Quote:It's not so much for the farms but for the legitimate story arcs. For example, you normally need a perfect five star rating in order to be eligible for Hall of Fame. But all it'd take is one one-star review to cause your score to plummet. You'd need several five-stars just to recover from that, making score griefing incredibly easy. Even if your goal wasn't to be Hall of Fame but just to have your arc noticed, any griefer can come along, one-star you, and force your arc to the bottom of the list.I'm not sure it would have helped much, since farms tended to get high ratings already, but it was a step i nthe right direction.
Nice to know they were actually considering it, though. I would've loved to see that happen. -
Only problem with AE's search function is the massive amount of farms out there, hogging all the space. I can find all sorts of arcs pretty easily with the advanced search features, it's just a pain to wade through farms is all.
That and the rating system needed a revamp. There's a reason Youtube abandoned the five-star rating system a long time ago. I really wish someone would've come along and replaced it with a "Like or Dislike" system instead. -
I miss the Statesman and Recluse one, tbh

Vote'd.
Don't bother engaging folks on the comments. It can easily spiral into making us look like the crying children they want us to be. -
Why can't you just use one of Leandro's massive pics he's posted?

Quote:And that's exactly the attitude they're looking to change.
It's not ok to do it in GW2, and if you get caught, they actually enforce their user agreement.
Personally, I think it's fantastic.
Plus, it's not an either/or situation. They're banning/suspending people for it AND fixing the exploits. It's win/win.
BTW, most of the people who were permabanned for the karma exploit? Bought another copy of the game. And many of them posted saying "wow, I had no idea you guys would enforce the rules, but good on you, my bad." -
I cheated NCSoft into giving me City of Heroes for free.
In 2005 I purchased City of Villains and maintained a subscription for it. I didn't own City of Heroes, however, which was a standalone title you had to purchase at the time. So I only had access to redside, and in order to ever make a hero I needed to shell out 30 or so dollars.
A few months go by and it's early 2006. I decided to download the free trial for CoH, just to see what blueside was like. I roll up a hero, fiddle around, and expect it to only be a temporary experience. 14 days come and go, though, and the free trial never ran out. I still had access to my existing heroes and could even make new ones. It stayed this way for the full year and a half before Cryptic left and the two games merged. I'm assuming NCSoft couldn't tell CoH was only a trial since I had a subscription to and owned CoV.
So I glitched NCSoft out of one of their games. -

Quote:This I can give an answer to. In an old school Issue 0 arc you save a skilled surgeon from the Rikti. From all the fighting and being stranded on Earth, the Rikti suffered some serious injuries. Apparently, they could actually kidnap humans and harvest their organs to save their own comrades from dying. Since the humans and Rikti can swap organs successfully, they can't be too much different from us in that department.1. What is Rikti physiology/biology like, how different is it from humans? As the Rikti are mutated humans, they assumedly have a fair number of similarities, but how much is similar?
I also heard from another player awhile back that the Rikti survive on a mostly algae and plant-based diet, and that they consume food very similarly to an algae-eater. Mind you, I heard this from a player and I can't provide any actual proof supporting it at the moment, but if anyone else out there knows this is a fact and can provide evidence (or debunk this as just a rumor), I'd appreciate that. -
Reminds me of when people get ahold of a good name just for the sake of owning good names.

Quote:So is your question actually "What plans were Crey using that unknown pollutant for, and why?" Because what you asked was "What caused all the pollution in Crey's Folly?" which are two totally different questions.Crey Cares
Crey Industries has taken over this island in the Water Processing district with the intention of using its extensive collection and filtration infrastructure to spearhead a plan that would clear from the air and water the strange toxic element that emerged after the Rikti invasion. But those who know the truth, and are not intimidated into silence, know that Crey is actually collecting and concentrating this element for unknown purposes. -
Quote:Unless you're looking for the name of the chemical itself, there's not much more they can say about what caused the pollution. Crey facility is destroyed, its contents destroy the environment. That's all.I already know that. I was hoping for something more specific.
Quote:I don't see many people who aren't Freakshow walking around in Paragon with giant hammer and sickle arms, and the Freaks don't exactly seem to be type to be able perform extensive surgery, so I imagine there has to be more to it than that.
The surgery comes from either folks in their number that don't have giant weapon hands or former Vhazilok doctors like Doc Buzzsaw. There really isn't more to it than that. -
Quote:Nove Praetoria, Imperial City, and Neutropolis would not be destroyed. You could still go there, and still roll up a Praetorian as the events of those arcs precedes Praetoria's destruction.2. Was Destroyed Praetoria going to be the new zone for all Praetorian characters, with an Echo: Praetoria option slotted in somewhere? Or would Destroyed Praetoria have trumped previous zone versions?
Quote:3. Why, when leaving Praetoria, did the entire zone seem to forget the character's existence? It always seemed like travel to Primal Earth forced a memory reset on the Praetorians left behind. Was this meant to be canon, or was it just a coding issue that became adopted shorthand for the process?
Quote:4. Were there plans to 'rebuild' Brickstown and Faultline? (Not update, but actually have the cranes, ironworkers, foreman and the like actually slowly rebuild structures, with the old broken structures being removed from the zones?) -
Quote:Old rough draft versions of the enemy groups we have today. That's all.Who were those villain groups we saw named in that old pre-launch E3 trailer, and why didn't they make the final cut?
Quote:Were the Surviving Eight really the only heroes in all of Paragon to survive the Rikti War?
Quote:Why was the Dr. Science (Steven Sheridan) in Going Rogue so young?
Quote:Why did the cars in CoX have weird headlights, and where were all the gas stations?
Quote:Why were there three neon signs on one road near the train in King's Row, but none in the rest of the game (before CoV)?
Quote:What caused all the pollution in Crey's Folly?
Quote:Who provides the cybernetics the Freakshow uses?
Hope that helps a bit. -
Quote:This was already revealed by Manticore when he did his lore thread.6.) Can we get the truth on the removal and return of the 5th Column?
It was basically because City of Villains was originally going to let us be among the existing villain groups, like the Freakshow or Carnival of Shadows. The devs thought it would be a bad idea to let players be Nazis, though, so they designed they replaced the 5th Column with the Council, who were simply sinister fascists. But then that idea for CoV was scrapped, and it was too late to pull the plug on the replacement as it already happened. So they just worked it all into lore and had the Column simply biding their time, waiting for a good opportunity to return.
And that was because Castle was testing something involving giant enemies and their hitboxes. He super enlarged a generic Mech Man to use and it ended up leaking into the actual Beta, where players played with it in Mission Architect arcs until it was removed. -
Tossed my Q up there. I'm sure there are loads of people asking the same question over and over again (what was the Battalion supposed to be? What were the other Incarnate slots gonna be? etc. etc.), so if I see any repeats I'll try and delete them and keep the list clean/organized.
-
Pretty sure they did that on purpose, with the intent to retcon him out since he made no sense to begin with. I think you can find his ax in the forest mission for the I24 Incarnate story arc, too. Which, as far as easter eggs go, implies he isn't going to be featured or fleshed out (especially with the story line almost completely wrapped up), but is a nod to his former existence.

Quote:That was Maelstrom and his government cell of black-ops agents.According to the comic book, the Praetorians didn't have portal technology, nor the coordinates to Primal Earth, until they got it from us. I asked about this on a livestream, was told that someone from Primal Earth with portal technology attacked Praetorian Earth before they attacked us, but that you couldn't reveal who it was at that time - so who was it? Malta? Rikti Restructurists? The Circle of Thorns? Arachnos?

Quote:Yeah, this made no sense to me, either. And there's even lore that alludes to the fact that wherever Hero Corp goes crime seems to follow. That hints at the fact they hire out villains to commit crimes and give their heroes a reason to be there. Perfect for Rogues. While Wyrvern are a Vigilante organization. 'Nuff said there. This just seemed like a writer wanted to tell their story without actually researching the groups in hand. But whateves.Speaking of Hero Corp, I was a little surprised that I-24 had them cast as "vigilante". It seems to me that the storylines in I-24 ought to have been reversed, with Hero Corp being the "rogue" storyline and Wyvern being the "vigilante" wet works storyline. Were there any special considerations that caused you to cast them in the roles they were assigned?
My own question is why was Crey so underutilized?
They're supposed to be this seemingly normal corporation responsible for all sorts of genetic, technological, and medical discoveries. They hold so many patents on various types of medicine and are among the 3 largest corporations in the entire world. They hire out their security forces to other companies and use their Paragon Protectors to help defend businesses and key locations throughout the city. So why didn't we actually see any of that?
Why were Crey instead always shown to be just as obviously evil as Arachnos or the Freakshow on the streets of Brickstown? Why did we never see them actually protecting the city with their security forces? Why didn't they have a fancy HQ within the city like the Police Station in Kings Row, Portal Corp in Peregrine, or the Freedom Corps building in Galaxy? Why did we only ever get maybe three arcs in Issue 0 and one Grandville arc dealing with them, only for them to be completely forgotten about? -
Can't say. I got locked out of Beta when my account lapsed. But I do know that part 5 had to be unlocked by a dev or mod. So I don't think anyone who doesn't already have it unlocked can play through it :\

Quote:This has already been answered a few times by players. Both final chapters to the second SSA are up on beta. I actually answered it on the first page of this thread, if you're interested in checking that out.How did the rest of SSA2, Pandora's Box, play out? Does Back Alley Brawler end up getting Statesman's powers like I guessed?
Quote:Why did the Shivans of Bloody Bay end up at odds with the Shivans from Galaxy City?
Run that trial, talk to the Shivan, and you'll learn lots of interesting bits about the Shivans and Battalion. -
Quote:I'm guessing the people who were making fun of others for this "crazy idea" are either going to remain silent. FYI, for those who don't know, here are the numbers.
CoH $10 million net profits per year.
Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul, producing a $6m loss in the second quarter of this year.
So, we know who's to blame for a profitable game getting the axe. They're losing money on other games, and rather than WAIT to make it up, they'll axe CoH, save a little money, and in the process, LOSE a huge chunk of their US player base forever. Fine. Mark my words. NCSfot will change their minds, or sell CoH to someone else, or go under completely in the next 5 years. All 5 of which will be spent trying to somehow recapture those players they callously tossed aside, while still dealing with other games (Aion anyone?)hemorrhaging funds. In the end, they'll spead alot of time on "Wish we didn't, while looking for new jobs. -
Quote:Yeah, I was actually the one to really make that push for a stronger, better written Crey presence. I was really pumped to see it go live, too :\Talking of Crey, in the currently suspended I24, the Brickstown mob revamp set a lot of the Crey mobs to neutral, including one where a Paragon Protector was being shown off to a crown of citizens - and the old mugging spawns had been replaced with Crey agents standing beside a dead body with vague dialog about how the person died, or if they'd been involved or not - there really was a big push to turn Crey into not just another group menacing the streets.
-
God, I wish half the things in the Crey article were actually well represented in game. So much good stuff there that could've been going on. Instead we just got a couple mid level arcs dealing with the Revenant Heroes and the Doctor :\
