Now some of you may have surmised, this month things are going to change just a little. Instead of doing character art I'd like you all to reimagine/reinvent/create a-new zone in the City of... universe. This will be quite a change of pace for many of you so I hope you enjoy it.

Oh my! I do hope you don't mean a complete zone *giggles*. Can it be part of a possible new zone?
And are characters aloud to be 'in' the art, as..bystanders so to say?

This should be quite the challange!

It's all for fun. If you want to do a whole zone then by all means. I guess my original idea was to take a "screenshot" that best represented what you would want for a new zone. But like I said it's all for fun so you can do as much or as little as you like. And interpret the above however you like.

Some idea's:

Snow, put some snow on atlas, or mercy island. But since i spent the whole day (no joke started at 8:15am finished at 2:30) shoveling, if you snow a zone you will be responsible for shoveling it!

Make it rain, show me a gloomy day in the hive, or in PI. (the shift key, it hurts to stretch my pinky to nab it)

Polish, Take KR or galaxy and give it the GR treatment. Give them a level of polish that you see in praetoria? Does it mean glass facades and gold? not necessarily, that's up to you.

Add an event, depict an event in art or in prose that takes the zone to a new level. Think of the jack and eo or mothership raid. Something that will bring people back time and time again.

shovelling is inaccurate, it was chopping, ice, lots and lots of ice. They should nerf all powers cause ice is clearly the most powerful thing in existence. I hurt so much <sobs, then sleeps>

You know what henri, take you time, if you can't come back till june to post a february art jam then that's ok with me. Though, it'll be dark cause someone else will have my flashlight. Or it might not cause you know the sun will be up for more than a few hours everyday.

Idea of the day; china town, or tsoo town, I dunno, whatever. Take whatever you want from it. You know how things run when I'm in charge.

But... but... I hate doing backgrounds. ;p

It's the ATA building edition. It's been more or less lost in the depths, as was this thread.

Some other idea's we've got all the bus stops we could want, show me the busses, or the bus station. Or what's happened to them...

I have not forgotten this Jam session! And thus I share my underwater world that I WISH they would create for us so that we may swim down into the depths of the deep rather than float/swim around at the top.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to put a lot of details into this one, so I may do another one with more detail and colorized at a later date!

I had an idea for this months jam, but couldn't make it work , and now the February Jam has passed.

No i still got the flashlight. I think i'll keep this thread open for march as well. unless, you know, someones got a better idea. I think there's at least one other person out there looking to do something with the idea.

Couple more idea's.

Where do the cars get fuel? where are the gas stations why don't freaks try to blow one up every once in awhile? Are there no schools? What's missing from paragon that ought to be easy to find what does that look like?

Lets open this up to a little photography, run around your city (watch for cars!) and take pictures and compare them to places in paragon. I think I've got a couple pictures that will work for this. I just need to get matching screenshots.

PS. this is totally not a grab for power (absolute power!) no one else wanted it so...I keeps it. (my precious)

PPS. Excellent Vexxxa, I don't think I ever thought of the underwater zone thing. Having played a bit of that in the rift beta, it makes me want it more!

Wow VexXxa, the underwater shot looks awesome! I love the texture of it, and the glee on her face.

This seems a likely future. There's a mission among the Tip Missions that runs through a Cimerora cave, and has a pool at the far end. There is a bridge over the pool. And if you pass under the bridge, you actually swim underwater. Perhaps a prototype of something?

Why oh why I didn't take a picture, I don't know. But it's a tiny pool, it wouldn't rival this pic.

The bridge/pool you can swim under is actually a normal Cimeroran map (not exclusive to the tip missions) and has been around since that zone was introduced (issue 12).

I had the same though back then that it could be a hint but then they've been dropping hints for a moon zone even further back so who knows?

the general consensus that i heard was that the cimm. underwater tidbit was a trial of concept. BaB's was always of the opion that, while cool, would be a large undertaking because new animation would be required for all powers...i think the fly animation would be sufficient for power activation and use the treadwater/swim animations for everything else with a fly like manuvering. Environmental powers are possible when you're in the hami goo you get a boost to your jump. I think the tech is there, the devs seem to be less sure to "do it right"

The moon zone. I think this is purely forum speculation, while devs have commented on the moon zone threads I don't think there has ever been a confirmation teasing or otherwise that this was in the works. I think hints at the changes to RWZ and even as far back as warburg may have been misconstrued to be hints at a moon zone.

So if you'd really like to make these things real give us some compelling concept art

I mean hints in the game being dropped for a moon zone.

City of Heroes, with nightlife. This is me with the camera over my head taking a picture down a street in downtown Seoul. Paragon is probably the darkest city on the east coast. There's barely any nightlife at all. True many parts of the city are a warzone but its been that way so long, the citizens have to get a little used to it, and need some sort of relief from the consant turmoil.

I know I broke the rules I didn't come up with a similar street in paragon, I'm sure you can figure it out.

At least you came up with sómething!

It would be awesome to have night and day.
But tricky aswell as people from allover the world play CoH and have diferent nights and days...

hehehe I was actually trying to emphasize the disparity in the lack of liveliness in our cities. How many buildings do you see that have no signage on them, no advertisements, no billboards, no street numbers, floor numbers or visible purpose? Yet in City of heroes one in two buildings lack any defining features.

Certainly many of them are council bases and carnie hideouts, but what's with the villains in the city not even bothering to keep up a front to spoof PPD.

Also, if anyone wants the flashlight gimme a hollar and it shall be yours. I have got a decent idea for next month different from this month and month before. Lets hope I can remember it for the next 2 days.
