimum. Anyways, without further delay...

As somebody currently working on making a viable PVP toon one annoying fact has become apparent to me: PVP IOs drop when you defeat other players in PVP, but you can't defeat other players in PVP (or at least not many) if you don't have PVP IOs. So far I've been using AE tickets and exploiting market behavior to generate inf, but it's been fairly slow considering the billions of inf I'll need to buy the PVP IOs and the fact that I'm really only just starting to learn how to use the market to get money. So my question is this: would simply setting up an arena match with some of my sg mates (who also lack PVP IOs) so we could fight each other for a few hours yield any PVP IO drops for us, or is the drop rate so low that we'd be better off doing something else?
-
I've spent some time thinking about it and sifting through the forums and I think I'll go with an elec/wp stalker since they sound fun and relatively simple to use (thus being better for someone new to pvp) and people agree that they're good toons. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Quote:For the most part I'm interested in playing in RV, but other types of PVP sound fun too.The first question we should have asked is whether you want to fiteclub in Arena, Farm in RV or actually participate in competitive team PvP with these toons?
Given the advice I've gotten at this point I'm going to resort to making a new toon. I'm hesitant to make a psi/em because psi is relatively new to blasters and I'm worried the devs will get mad about how good it is and nerf it, thus making all the time I put into it a waste. I'd be willing to try anything else that works well. Thanks to all the people who've offered advice so far. -
Hey everyone,
I've been playing CoH for a while now but only just recently became interested in trying out PVP. I know that PVE builds don't exactly translate well to PVP, and I don't know much about how to make a pvp toon. So my question is this: Would my mace/wp brute do well in PVP? I want to work on that toon because I love it, but if people respond with "How dare you even suggest such a thing, I'm going to kill you and your family!" I will be willing to try something else, and implore you to leave my family alone because they are decent, hard-working people who have done nothing to you....Anyways, if it is an ok idea I'd appreciate anything from general advice to a build that would work well. If it isn't, here are some other toons I have that I could work on if you think they'd be ok in PVP:
50s
Martial Arts/invuln scrapper
ice/ice blaster
Dark/rad defender
peacebringer (most likely a terrible idea I know)
EM/EA stalker
necro/traps MM
non-50s
nrg/kin corr
pistols/rad corr
emp/nrg def
elec/shield scrapper
kin/fire scrapper
stone/elec tank
elec/battle axe
If these are all terrible ideas for PVP, does anyone have a suggestion other than a Psi/em blaster or a /regen scrapper? -
Man do I feel like an idiot! I have a bane and thought I'd make a crab build for fun when I was bored. Should have thought about it more. You'd think this wouldn't be THAT hard of an issue to solve. Just make it so people can only have the backpack on their character if their character has crab powers.
