  1. Folks, is this the best damn online game in the universe, or what?

And THIS is what makes it so. Sweating the details and listening to your customers.

    Thanks Jack.

Have you concidered changing tactics? I'm a Storm/Elec Def, and I've found that if I stand and trade punches, I'm fairly quickly put down, but if I fire, break LOS, rinse and repeat, I can put the boss down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny, breaking LOS doesn't keep the badguy from hitting me back on HIS alpha volley in response to my snipe.

Click snipe, jump behind that wall. Take 1000 in response damage. Admitedly, if I get lucky enough to get a knockdown, it'll work. I'll be running and kiting. Which is no big deal, but certainly not guaranteed I'll even have a chance to do it.

A bit off-topic, I think the changes in general were made to intentionally slow down progress a bit, and give all players more time to, well, play. Do we all recall how, for the last 2 months or so, all the level 50's were bored and had nothing to do?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm level 38. I'm taking my time and taking the scenic route. Even IF (big "IF" now) I make 50, I personally have a LOT of post 50 stuff to do. Like the Controller the scrapper and the new Keldian.

So I'm not going to be bored and complaining, and yet I'm being beset because there are those that have? Advancement was fine for the rest of us. Variety was there for the people who liked the game.

See, the facts are, the pre-issue 3 bosses were FINE. If they weren't well, heck that's what the SLIDER is for.

(three if you include the first Envoy mission, but he's not must-defeat in that one).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh. It depends on where he's standing. I found him in front of the first portal the first time I got him.

Re-rolled and found him in front of the only entrance to the final cave.

Re-rolled and found him on the bridge that leads... well you get the idea.

Finally called a couple SG mates and we just spent the rest of the evening kicking his butt.

See? Now THAT I don't mind. I got an AV and after realizing that I couldn't solo the mission because of it, I called in the SG. I called in the SG on Terra, too. I don't MIND those. I expect those.

All I want is for the bosses to be the way they were 2 weeks ago, and the guys who don't think that's enough of a challenge to be able to up the slider on them to +2/+3. Sorry, but I get one blaster snipe in on a non-named boss standing next to a glowie and I'm chewing concrete.

    PERIOD.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
So, I guess we'll /bug at least 50% of all missions?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'd say go for it.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Its troubling that these changes seem to ensure that scrappers are going to get the shaft. I feel like I've got a giant nerf target painted on my hero. And its not like I'm having an easy time with bosses myself, although I can imagine its worse with other archetypes...

    [/ QUOTE ]

And THIS my friend is why the scrappers should be VERY leary of any chest thumping over this change, you put your finger right on it. Because if the other AT's are running as they should for the new boss set-up, it stands to reason that if the scrappers are sliding through (not a breeze, but you get the drift) then they'll eventually get smacked back down to compensate.

Because if *not every mission should be soloable* and scrappers are still soloing them all, the devs WILL sit up and take notice.
  6. Actually, my biggest problem with the whole thing is that wayyyy back in September or so, States said (and I quote): "I don't want forced grouping."

Well, if we got one of these missions, and we want to complete it in order to get through to the next part of the story arc, and there's no freakin way we can solo it, then what am I being told I need to do?

Yep, that's right. I'm forced to group. Or forget about the storyarc altogether. Considering how some of those storyarcs are tied to badges and accolades, Ummm.... no.
  7. Oh come on, the answer is obvious, and I've seen it bandied about around here enough. Roll it back to where it was as a base and let the SLIDER juice it up. Or is that too simple?

I *do* have a small bone to pick if I can't solo a mission anymore, because the vast majority of this game was intended to be soloable. It's been my understanding that that's ALWAYS been a part of the CoH ideal. And I don't mean ALL of the bosses all of the time. I don't mind the occasssional "Oooops! I think I'll wait for a level or grab a couple friends to clear this one" kind of missions. Heck, I STILL have nightmares of the first Red Boss Bone Daddy I ever ran into. But those are cool.

Does this mean that I can expect that same treatment EVERY mission, post I3?

If so, then that just plain s*cks.
  8. OK, I admit it, I've been playing some WoW.

I know some of you have, too.

Thing is, the Mouse look on WoW is exactly the opposite of the mouse look on CoH. Anyone else find that annoying? It takes me several minutes to switch gears from one to the other. What I'm talking about is, when you hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse, it cahnges the view. In CoH, if you hold down the right button and push the mouse forward, it rotates teh cammera DOWN. In WoW, it rotates the camera UP. And vica versa.

So the obvious questiuon is: Can teh mouse look in CoH (rbutton) be reversed so that pushing it forward looks UP, and pulling it back looks DOWN?

Before anyone flames, YES, I'm asking the same questions at WoW about changing the mouse look there.

A little help, O gurus of the bind?

    More answers....

    In regards to the trenchcoats:

May I assume there will be a fairly diverse group to choose from? Like a Western style duster, or a shorter version, say a waistcoat?

Joined an eight man ToT team. Camped a door for about two hours. Got five badges. Had the most fun I've had in CoH in MONTHS!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And *THAT'S* the bottom line!
  11. I think, that for a month or so, they should pop the spawn for the Kraken, Adamaster, etc WAY up, even further than what they have ALREADY. Just a temporary. Heck make it spawn several times an hour.

Just for a limited time while the badge-hunters (myself included) get it out of thier systems. Then you can drop the spawn back to "rare" and this kind of poaching will be itself a rarity. I know that when I decide I'm going after the Kraken, and I'm camoping it, first thing I'm going to do is do a Broadcast in the area asking who wants in on the kill. That way at least 7 others get the kill credit, too.

Yeah, I know it's lame to poach a poor little monster like that, but come on the "scavenger hunt" for the badges is kind of fun! I really don't want to hurt someone else's game, honest. It's just that that's the way the thing is set up.

It's highly lame, unrealistic, and most importantly, immersion-busting to see some Outcasts AND some aliens beat down on you at the same time. (Not that it hurt, I was a well-slotted 23 tank in Steel Canyon, taking their pathetic level 16 hits indefinitely.)
    Pathetic!

    [/ QUOTE ]

For that matter, how about cops standing around doing nothing while you're fighting criminals, or civilians walking up to you to thank you while you're in the midst of a vicious firefight with bugeyed monsters? Or cars that don't do any damage when they hit you? I don't think any of this is pathetic, but there is some room for some "realism tweaking" in COH...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but I can see how this COULD be done. Just give them some EYE drones, and give those the code for the Police Drones and have them follow around.

It'd still do nothing for the wandering civilians, but you could always make them RUNLIKEHELL when the Rularuu came around.

Is theis event a badge-award event, and if so, how much do I need to do with each of my toons to earn a badge?

I am checking the energy readings... I've got interdimensional energy spikes all across the board, and although it looks like it is levelling off, I don't see them falling anytime soon. If anything they are growing in magnitude.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sweet. That means I can relax knowing that it'll all still be there in 4 or 5 hours.

    Thanks, man.
