  1. Right, maybe I should pay attention to those things at the top of the page. I'm going to chalk this one up to memory/vision and move on. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
  2. So, there's a small store in the town where I go to school that sells graphic novels/trade paperbacks at ridiculous prices (3/$15, including the thicker ones that usually run about $30 a pop). So I've decided to stop by there more regularly and pick stuff up. My problem is, I'm running out of ideas for what to buy. That's where I need your help.

Most of what they have is Marvel, with some of the smaller publishers as well (image, dark horse, dynamite etc.) As for me, I'm a big X-men fan, but I'm willing to try just about anything. I already have Astonishing X-men, Runaways, a few books from some 90s arcs (X-men vs. Apocalypse and Onslaught) as well as some other miscellaneous things that I can't think of right now. Right now I'm looking at buying at least one of the Powers books which I've heard are pretty good, and if I can find them I might also pick up the rest of Grant Morrison's New X-men (I have 2-3 of the books already, but not all of them). That is my situation, I hope you all can give me enough suggestions to keep me busy for a very long time.
  3. HvZ is actually a lot of fun. We played with about 50 people at college last year and we'll be starting another game in a week or two. I don't know which side is more fun though, our zombies had it good because they were extremely organized.

Now, what on Earth is that from? I know I didn't make it up as I have a melody to go with it.
5 bucks says it's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can%27t...y_Eyes_Off_You. I actually heard it years ago as a tribute to Freddie Ljungberg. (can't remember how to hyperlink properly dangit)
  5. Also, this is completely unrelated, but I was going through linkedin profiles for other devs and I noticed that Hero 1 says he's working on at on an unannounced MMO at Paragon Studios. Seems odd since I figured the studio would just work on CoH given the name.

Aand now it says he's looking for work. "Artist/Animator in the Game Industry (Currently Seeking Employment)"

Not in the least, most of the animations for Dual Pistols and Kinetic Melee were done by Nelson if I remember correctly. And the new animations for I19 were done by Colin Brown. My guess is whatever portion of the player base that doesn't visit the forums won't even notice a difference.
  8. Just seems a bit like wishful thinking given some of theOcho's comments. While I would love to see him move on to a project like CoH 2 it seems more likely that they just let him go.
  9. Y'know, we could just be really optimistic about it and say it's CoH 2, but that seems a bit far-fetched. Any thoughts?
  10. I feel like it's how Wolverine got the leader treatment after it worked out that way with the movies. More people know Tony Stark as RDJ so they make the cartoon like his portrayal. It's not bad, I might check it out.
  11. Doesn't sound that bad, not sure if I'd buy a CD from him, but I wouldn't mind listening to it on the radio. One thing I did notice though, is it just me, or does he look like Clay Aiken?
  12. I don't haven't read a huge amount of stuff, but from what I've read I'd recommend:

Astonishing X-men by Joss Whedon- Yes, Warren Ellis is currently continuing the series, but you can end with Whedon's last issue and be perfectly happy with it. Great story and I love John Cassaday's artwork, it was one of the reasons why I picked it up in the first place.

Runaways by Brian K. Vaughn- If you're looking for something shorter just grab the first volume (18 issues) because it's a completely self-contained story. If you want more, you can grab the rest of the issues by Vaughn, but the quality drops off a bit once he leaves.

I'd also recommend Invincible Iron Man with Matt Fraction, but it's currently ongoing and I don't necessarily see an end to it. It's got a great story though and is somewhat self-contained.

    Code Lyoko

I loved the show when it was on and watched it until they finally pulled it off the air. It was the only thing that made me feel better about them replacing afternoon Toonami with Miguzi. The last time I heard about an online game though was the "world with danger project", which I think was fan made and in the early stages when it fell off the face of the earth. I will definitely check this out when it's released though.
  14. It seems to me that a lot of the post-movie stuff (namely NJO and LotF) is a bit crazy and almost schizophrenic where the status quo changes every couple of years. There's an alien invasion from outside the galaxy, then the empire comes back, then the republic comes back etc. So while I haven't read a ton of the EU, I try to stick with stuff close to the movies, because at least then I know the state of things won't be changing wildly, and the situations won't get ridiculous like the previously mentioned Palpatine case. On the other hand though, I do plan on reading Fatal Alliance (the old republic novel) at some point. For whatever reason I don't have a problem with the pre-movie stuff (maybe because I played KotoR).
  15. My list would look something like this:

failblog.org (and occasionally the other portions of the site like ICHC)
    kotaku.com
    notalwaysright.com
mylifeisaverage.com (it updates so fast you could almost be on this constantly)
    boards.cityofheroes.com
    www.facebook.com
  16. It seems like it's just an article saying "there will be stuff here tomorrow." Maybe they should have waited until then to post the link? Also I'm digging Atlas in the background, but he kind of looks like he's in the wrong place, not where he is today.
  17. we love you Lighthouse!

    [ QUOTE ]
As I look ahead for the next year, knowing what I have the privilege to know, I can’t be more excited for the future of City of Heroes and City of Villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But what's this all about? Spill it!

nice thing about pa...the only problem we ever have is flooding...and the occasianal (I know I spelled that wrong) microburst
edit: I should have said western PA
I dont know much abouth the rest of the state

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yay for western PA! (*is going to college at Grove City*) I heard about how it's supposed to rain all the time here, but we've seen very little this year... also no tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis or earthquakes to speak of here
  19. And while I'm thinking about it, make sure you let us know how War Witch and Sexy Jay's movie goes. (and make sure it gets put on the internet for the rest of us!)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Nice little earthquake was just felt rumbling through the studios.

    Yikers...

Sexy Jay reports that was his first!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's why I love this community, the Devs tell us about weird things that happen in the office

And how can this be Jay's first? This is california we're talking about, don't you guys get earthquakes every other day or something?

Quoth Castle: "choose the look of their weapon in the AWESOME COSTUME CREATOR." (Emphasis mine)

Every Cryptic Dev, Designer, Manager, and Executive needs to repeat that line to themselves 20 times when they first come in each morning, before they leave, and during every bathroom or coffee break.

    Then, answer these questions:

What makes the COSTUME CREATOR so AWESOME anyway?

If I work on the COSTUME CREATOR, what can I do to keep it AWESOME or make it MORE AWESOME?

If I work on another system, what can I do to make it as AWESOME as the COSTUME CREATOR?

If I make decisions about the game, how do I make sure that the COSTUME CREATOR stays AWESOME in the long term?

If I make decisions about the game, how do I plan to bring the rest of the game up to the COSTUME CREATOR's level of AWESOME?

If I promote the game, how can I best showcase the AWESOMEness of the COSTUME CREATOR?

If I promote the game, how can I use the COSTUME CREATOR to best accent the AWESOMEness of the rest of the game?

The AWESOME COSTUME CREATOR is your pony. You guys need to feed it, brush it, clean its hooves, and read it bedtime stories EVERY SINGLE DAY.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually agree with this statement, while they should focus on other things as well (game content) the devs need to keep in mind that the biggest thing that makes this game unique to other MMOs is the character customization, and try to play that up a bit come issue release time.
  22. The devs say that they have a system for choosing beta testers, but they don't want to reveal what it is for fear of people trying to work the system.

However, if you beta-tested I9 or I10, then chances are you'll be in the I11 beta.

[edit] oh, and none of the testers are allowed to post anything about the beta because of an NDA
  23. [ QUOTE ]
We have e-mail notification going out to that group of testers shortly, but if you patch up and can connect and log all the way on to the Training Room Test Server, well then you are in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So am I correct in saying that the majority of the testers probably haven't gotten a notification yet?
  24. *woosh* I have know idea what you just said
  25. I don't know if this will help anyone, but I had some spare time on my hands so I did some work.

Anyway, line #1 is the original message, line #2 is the message with the number equivalents (on a phone), lines #3-5 are the other letters associated with the numbers on line #2.

I'm still working on it, but maybe this will help someone, or at least save them some work
