Suggestion:
A way to enable auto deduction and thus auto pay base rent or in the alternative, the ability to pay base rent in advance for 6 months or a 1 year. -
From what Ive seen there are 2 schools of thought, damage mitagation via death, and damage mitigation via take in on the chin. I am more of the former then latter. Granted if I have to take alpha I need a candy store. But for team play Hoarfrost and Hibernation seem to work well enough to get through most fights without candy - also damage mitigation via running bout like a chicken with your head cut off helps a lot also (smile).

Sure thing on the rebuild from scratch, always nice to see how other put these things together... (also note: that build is running Musculature Alpha slot, the Def is actually pretty good if you go wth Agility (for trials) and Nerve (for lvl 50 PvP)) won't win any contest and you rarely kill things ... but you can sure scare people.

Quote:I thought I conceded this point, and missed the response last time through. I agree and visa versa - I have a few toons that look awe inspiring in mids and turn out flakey. Great example is an ice/time corr. Unbeliveable stats - to hit debuff - defense debuff -My point is that "fun" can't really be quantified by the raw stats. Even if you're looking for functionality, Mids can't always give a fair picture of what can be done with a set. A set can look bad on paper and be awesome in application. Some sets take more skill to use than others, and those are generally the ones that look bad on paper.
defense buff - slow - stackable holds - healing - all the bells and whistles - but over all performance - to me - mediocre at best - and yet, it's a hoot to play.
Peace -
I have to amend something, @ lvl 35 slotted as previously stated, end becomes pretty much a non-issue. I guess it's just being paitent and getting it slotted enough to be effective, sometime not my strong suite. (Granted this toon is a glorified taunt dummy) I'll have to see how it does against Cimeroians and some high lvl mission... but as far as end went, just finished Citadels TF, and wasn't panting or falling over at the end.
As for the effects vs. costumes, I seem to remember a lot of toons named things like "little ball of snot" and the like back in the day. Not sure if they changed that or not, but you can see your costume now even with all the toggles running.
On Freedom I haven't seen any dark armor at lower lvls and it's rare to see it at high lvls.
Peace guys!

Quote:Open your eyes and look around... do you see people using dark armor? (other then having it farmed to lvl 50 so they can make their 'Ultra builds") I haven't seen a single Dark Amor toon in ages (nother reason I wanted to look at it again).Do not presume to speak for others when all you can do is speak for yourself.
Several have already indicated in this thread that they like the set. Do you speak for them when you say "people don't like it"?
Here's the build I'm currently using. Might as well put it up so you guys can get a good laugh.

Quote:LOL @ this. Yeah, as you say whatever. I didn't like fire armor either... deleted several tanks that were lvl 40+ before they 'fixed' it. Brutes weren't invented yet. As someone else pointed out - You don't see Dark Armor around - So I figured I'd take another look at it. In the process I figured I'd see what the feeling was about Dark Armor - ie. why people didn't play it much. I guess I got my answer - Because people don't like it. Thanks!Whatever. If YOU don't like dark armor, don't play it. But don't screw up a set that I like.
Peace! have a great morning/evening/night

The man who knows he knows nothing, really knows. -
Quote:Not at all, as previously stated my first lvl 50 toon was a Spine/Dark Scrapper - Which was pre Mid's days as well - (not to mention pre reduced debt - and you had to walk to the hollows and run away from lvl 20 troll mobs - in the snow - barefoot - up hill - both ways.If you're using Mids and raw numbers to tell you whether something will be fun to play or not, you're doing it horribly wrong.
I do take your point and meaning though. Having a viable build @ lvl 50 is usually what I am looking for in mids. Enjoying game play with the toon (lvl 22-50 in this case) without SO's on Dark your an out of breath walking debt badge - is actually kind of what I am getting at - granted it doesn't seem to get much better @ lvl 35 thus far - unless I want to spend oodles of infl on IO sets that I will probably replace 1/2 of when I get to 47. Given that now days if you play a toon regularly it doesn't take very long to go from 35-50 that seems fairly ineffcient. -
Quote:Okay! I stand corrected - that is one build that makes me say Wow, that might be fun to play!!!Okay, I was mistaken.
Energy resistance will be 44% and Toxic will be 47%. Fire and Cold will be over 60% resistance.
It doesn't show it on the build, but the resistance buff from Sky Splitter will take Negative resistance to 89.5%, and the second stack of teh Tanker ATO proc will cover the last .5%.
Actually, I forgot to take into account the second stack of the ATO proc. I was right the first time, everything WILL be over 50% resistance.
Anyway, here's my build. It's not finalized, but it's what I'm looking at in terms of building toward. Yes, it does include Incarnate powers, but it will still be very solid without them.
---|[/code]
(Note - your better off putting Miracle Heal and Miracle proc in Health - and moving the Numina's proc to Physical Perfection)
Thanks for the response. -
Quote:That looks pretty similar to a few of the builds I was poking around at, but to me the point of running a toon is to enjoy playing it lvl 1-50, the 50+ play is icing on the cake, not the 'meat and potato's'. Granted my view on how to win this game is fill every slot on every server with lvl 50's and poof, you win. That build does look interesting and did give me a few things to 'take home with me' but the game states "you don't have to have IO's to play it, and that the game was not made harder because of IO's" - or something like that, funny I think they do need to make the game harder to be honest but I digress. Ty for the look it was definately worth the time!

_____________
One man's dinner is another man's bait. -
So when are you guys going to do something with dark armor? After poking around in mids for a while I quickly came to a conclussion, Dark Armor is pretty freaking horrible. Ironic that my first lvl 50 was a Spine/Dark Scrapper. (Yes, I remember having to keep a kin or two on pay roll for SB because of end consumption) ((Also note: this was pre-IO days)) But after looking it over again with Mid's I still don't see any builds that make me say "Wow, that might be fun to play". I decided to muck around with a Dark Tank, still not sure what Secondary to take, I did manage to get a Dark/Ice up to about 35ish but am leary of putting any Set IO's in it. Yeah I know, just get it to lvl 50 and take incarnate stuff to make it work.. bleh - and people wonder why farmers make so much money.
This set could really use some help IMHO, I guess the Tier 9 power as "Soul Transfer" should be taken as a sign? -
I always chuckle when I see "ultimate" anything in this game. I'm not sure if I believe the idea that a good player can even make a barn door into a Lamborghini (you can't make chicken salad out of chicken poop) but I do believe that player ability has a lot to do with how well a toon performs. That being said the next factor would be playing style. Some people play like they have a chip on thier shoulder - something to prove and will pursue that goal above and beyond anything else - whenever I see Ultimate "insert AT here" that's usually what comes to my mind. The ones that rush ahead and committe to fights - if they can pull off the ulitmate bit and everyone else doesn't die it's all good. There are a lot of good players in this game - a lot of people that can pull this off. With incarnate stuff even the average player can do a fair job of it.
As for a particular build - I don't think cookie cutter toons work. Yes a superior build will achieve superior results but it comes down to the ability to use the toon the way it should be used. If you build a toon with all the whistles and bells and don't know how to use them, chances are it's not going to work too well. (Now that I've stated the blantantly obvious - lets talk about team dynamics) To me - fun is when it's a group of people with not so perfect builds act together to over come an obstackle by taking up the slack in each others builds so that everyone doesn't die and the end goal is acchieved.
Wow I'm just rambling on and on - someone turn the game back on - quick.
Ummm what was I rambling about again? Oh yeah Kittens.. Fluffy kittens are the cutest! Especially the ones with huge eyes that look all innocent. A friend of mine has a cat named Tisk... the large shadowy figure wonders off into the the morning light muttering about pie and the lack of respect of younng whipper-snappers and their crazy music. -
I think they did a great job with Staff - it doesn't seem to rely on accuracy to make combo's work (as in DB) - it does good AoE damage (which seemed lacking in StJ) - and it's not slower then molases (TW). I've been having a lot of fun with a Staff/Regin Scrapper (which is the point right?)
As you were.

Quote:I guess bill collectors or EOE in nature. ((I think this is a perk, not a bug... but that's my guess))This seems a bit odd. Not only should you not be able to pay VG base upkeep except to the contact in Port Oakes (and similarly for SG bases and the contact in Atlas), you shouldn't be able to pay upkeep for a base you no longer have the alignment to be able to use.

Here's a 10 minute build not great as I'm not a big fan of invunerablity... the nice thing is you can control click on dull pain and it become perma giving about 2.2K hitpoints. Also the S/L defense isn't great 34%ish but the S/L resistance is up to 67ish if I remmeber right... max is 75%. not a great build ... but maybe it will give you a few ideas.

I have heard of dark builds that can tank GM's and what not... though I haven't really played in Mids with Dark to figure out the secret... the one tidbit I got advice wise was the which Epic/Patron pool to take and I think I heard electric.. though Mace Mastery seems like a better choice for the Def in Scorpian Sheild... I would really need to crunch numbers before I could offer any real help.

To me the real question is what are the long range effects of giving farming a legitamate place in AE - Have any of you read the help channel lately? Do you want people that ask "What does the sprint power do, and how does it help me" running around with lvl 50s? Is making an easy, fast way to get to lvl 50 really going to help the game in the long run? I'm not a psych major, but it seems the more effort people put into something the more they appreciate it - and vice versa. Though that is old school work eithic talking not modern day gaming. So I guess the question becomes... do you play your toons more or less after they reach lvl 50?... the only lvl 50's I play on a regular bases are my Farmers and that is when I can't find a regular, low lvl teams or just want mindless mayham. Not sure how I really feel about it or what the long range consquences of doing such a thing would have on the game.

One idea that occured to me after I finished my last "rant" was
The ability to lock IO storage bins (as an option or optional ability via the drop down menu on permissions) so that only the person that puts an item into the bin has the ability to take it out... or in the alternative on option to make things "mine only" when you put them in a bin.
Another idea I put forth years ago was about the base Med center thingys... I don't bother putting them in my newer bases as nobody uses them... but if upon dying you hit the base med center and it redeposited you outside the door of the mission you died in (via the base exit)... I would probably put med centers back in my bases because then they would actually be useful.
just some random thoughts..

2 cents worth... as a base builder (yeah I have 8 or 9 of them) and would like to see 'new stuff' added to the 'old stuff'. The down side is that most poeple don't really go into bases unless they want to TP someplace (and the Oro tper and Pocket D tper hasn't recharged yet) or they want to build/store something because it's a lot shorter walk to the base portal then to a University/Personal storage locker/you ran out of space at WW/BM and have to put it someplace and that's assuming you feel comfortable putting that LOGgr in a public bin.
Maybe giving the folks that are in charge something to aim at instead of whining and moaning would work better. Whats the old saying... "you can attract more baffaloe with partially hydrogenized corn syrup then red dye number 8?"
I saw several really good suggestions for what you can use bases for... maybe focusing on those and putting forth ideas that will broaden the use of bases instead of worrying about being able to put something that looks cool in them would help. The number of people that actually use bases is probably directly proportional to the amount of time and energy that goes into thinking about them by the powers that be.

If I had a hammer... I'd hammer in the morning.. I'd hammer in the evening.. all over this land... -
Oh 1 more thing. Maybe use the filter to auto sort the content into the respective catagories... most farms have the word "FARM" in the discription/title/someplace.
____________
A penny for your thoughts... $20 bucks to act them out. -
So there seems to be 2 real catagories as far as AE is concerned.
Farmers and OP (other people)
Seems simple to me - 2 tabs.
Make one called Agricultural Selections
and one called Content Missions
One idea that stuck in my mind is being able to block out AE missions that you don't want to see in a search... via a garbage can (if your familiar with limewire from a few years ago) or some other such device that takes it off your search list... this might also detract from putting negative stars on things (I have been known to do so when there is a mission I access repeatedly and it's not on the page where I can see it when I pull up a search)
