Yes. I too would like an answer to this question.
  2. Right... so. Oddities. Apparently I don't have WindowBlinds, (Or at least there's no such program in my control panel) but StarDock's 'My Colors', which is much the same, was the culprit. Tried re-setting the exclusions, no luck. Uninstalled it completely, vioala!

Thank you very much for the help hunting it out. Now, back to heroing. Up, up, and avoid that building!

WindowBlinds is set to ignore CoH. I've successfully run CoH and WB for the last several years. I apologize for not mentioning that earlier - I am aware of that potential conflict but forgot to mention it earlier.

The last time I had this problem I ended up having to replace the video card to resolve it. I'm hoping to avoid that this time if at all possible.
  4. I have tried the fix with the "-ps 64.25.34.144", though I'm not getting any error message. It downloaded the patch and proceeded on from the update to the loading screen. Where it once again froze.

Let me stress that I don't get any kind of error message. I don't get to the login screen, or the server selection. The title screen with the CoH title image above the massed signature characters with 'Loading' to the right is as far as I get.

The game never loads past this screen.
  5. I was able to log in successfully as recently as Friday, December 17. I believe I ran the Khan task force with some friends that evening. Attempting to log in the following day met with disappointment. I have tried the few fixes I could think of on my own - updated drivers, turning off superfluous programs, even ran a virus check just in case. Fix failed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  7. My game client will no longer load past the title screen. The program reads as not responding no matter how long I let it wait before opening the task manager. It's a very nice picture, but makes for a slow night.

I am able to log in successfully in safe mode, which makes me suspect it may be graphics related. If I try to adjust the graphics settings after logging in with safe mode, the client stops responding. I'm not much of a technophile though, and may easily be completely wrong.

I did download and install the most recent graphics drivers just in case - no luck.

Below I have included the COH Helper and Hijack This reports.

  8. Always happy to try something new, one never knows where a solution might come from. In this case, not so much.

Jiggled all the power connections, made sure they were tight. Changed the settings as advised. No noticeable difference.
  9. Killed the docks, set the exceptions. Still nada.

So I tried running COH in safe mode, which worked. Saved the graphics options, restarted in normal mode. Changed the screen resolution just fine, but when I try to make changes to the graphics quality I get the waiting icon and it just sits there... much like the loading screen previously.

I am hoping (Fingers crossed) that your next suggestion is not 'Replace the graphics card' 'cause this one's not even a year old. Well... in terms of how long it's been since I bought and installed it, anyway.
  10. The updater starts and runs just fine. After I click 'accept', the title loading screen comes up and that's where I get stuck.

I tried closing and restarting the program, and the computer as a whole, no luck. Updated all the drivers, still no go. Below are the results of HijackThis and COH Helper.

Any assistance you can provide will be very much appreciated.
  11. This idea is awesome. Story-wise, I can see the justification for the idea of the level locking, but playwise, I would want to bring my high level toons across lines to team with lower level characters. The idea of blackmail, or a 'mutually beneficial, but temporary arrangement' works for forcing higher level toons to help their lower level 'enemies'.

Also, why are so many people so opposed to fully realized, well thought out, and well written ideas? Good grief people, if you don't want to read, what are you doing in a forum in the first place?

Big thumbs up, and major kudos on a great idea. I particularly enjoyed the short story that prefaced it - now I want to know more about Thundra, Hyperton, and Giganaut.

Heroes_Demise asked me this in a PM, too (welcome to the forum!).

I answered it in a PM back.

Neat. So... how do you do it?
