This might be foolish of me for even suggesting it but could we try to dial down the antagonism? This topic is apparently divisive to start with but making "cute" comments at each other doesn't help.
Just a request...
Carry on... -
@Snow Globe - I'd quote your post but I'd rather not build a "wall of text"... so just take this for what it's worth... I agree with your post and your assessment. Thanks for posting!

Quote:Thank you for posting! I agree completely with what you've written, especially since I feel the same way but couldn't explain myself as well as you have...While I think the packs are a good idea in theory, in practice they're horribly off-putting for anyone that just wants the costume set/whatever you want in the packs. Why make us jump through hoops/turn a huge section of the playerbase off by essentially telling us the only way to buy a costume set could end up costing many times more than just a normal costume pack for a chance at getting some of the set? Sure, it's nice that for 80 points you could randomly get a costume piece you don't own. But why didn't the Devs just make it so that the Superpacks have a random chance to drop any costume piece you haven't yet bought in the store? That would be worth it, because if I didn't get the costume piece, I'd just go in the store and buy it separately anyway! (and the chance to get a emote or costume piece I don't already have could theoretically be nice for the occasional 80pp toss.)
The problem isn't that what you're getting for the fifteen dollars in 24 packs isn't useless/crappy, but that it's unwanted (for the most part, especially for someone like me that doesn't need/want any of the enhancers/boosters/etc.) and it feels really, really silly to not want to take my monies because I don't want to trust the same random chance that governs whether I get a purple IO drop or not for actual money on top of my subscription price and would rather just spend a flat sum of money for the 'expansion' of small costume pieces and a vanity pet.
It does feel like a blatant grab for money. If they offer the set within a week or two I'd be fine with it, but zwill's post about it not even being up for discussion yet is disheartening with a company I like to support. It's not enough to drive me off of CoH, but it is enough that I won't be spending a penny on these packs, and leaves me dissatisfied with the decision enough to come on to the forums and post about it!
So yeah, Feedback! Yay! Elemental Order set is a very pretty set, most likely why I spent the time writing and editing this post to not have too many typing mistakes:P -
I'm with you on this...

I'm not in favor of this particular deal from whomever thought it up. It just rankles me in general. Yes, I'm fully aware that I'm not forced to purchase it - so if we can skip those helpful comments, it would be great. I think it opens the door for more "deals" like this and I'd like to be marked down in the column that disapproves. Thanks...

Just finished the "In Pursuit of Liberty" mission. Overall, I thought it was a well-designed and entertaining arc. I enjoyed the story and thought it was well written. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
As far as my story is concerned, I'd like you to play through "Reaffirmation!" by Zauberi. It is Arc ID# 369506.
