Updater issue? HELP!

So I just finished downloading COH, and logged in with my trial account. I create a character, and venture into the world, but before I do anything I change my settings, screen resolution etc etc, and quit the game to make them apply. But when I open the updaer again, it asks me to choose a install folder, and I choose the folder where I installed the game "D:\City Of Heroes" and it says "you may be out of disk space" or bla bla bla, but I already know I have plenty of disk space, so I suppose it won't overwrite.

But why does it do that?
How do I launch the game now? I really want to play, so please help!
Thank you!

Hmm, not sure. I run CoH from the Program Files director:

"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.exe"

You might want to check and see if you have a copy there, the updater may have installed things differently than you think.

Otherwise: What other symptoms do you see? Does the down load restart? It shouldn't, there should be a quick check and then a license agreement to click through.

If you are really unsure of your new settings, try starting in Safe Mode, which is a minimum settings & resolution mode so you can get back into the game and tweak stuff.

That's about all I got. Try posting in the Technical Issues forums, those guys are pretty smart and can spot problems quickly.

Oh, the obvious would be for you to post your system stats. OS version, video card, memory, video driver, etc. It'll help get things started.

right off hand, if you installed your game to a different folder, that's going to be the problem.

The game should have set a separate icon on your desktop that points to the install location. You may have to adjust the shortcut to point to the correct drive.

I have disabled icons on my desktop, I use a taskbar to place shortcuts on.

It's not about my computer specs, it's more about how the updater is built up I believe, since the game runs perfectly fine, or, at least it did until I was going to start it up again only to find out the updater wants to install the game again, when I have it installed.

... okay. I'm just guessing here but you are using Windows 7 right?

And you told the computer to pin to your taskbar the program that was running, right?

Unpin that icon.

Navigate to D:\Program Files (x86)\CoH

(or D:\Program Files\CoH if you are using Windows 7 32bit), and pin the cohupdater file.

Actually, I'm using a windows vista ._.
and I'm not sure what you're at... I mean, I have a normal taskbar that shows what programs that are running, but I also have anotherbar with shortcuts on.

Okay. Is this what you have going on?

That little bar next to the the start menu?

For reference, that is called the Quick Launch.

I moved the game folder into "C:\program files\city of heroes" and now the game launches. Only problem I got now is that everytime I try to log in, I get the message "The account name or password that you have entered is incorrect" and I know I wrote in the correct information

It is now re-posted on the Tech board.

That's what it sounds like to me too. I suggested the same thing in the new thread.
