Probably worthwhile letting the thread drop off and doing a new one to update this part with your new channels. -
Something that I think would also be good would be the ability to link Supergroups together to pool prestige and buy one base.
You (the supergroup) could only be in one overall group. Leaving the overall group refunds all of your prestige (or perhaps only 75%, however the loss from the "pool" is the 100%). The remaining group loses equipment/size/etc starting with its latest or most expensive purchases until it covers the loss.
Would suit the groups that have "alt" groups to cope with numbers. They can have one base for everyone and the secretive, antisocial loner branch could even choose not to link up and build their own.
However it would also benefit little 2 or 3 person supergroups which could also band together and set up a Heroes Inc. bunch of offices, distinct yet housed together. -
Something that might be of interest to the more committed Bio writers here. Might be useful to check formatting and the like.
Currently in The Training Room, you can see your own info panel.
Start to create a match in the Arena and you can click on a star beside your name and it will display your information.
I know I always wanted to see my own details. -
Just a thought on the facial scaling et al.
Is there an easy way to reset the face to the default models?
I'd be wary of experimenting on the chance I screw up the look of a character and can't get it back to normal. -

We did think of it, but the engineers' eyeballs popped out of their sockets when we suggested it.

And were replaced with laser beams. -
How about we also go the other way with references.
Watched "Sky Captain..." the other day. There was a large sign for Kings Row and the symbol on the robots is nearly identical to the 5th Column insignia (at least in my memory, can't actually check anymore).
Edit: Oh and Franky's Skyraider jetpack. -
Concerning Tim Curry and Pirates, he also did Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island.

What I really hate is HAVING to take certain powers just so I can play. And Stamina is just such a power. When everyone takes a power, it's no longer special. (Yes, I have watched The Incredibles a lot )
Now it and Conserve Power are as close to obligatory as can be. It's the only way I'm going to be able to keep my endurance above 25 when playing just so I keep my toggles at the drop.
How about altering the endurance drop from 25% of "maximum end" to 25% of "current end". That way Rage itself can't flatline you but your toggles will if they suck up enough before your next recovery ping. Frankly I could live with 50% if it was this way.
Anyway Devs just stop trying to balance Rage with roleplaying flavour and just treat it as a build-up. Let the players supply the roleplaying concept for it. I'm not an angsty raging berserker (I'll leave that for a Vampire MMO). -
I sure as heck hope Invincibility is up to keeping the agro for the ten seconds I can't punchvoke or taunt.
Hope the rest of the team can hide well. -
Oh and a new Rule.
Next person who asks the Devs to have a look at ANYTHING in the Tanker archetype. with particular reference to the Invulnerability and SuperStrength lines, gets such a spanking.
If we keep real quiet maybe they'll just forget we're here and we can get back to playing the game. -

SS is already the lack luster power to begin with.
[/ QUOTE ]
Taking a look at various pnp RPGs, it's like SuperStrength was the first developed powerset. Then with each new powerset they get a little better and better, new tricks, shiny additions.
Think of games like Rifts, Vampire and D&D. The first characters are nowhere near as powerfull or flashy as whatever they bring out in the latest expansion.
Frankly I'm tired of the stress and suspense. Come on Statesman, just kick me in the 'nads and be done with it. Stop feinting.
/em wishes he had a ftf gamimg group so he could go play Amber. Do some real roleplay and character development. -
Your proposal sounds like an excellant one. I hope it works as you wish and has the effect you hope.
-
Nicely done Statesman, that's two powers from my primary/secorndary sets that now stand a very good chance of getting me killed if I use them (Unstoppable and Rage for those wondering which I meant).
So if it's possible can I ask you to find 4 more to screw over. That way I can use the empty power choices to take all the power pool ones I need to survive without making tradeoffs.
Can I suggest:
Footstomp becomes single target and minor damge with the current costs;
Dull Pain could just blank out my health bar for 5 minutes so I can't tell if I'm hurt;
KO Blow should also do 2xdamage to myself as I dislocate my shoulder;
and Tough Hide could stop all my Teammates buffs from affecting me because I'm so tough they can't get through.
Just hurry up with the "accidental" database crash which will delete all Tanker characters and also corrupt all backups of same. That way you can just start again and put SuperStrength in the Scrappr AT.
/em sighs and tries to think less negatively.
Okay let's try again. Statesman can I turn your question around. What level of a disadvantage do you consider appropriate for Rage and why? How much would need to be reduced in its effect to allow for a lesser downside?
Oh and as others have said, I really don't have the inclination to test this all over again. Just do whatever you want and let me get on with my Auto-Jab-o'-Death. -
/em applause
Good one Boss.
Means things will get a little more dangerous for me if I get stunned but it'll make for a better game. -

Very nice ideas Bossman. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing how it plays. Despite my desires, don't rush it. Getting it right, is better than getting it quick. I wish the Cryptic Team the best of luck.

Now the ability to rename powers... that would be awesome.

hmmm... I never thought of that. Maybe me rilly am dummm as Hulk.
That might be just what I need. I don't really care what other people see, just want to maintain the fiction for myself.
Thanks Moosejaw. -

I think the recharge time alone will keep it from being overbalanced. I believe Energy has a power equal to this with the same stats.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm hoping you're right Krunch.
[ QUOTE ]
I didn't note the endurance consumption though. I was too giddy hitting things hehe.
One thing I will note is that this power is most effective against Bosses, and the hold doesn't seem to apply to them (at least it didn't effect the Paragon Protector I tried this against ... speaking of which it still did 100+ damage against Moment of Glory .... zoinks!).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah in 15 levels of using KO Blow, the hold has never once stuck on a Boss for me, that's why I consider it just flavour.
Anyway I kept the power and 4 slotted it when I did the Respec on Test, so I'm off to marvel over the beauty that is now K. O. Bloooowwwww .

Gang,
I'm holding off on touching Super Strength until we tackle a somewhat greater issue with Tankers - namely that they lack that "comic book feel." Specifically, you'd like to see Super Strength be something somewhat, well, "Hulk-ish." But currently, Super Strength is a poor cousin to Scrapper powers - which seems somewhat out of place. Don't worry - what we're looking at as a fix for ALL Tankers addresses this issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
/sigh.
Well guys, consider this news the nail in the coffin. Been great talking with many of you, and I wish you all the very best.
5 weeks, lord knows how many posts and suggestions, and he thinks we all want to be the Hulk.... I give up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Easy, brother. I know you have problems with the whole "Hulk" concept (as evidenced by your dislike of the "madder we get, harder we hit" idea), but don't fret.
We all DO want to be the Hulk in the following ways:
-to dish out and take some damage
-a reason to be respected (or feared) in combat
-to be viable as an archetype both grouped and solo (especially post-30)
I mean, honestly, we have a power called "Rage" already. That's pretty Hulk, but I don't see people complaining about the name, but rather the effect.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm somewhat on Warspite's side here. I don't want to be the Hulk either, I just want to be strong (and punch the bejeesus out of things ).
Yes I also wish Rage and the damage inspirations weren't "anger" themed and have said so. But in the end it's all just RP based dislikes on my part. Spiritually, my character is more stoic and determined, than a seething ball of pent up hostility. I'll learn to live with it though, it just niggles me.
Now the ability to rename powers... that would be awesome. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm of the opinion we should leave it alone. It's absolutely perfect as is (as both a power in the game, and an SS power conceptually).
They couldn't have gotten this power more right if Stan Lee was dictating it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry, I'm not going to complain if it keeps the hold ability. As far as I'm concerned it's just extra icing at the moment.
Just if the great god Balance decides it's too powerful now, they could think about losing that part instaed of upping cost. -
[ QUOTE ]
At level 38, the new KB with six damage enhancers can one-shot minions and allows me to down a LT in three blows. With Rage its even nicer. I smacked an even con for 490... I think I went into shock for a little while after that (me, not my tanker).
If its damage + disorient is kept this way, I think the 25 sec timer is quite acceptable.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm of the opinion we could easily drop the "hold" component. Doesn't need a fake knockout part as it can now really knock something out. -
[ QUOTE ]
"Just a guy" is well... just a person who has X ability, who is just doing what they can, who dosent REALLY look at themselves as a hero.
A superhero is Mr. Spandex out there publicising-he definatley sees himself as a hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
I consider your "just a guy" definition more of a superhero then the self-aggrandizing spotlight-seeking celebrity jerk from the second definition.
