  1. Beautiful! Wonderfully rendered Henri. I had not even noticed the background without looking for it. The armour structure really stands out, great pose and colours too.
  2. Also not inclined to write 18 captions for points, but...

#3: "The Zig is soooo depressing. Some days I feel, I dunno... cell shaded, y'know?"

Wow VexXxa, the underwater shot looks awesome! I love the texture of it, and the glee on her face.

This seems a likely future. There's a mission among the Tip Missions that runs through a Cimerora cave, and has a pool at the far end. There is a bridge over the pool. And if you pass under the bridge, you actually swim underwater. Perhaps a prototype of something?

Why oh why I didn't take a picture, I don't know. But it's a tiny pool, it wouldn't rival this pic.

Thanks PowerStream. I wondered if shoe junkies frequented this forum, but I knew my attached warnings would be no obstacle to such people. Hopefully I don't now run into your wife, but here are two arguments for getting $400 boots from Australia:
But with the exchange rate today, they're only $401!
Australian boots keep Australians from falling off the bottom of the planet. If you have a pair, you'll be all set should you find yourself in one of those situations in "Inception"!
    Thanks Caemgen!

Thanks FD! I have characters that started their existence in CoH but these two started out in my attempts at writing. Knitwit-in-CoH first went through a phase of being a Thorn/Mind dominator. But that seemed misogynistic so I remade her as a vindictive woman with scissors. The need for heroic violence is perhaps another limitation of City of Heroes. Incidentally, Lastscionz at dA (Chamba) is playing with a concept he calls "Killernary" that might just resemble your claws stalker, in a very non-CoH way.

Thanks VexXxa and Sapphic Nekko, and thanks again Suichiro! Airhead is indeed a natural diplomat.

Next up is my first picture of Knitwit, Airhead's polar opposite and sidekick. Together, they're bipolar. But far more important than my backstory is the artist! Domo Stanton is the artist for a couple of Marvel titles, Deadpool Family and Ressurection. Despite this he has time for commissions, and a natural style that I thought would work well with Knitwit's many layers of cloth. It did:

She's a scrapper, with claws in one hand that look like her late father's tailoring shears. In this picture Domo used knitting needles, a far more original look. Her outfit has had buttons and stuff added to it, with the belt becoming part of her jacket, which had the opposite effect of more closely resembling the CoH model.
  7. Hugs Sensei,

That is horrible news. Spend as much time with family as you can.

I will be thinking of you while you are gone, and will be here too if you return.

    Air.

I have no preferences for either of you guys, you're both dang awesome. But once the talk turns to legalese, I am inclined to poke fun.

A copy of a post is not the definition of "context". I don't think you believe that either, you're taunting - in which case there's a subtext (ooh see what I did there) that I'm not entirely aware of If you posted the whole thread, and perhaps the March voting thread too, you might have the defined context. Aside from the vast history I bet you guys have!

    Muahaha.

That's why I deleted my comment half an hour before your reply. 'That' referred to the concept of your having just a moment of un-modesty (avoiding the word 'immodesty') and not 'it', the subject, of modesty... and then I realised I was much funnier if I didn't say anything.

Instead I should be saying thanks for spotting my missed February points CR! After two submissions I see the more time I spend on a piece, the less points I get. So I'm aiming for zero in March, despite submitting!
  11. I agree, the concept of a "challenging puzzle" is tough to measure, and I trust Bubbawheat to come up with a way to measure that. 25% is good conceptually; in practice perhaps it could mean the puzzles that get figured out last (but do get figured out) once the pictures are posted.

Thinking a bit more - perhaps voters could simply be encouraged to think about the puzzle-ness of a puzzle picture when casting their votes. Perhaps even focus less on 'hot chicks' that seems to dominate scoring on these things. I'm looking at Lousy Day's skimpy loincloth. If I'd only been pandering to my audience...
  12. Home Guard is looking great, Tacobanon has great style and love the flourishes in the foreground.

Harmonic Convergence is pretty awesome too, now I need to go check out that artist.
  13. I'm voting really late, since this place gives so much grief for being early.

Also, I am voting, since I see my art as a contribution, not a competition. I see art differently, as a creative endeavour, rather than a destructive one. Yeah, I'm being deliberately Gervaisian

3pt: Henri - great perspective, intriguing ice prisons once more.
2pt: This would have been Bubbawheat for his synthetic cubism study exuding a cold calm that puts one in the mind of the bad guys. But since he's indicated those votes won't stick this month, I give them to Lousy Day for a fun if somewhat sad little scene.
1pt: Techbot Alpha - for the cheerful armoured meat packer chilling his kill.

Art from Jet has arrived, and he maintains his perfect record for Airhead covers!

Airhead has teamed up with Massacre Melanie to take on the Well of the Furious in search of shards. If none of that makes sense then it was Airhead's idea.

Thanks Suichiro for letting this happen and helping with the captions!
  15. Awesome! He looks like he is printed on a basketball.

Love this dragon though, and texture might be just the ticket for him.

I finally got home from work, at 2:30am. I have to catch a flight at 7:30am. To sleep or not to sleep? Unfortunately I won't get to clean up my drawing.

It would be lovely to have my rough attributed to @Aehaed, fairgo.deviantart.com . Thanks!

Your suite of sweets reminded me of inspirations from the game.
Feel free to clean this up, put in proper text. I drew and scanned this in the office with no image editing tools so it is a bit grim. It is based on a CoH screen shot.

An update on Airhead - he's still here!

I have a few pieces of art on the way. There's two from Forumites that are taking quite a while, but I haven't paid for them yet either, so I'm not concerned. In these cases, time means quality!

I have a team-up commission to come from Gamblear and Solid Citizen on deviantart, paid up since July. I haven't seen the lines yet but I'm told it is being coloured. The artists have a fun style, so the result should be worth the wait, if it comes.

I have a team-up commission coming from Jet Amago, requested quite recently but Jet decided it was taking a bit longer than he expected. So he sent me a quick Airhead to tide me over - service way beyond the call. thanks Jet! It is a fun little Airhead too (below), adding to a collection Jet is making of figures in this style.

I am also quite jealous of VexXxa's saloon duo art. Airhead's usual costume doesn't have enough detail to do justice to that kind of work. So I'm working on a more reinforced/retro/steamgunk outfit, but will probably need an upcoming costume pack to perfect it.

Airhead's sidekick is also coming together, the thumbnail is looking good for her preliminary reference picture. This should be followed by a model sheet, and more. Knitwit Team-ups!
  20. I found ImagesbyAlex in the pile too, and put in a vote. Using my pseudonym. Like 'airhead' needs a pseudonym.

But it does add up to "who knows more people on Facebook", rather than anything to do with the art or hero concepts presented. I think you've hit the nail on the head, to treat the whole process as an education in such processes.

I did enjoy paging through a mountain of heroes. So much like a jar of M&Ms. Perhaps they could be categorized though, not just "most votes". More like a dating website. I had no luck "ISO curly haired heroine".

Unfortunately Chinese New Year break came early this month. I know, they mock us. I won't have time to do anything further on my piece so feel free to finish it. Maybe it could use some micro-textures on the people, shadows on the ice, or colour in the line art. Note though the white parts have been intentionally left white. You can use it as a jotter pad.
  22. Pumpkibi so cute!

It does look like it would be fun to colour.
  23. Interesting options. Hopefully some additional ways to customize the heads will be added, ear muffs, masks and stuff. That could be simultaneously added to the Alien head, reptile head, other universally available heads with limited customization. But first, I'd like a beak for a bird that isn't a bird of prey.

  24. Great news, congratulations VexXxa!

It couldn't happen to a more deserving CoH enthusiast. And thanks to Bayani for setting it all up and running it until now, it's been a pleasure to +watch.

    This thread needs gift art...
  25. Gorgeous textures and lighting on Eve Summers! She really wears her type-A personality on her [kind of a sleeve].

    That's gorgeous-stunning, not gorgeous-crocodile.
