As a Computer Scientist with 15 years experience in various aspects of software development and design I must concur. It's truly amazing how much we don't know when we graduate and how much we think we do. It's like being a teenager all over again...but with less angst and acne.
  2. This thread is excellent and really hits close to home for me.

I have 8 and 11 year old boys who have been playing since launch. My 11 year old uses his allowance money to maintain his own account and purchase upgrades, etc ( he gave me 10 bucks for the wedding pack just for the tux options ) :P, while my 8 year old uses his mother's account and a third computer I built specifically so we could play CoX as a family.

We have a blast logging in and being evil or smacking around the baddies! lol

It is great to have a game that I can share with them that allows them to be creative and learn while having fun.
  3. I still find it odd that we havne't received any redname feedback on this.

Well, spent this morning calling the 20 Walmart stores with in 30 miles me (I figure thats a good cut off point : ) And none of them seem to have a single GvE box on their shelves. Again most of them are telling me that it's probably only an online store exclusive... if that's the case I wish we would have been told.

I suppose it makes sense though... CoX probably isn't a massive seller and an edition that will only draw those who want to save download time or those who must-have all available perks well that's not gonna be a big seller. Shipping it and guessing at demand would probably be hard too. Feh I guess I'll wait for the NCSoft online version... though I really wanted the DVD disc with all the updates.

I just ran across the highway to the Walmart Supercenter. Still nothing. The guy there looked like I'd sprouted another head when I asked about it.

I suppose this is an online only deal. I too wish we had been told ahead of time if this is the case. I wanted this set for the DVD, but I suppose I'll wait for the online version from NCSoft.

Walmart's confirmed not selling it until the 9th. None of my 24-hour Walmarts have it, and they told me on the phone with Merchandising and Customer Service (both supervisors) that they weren't selling it until the 9th, which I just had confirmed for me in-store (supervisor again). It's not a question of "Oh I don't know when it's going to be in." it's "Yes, this will be out on the 9th."

    What happened?

I have a Walmart supercenter across the highway from where I work. I took a looksie over there on the way into work this morning. Nada. So, apparently there was some kind of mistake. I would have asked someone about it...but there were no employees handy as usual.

Hopefully we can get something official regarding this.

I just checked the walmart.com website. It does show it currently in stock and with a 1 day delivery selected it would arrive between October 2-3 plus any processing time.

So, I'm wondering if the 29th was internet exclusive only?

    *edited to add website stuff*
  6. Yeah...I checked this morning and saw it there as well. Says in stock so I suppose that's a good sign for those purchasing in store or online via wallyworld site.
  7. I'm still confused on one thing. If this is a Wal-Mart exclusive, how come this edition is not listed on the Walmart.com website. It seems as though they would want to advertise the exclusivity.
  8. Best of luck to you cuppa! I will sacrifice some Longbow in your honor tonight. Seriously though, you will be missed.
  9. Happy Anniversary! Thanks for a great 2 years. Playing CoX is a family affair at my house. My wife and 2 kids all play as well as my brother and his girlfriend who are in another state.

Wanted to send a special thanks to States, Posi, _castle_, cuppa, awry and everyone else who helps to make Paragon and The Isles such interesting and entertaining places to reside.

Thanks for the ride and me and mine are ready for more!
  10. Thanks for the info Castle! I know it's been said before but I'll say it again. You rock! Thanks for all the hardwork and feedback.

    Have a cookie!

I'd like to do both, actually (and both my Brute and my Stalker use it!) But, alas, Aid Self isn't changing. Healing Flames, on the other hand, might get a boost.

  11. I'm sure I copied someone too.:P But....this heart stuff is fun!
  12. Just wanted to wish the best Gil. I have truly enjoyed your articles and how they made Paragon come alive for me. Also thanks for being the first red name to ever answer one of my posts.

    Farewell wordslinger!
