Decided that I want to try to re-install the game. But after uninstalling it I found out that cohupdater.eu.exe was in my downloads folder, so I think it would have worked if I just moved it from there to the install folder ._. Oh well, re-installing now... or, re-downloading rather said :/

Quote:okay, you're short cut needs to point to CohUpdater.eu.exe
Your properties box for your shortcut to the game should look like this:
It says in the error box:
"The name "C:\Program Files\City Of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe", which is written in the target box, isn't correct. Check the file path and the file name to see if it's correct." Not that good a translation form my side, but I did my best. -

That's what my account info for COH says -
Quote:I'm from Norway, and I downloaded the game from https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ga...r94b&product=5 I believe, or, when I finished creating the trial account I got redirected to a page where I could choose to download it for mac or pc.According to this thread you downloaded the trial: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=249449
Where are you physically located at? (What country, state)
Where did you download the trial from? (what site?) -
Quote:How do I know what client I have?I've heard of others who had a similar problem because they downloaded the wrong version of the game.
There is a "NA" version and an "EU" version.
I am not a techy person, but perhaps if you posted in the Tech Forums above, you might get a better answer. This section of the forums usually answers questions like "where do I find <X> faction?" -
I was told to repost my thread here:
everytime I try to log in to COH, I get a message telling me "The account name or password that you have entered is incorrect" and I can assure you that it is the right password and account name!
Why can't I log in? -
I moved the game folder into "C:\program files\city of heroes" and now the game launches. Only problem I got now is that everytime I try to log in, I get the message "The account name or password that you have entered is incorrect" and I know I wrote in the correct information

Quote:Actually, I'm using a windows vista ._.... okay. I'm just guessing here but you are using Windows 7 right?
And you told the computer to pin to your taskbar the program that was running, right?
Unpin that icon.
Navigate to D:\Program Files (x86)\CoH
(or D:\Program Files\CoH if you are using Windows 7 32bit), and pin the cohupdater file.
and I'm not sure what you're at... I mean, I have a normal taskbar that shows what programs that are running, but I also have anotherbar with shortcuts on. -
Quote:It's not about my computer specs, it's more about how the updater is built up I believe, since the game runs perfectly fine, or, at least it did until I was going to start it up again only to find out the updater wants to install the game again, when I have it installed.Hmm, not sure. I run CoH from the Program Files director:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.exe"
You might want to check and see if you have a copy there, the updater may have installed things differently than you think.
Otherwise: What other symptoms do you see? Does the down load restart? It shouldn't, there should be a quick check and then a license agreement to click through.
If you are really unsure of your new settings, try starting in Safe Mode, which is a minimum settings & resolution mode so you can get back into the game and tweak stuff.
That's about all I got. Try posting in the Technical Issues forums, those guys are pretty smart and can spot problems quickly.
Oh, the obvious would be for you to post your system stats. OS version, video card, memory, video driver, etc. It'll help get things started. -
I have disabled icons on my desktop, I use a taskbar to place shortcuts on.

So I just finished downloading COH, and logged in with my trial account. I create a character, and venture into the world, but before I do anything I change my settings, screen resolution etc etc, and quit the game to make them apply. But when I open the cohupdater.exe again, it asks me to choose an install folder, and I choose the folder where I installed the game "D:\City Of Heroes" and it says "you may be out of disk space" or bla bla bla, but I already know I have plenty of disk space, so I suppose it won't overwrite.
So my problem is; the game won't open! It tries to install again! Why? What can I do to fix this? Do I have to re-install it to "c:\program files"? 'Cause I don't really see myself doing that, as I use D:\ for games... -

But why does it do that?
How do I launch the game now? I really want to play, so please help!
Thank you!
