  1. Ok, so taking all of your suggestions I backed off some of the defense that I was over on, I was able to add a slot to jab and haymaker to strengthen them, and added the Impeded swiftness smashing proc. to chilling embrace, and some other changed.

    Chilling Embrace needs about an EndRed in it, and you're good. I've found that slotting it for slows can actually hinder you if you ever do need to herd a bit, as the mobs just run too slowly to get where you need them to go.
    For Chilling Embrace I do agree that they don't like to group up as fast as I'd like so I could steel the slots from there. The main Reason for slotting permafrost was only for the defense to Fire/cold and Aoe set bonus, unless you don't think I really need it? If not then I could put three slots into boxing maybe unless I can find a way to sqeeze some more regen/recovery or recharge somewhere else?


    Here's the build with those slots outta chilling embrace, I may have changed up the order of the powers I had in case I exempt down to lower lvls.

  3. So I had some time to Try rebuilding with a lot of help and suggestions. I decided to go with the Ancillary Pool Soul Mastery for Gloom and Darkness Night hoping these would help with survivability. Wish I had more slots but made do with what I had.

  4. Thanks for all your help guys, and Hyperstrike you really managed to squeeze everything outta that build. From what I'm seeing I only really need to build on defense on not worry about any resistances right? and for Chilling Embrance, for the pacing the turtle enhancements with the Chance of -Recharge, does that work very well? just wondering.

    Well I'm off to take your suggestions and work my build again.
  5. Ok, I re-worked the first build since invisibility was a bust. I'm wondering if I need to up my smashing/lethal defense any since I got some resistance. I'm also trying to figure out if I can up my recovery. I also managed to up my recharge speed and regen.

    Please let me know how I did or I I could improve any

    I've thought about getting rid of Strength of Will but I'm not sure I want to for the times when I get in over my head.


    I should mention I'm only currently lvl 43 but I'm trying to find a fun build for lvl 50

    From looking at that thread people are just as divided on if you need Icicles or not, like I said I haven't played in a long time and they aren't slotted. When I used to play they had a very high end cost and the radius affect was very small, I have no Idea if they fixed that or not or if its the same. (I did notice they changed Rage for when it drops off you can actually still attack, but the damage is barely anything.)

    I seem to have an easy time keeping aggro with the combo CE, EB, and Foot stomp, saving Taunt for if a squishy pulls something. (As long as they let me get aggro first)

    I mainly am having problems about the whole crafting of IO's, I have no idea what sets to use and when I stopped playing the Hami-o's where to only big thing to get back then. Are they just as good? or are the IO's better to get. I can't find on the forums any good posts about them. I do really like slotting the slow part of Ice, I think it helps a lot with any damage I get unless it an alpha strike.

    And is Hand clap worth it for a aoe disorient? or is there better powers I should be getting for slotting.? Is the defense from Combat Jumping worth it? If so I may try building with super jump instead, and the last attack in there is a aoe damage to jump into a mob with.

    Mainly looking for Critiquing or possible if you know any forum posts that are good for IO's
    (also the 2nd two builds were just other peoples, I've just been trying to figure them out and the IO's)

  11. So I haven't played this toon since around when COV came out. and I need to make her a good tank for TF's and big groups again. For Gathering aggro the powers i use the most were EA, CE, and Foot Stomp and then Taunt if I needed it. I hated Icicles and I really would not want to take it if possible. This will be a tanking character so keeping aggro and survivability will be key instead of damage.

  12. That is the mouse i'm currently using, works great, the battery charge will hold for about 12 days, or longer depending on how much it is used. I often have a problem with the right mouse button going out on me since i'm constantly looking around when i play. Hopefully this one will last me over a year Most likely i'll have to replace it for that right button before the battery will ever go bad.

  15. I have a couple story's to tell.

    When the game first came out and everyone was making there favorite marvel characters, I made wolverine and had just turned lvl 6 or 7, anyway i went into perez park for the first time and somehow managed to jump over the wall right into a mob of hellions... (just like wolverine would have done) but sadly the outcome wasn't like in the comics

    And yes even after you play the game for 2 years and know everything you still will make noob mistakes...

    Our sg decided to do the tf in firebase zulu against Ruluuka ? i can't remember his name off hand was long time ago, anyway we contunied the tf the next day since people were tired, and only 4 of us show'd, 3 tanks (Fire/Stone, Invuln./SS, and me Ice/SS) and a blaster.
    Needless to say we took him on w/ that combo, was before DE btw. After many deaths, think in the 10-12 range we finally got a stragegy that worked, since i was an ice tank (at that time ice tanks sucked) and i just taunted from a distance while shooting my epic eye beems, the other 2 tanks who could survive the damage were up close beating on him and the blaster was as far back as possible behind me blasting away, after at least 15 mins. of fighting we brought him down but was still a bad way to take on an AV.

    not necessarily a noob story but was very funny...
    Ok me and my sg mates, think we had 4-5 that night were fighting COT in a cave (setting was the hardest also i believe)
    and like always we were chatting on teamspeak. Well someone just happens to make a joke just as the girl in our sg was eating carrots (keep in mind she was in a car accident a month before and had a broken rib) anyway she starts coughing choking and goes off teamspeak, then a few mintues later her boyfriend comes back and ask's "[censored] happend, your killing her!" After awhile when she's better we all start talking again about it and found out she'd been eating carrots and they shot out her nose and stuff. So someone makes the comment of "Salad Shooter Hoooo!" and we all start laughing... We kept laughing so hard i couldn't breath, the one guy was puking, and the girl who had taped up ribs said the tape came off she was laughing so hard... Regarless we tried to keep playing and who knows how we survived the rest of the missions laughing for the next 30 minutes.
    (One of the most memeorable times on coh)

    And will i'm at it, how come it shows that they get the powers in backwards way, getting unstoppable first and so on, also getting to pick just fly w/ no hover/air sup.

  17. I'm so glad my Ice Tank is lvl 50 so I don't have to worry about debt anymore , now that My defenses are going to be even lower then what they were now that I6 is comming out. I already die numerous times fighting alongside my SG fighting the AV's and in FBZ. I've watched from the floor multiple times as my fellow SG tanks can stand toe to toe again them and even still tank 2 groups effectively. Ice tanks need Tough and weave just to stay alive a little longer. Although i'm still the best at fighting the malta w/ them damn sappers, that is my only +. And fighting the Soldiers of Rularuu, the Big eyeballs give me a - defense making me even more worthless, The only thing that saves me against these guys are having a wisp overlord put me in a detention field (that saves my behind) If I survive the initial aggro.

    So would it be too much to ask if we can have back some of our much needed defenses now that Issue 6 will only let me put in 3 SO's in there, I mean wth? I guess I can now put extra slots in my damage so I can now maximize that even though I have rage and I'm already hitting the max on my attacks, hasten will now be useless w/out it being perma, and stamina being reduced, now I have to wait even longer for Hibernate to come up before I can use it

    Please fix this problem instead of keep making it worse!!!!!

    Don't get me wrong, I love my Ice tank, Since we are few in numbers I feel special but come on. I don't want to shelf my Ice tank.
  18. we do have resistance to slow but unless u slot it it only helps a tiny bit, Thats what hasten is for anyway, so i don't slot it.

So Wet Ice will now only be 1 slotted by everyone, making this power only useful for no knockbacks, mezzed or held, seems kinda lame, also is i have it 6 slotted already and i might even have a hami on it, i can't remember, but you say they still will be on there and giving me defense, even though it will no longer offer defense?

    And did EA ever slow villians at all?

    I'm seriously thinking of putting all my slots into my damage attacks and just making myself a scrapper, even though i'll still be lower then a scrapper!

  21. Ok, first prob. w/ EA was that it encurages herding in order to get the best defense possible, which is now no longer going to be possible, because we'll be dead before getting that many together.
    Also if, like my SG you play hardest setting getting lvl 54 infernal av's. um yeah, i can barely hold em now, if not for a second tank the team gets wiped from existence.

    Wet Ice is now only good for not getting knockbacked, held, and so on.

    I personally think the Ice armors should be left alone as in issue 4. Cause you are heading in the wrong dirrection for these changes, Ice tanks are now being force to go for tough and weave just to pick up the defense and little resistance.
    I may just fully cap out the damage on my char. instead since my defense won't matter anmore

    I'm also running around now getting all the badges i can before issue5 comes cause i don't think i'll be able to do much once its out, and I REALLY LIKE PLAYING MY ICE TANK!

    Cireus, what are the numbers we are getting now (issue 4) compared to the new numbers?

    (Close my eyes cause i don't want to really know)
  22. I kinda like being one of the lone ice tanks out there, I feel kinda special that I was able to make it to lvl 50 w/ her, and also like people saying, "I don't see many of your kind around."

    List of my Powers:

    Tough - 6 sloted (1 endreduction, 5 DamageResist)

    *is 7 toggles really nessessary? keep in mind my SG usually fights on the hardest setting, even again AV's, so fighting lvl 53-54's is a common thing and other tanks are kicking my butt.

    Also have hasten, rage, and conserve engergy full slotted w/ recharge rates, which means i can get EA and rage to double up, and w/ conserve energy i can wack away untill it falls off, once it does I really can't attack much cause my end falls drastically. Also when rage drops I can't taunt for awhile or attack which is ok cause i have just enough taunt to keep them on me untill i can taunt again. Rage does increase Icicles too in issue 4, so if i would'a slotted it heavy damage i could be doing more then burn ever could, but i wanted footstomp to have the damage. haven't try'd on test server yet so not sure if everything will be the same. Having double rage makes it easy for footstomp to hit the cap and also KO blow and makes my little attacks much better. So once again I always joke about being a scrapper instead of a tanker.
    Can u tell i'm trying everything to raise my Def through the roof
    This still makes me less then good when dealling w/ av's and some boss's

    Like i said before range attacks aren't really a problem, except hami and mito's, they like me , its the close combat attacks that get though the most.

    And Does anyone know if we will be getting a free respect for issue 5? (cause i have already used all mine )

    I'd also like to see how other ice tanks are slotted for defense, maybe i have way to much i'm not sure.
  23. i still don't agree w/ hibernate being a good power, why not just make horrorfrost a heal and have it recharge faster. it was give us an easier save while still in the fight. also hibernate wastes end like crazy so if ya got no end when u need to heal u are screwed!

    Also someone commented on an ice ammor that can be chipped away untill we are left open, can't hibernate be made into something like that, so we can survise the av's 1 hit ko's and still be able to do our jobs? Is this just wishfull thinking or does it sound like something good?

    Also is previous post, i said ice tanks don't take fly, I did have it for awhile and it got me in way to much trouple from hami so thats why i don't have it anymore

    Although it does add defense or at least hover does, hmmm?
  25. ok, first off, before i had EA on my ice tank and after i got it and worked it up its like the saveing grace for defense on ice tanks. I almost compared it to Invicibility since it acted almost like it except it wasn't a toggle and for defense, take away defense and I'm even more useless. Just call me a scrapper instead. Unless they plan to give defense back in other powers.
    Also on a side note, I was watching discovery channel about for airports having to de-ice planes during bad weather and also boats, Ice getts very heavy and in flight it can cause a plane to go down or a boat to sink if not kept de-iced. I know people don't want to hear it but maybe ice tanks shouldn't be able to fly, like rock tanks in granite armor. (Like anyone has fly for ice tanks but just thinking loggically).

    Also please make hibernate into some kind of armor like granate, or Unstobbable. I'm not a polar bear, i don't hibernate!

    Also Please give us a response Statesman! , anything, just as long as we know your listening!
