So... any SG/VG badges/accolades being tied to the Day Job system?
Edit: Just a note on collecting in general.
The 'I should have all my shinies in 30 days or less' defeats the whole concept of collecting as a hobby. Ask any serious collector of comics, stamps, coins, toys, etc about collecting and they would most likely tell you that it takes time, effort and a little luck. They would probably tell you that it's a long term passion for them and would caution that you're not guaranteed to get everything you're after. -

Double XP for 'being on patrol'.....
I'm probably the only one who doesn't care for double XP. I'm glad that with Ouroborus we can work on the missions that the characters may end up missing out of when Double XP events happen.
But this will make things more chronic for those who want revisit characters they haven't played in a while.
If there are future Double XP weekends, does that mean those who are 'On Patrol' will earn quadruple the amount of XP?
I like being able to max out the bar for contacts, but with all of this extra XP I'd be lucky to be able to get to be able to call in for missions in CoH before having to move on to the next contact.
But I'm just going to be in the minority (probably the only one), so don't mind me
Other than that, Day Jobs is shaping up to be looking good.
I esp. love the costume pieces that are currently showing up in the costume creator. Many kudos to Jay and the gang

I'm thinking the Arachnos Agent/Law Enforcer badge with a maxed out Patrol Bar on a full team doing missions at Tier 2/Tier 4 difficulty. -
Second Impression:
I only have a mild case of altitis but there are toons that I let sit for quite awhile (for various reasons).
This system, in current form, allows me to flesh out my sitters while I focus on my more active toons... gives me a glimmer of hope when I go back to a toon that's at one of the less exciting level ranges. -
First Take:
I'm glad that it's 30 days and not 5, last thing that I think this game needs in the whole gaming populace having every Accolade power assaociated with that system inside of a couple months (in addition to having most, if not all, the temp bonuses at close to maximumm output at one time). That was my main worry when Day Jobs was being explained.
If it was to be shortened, no less than 15 days (although I'm partial to 20). -

As for the PVP zones, yes, doing PVE content there will be harder.

Once you zone into a door mission in a PvP zone; will you still be considered as being in a PvP zone? Or will your powers revert to following the PvE rules until you exit the instanced mission? -
I think you can convert it in your SG base with the Empowerment Stations... can't remember for sure though.

Funny random thought - it's about time the game caught up with Mid's Hero Designer!
[/ QUOTE ]
and here I was, wondering if Mid's would be able to program that in, lol, I forgot that it was already there. -
...as far as the doubling of IO and enhancement spending goes; I think that the merit system will help ease that burden quite a bit.
(That is, if both builds have access to the same storage pool) -
Isn't the 'dual-build' function already a mechanic in the Tabula Rasa MMO; ie., cloning?
Anyway, I do like the option for dualling... it means that I save an entire character creation slot when confronted with the dillemma of having two builds for one specific powerset combo.
I am sad that The Architect has been pushed back.... being that was the feature I was most looking forward to and being that it was the big feature that was being pushed at us.
Oh well, we'll see if the torches and pitchforks come out... -
Does this mean a bump up for the I13 release?
-
Hey Bruce, welcome to the forumite wing of the kookhouse!
Questions, hm...
1. Any strengthening of the Portal Corp alternate worlds storyline to the current CoX one?
2. Resurrection of Leviathan?
3. More in-depth backgrounds on the enemy groups by mousing over corresponding badges?
4. Or random CoX 'news articles' as a fourth option in the scanner/paper?
In any event, welcome to the team... put the whip on 'em... make 'em push out issues faster. -
Interesting Info thread, eh?
Sounds like a RickRoll to me, lol -
On the subject of Patron Pools... it's cool that we get to respec into and out of them but it would be nice if it came with a package consisting of Heroes getting 'Patrons' as well while Villains would receive 'Ancillaries'.
Plus a little more info on how the Patron Pool respec would work (like having to complete the Patron arc of the pool that you wanted to respec into, etc.) would probably elicit a bit more feedback. -
On the screenshot for the Mission Creator (found at ParagonWiki); the implication is that we would only be able to place one enemy group per mission (ie. ONLY Malta OR KoA; not Malta AND KoAs).
If this is the case... could you please expand that a bit (if possible) before we get to wrangle with it.
Thanks. -
1. Living Weapons/Shields (Chestplates, 'Armored' costume pieces)
A weapon-skin that would make the item appear alive in 2 flavors; something good and something wicked.
2. Netherworld Weapons/Shields/Costume pieces (with that eerie Nictus type effect/color scheme.
3. Energy Blades/Shields
4. An Aura category for weapons. -
So... being that the option is already active (although the Store itself doesn't seem to be working); how many have been sold so far?
-
There's too many reasons to justify changing ones build more than once besides bad planning.
Going from being a primarily solo player to a team player or vice versa.
Building to get you through boring, tedious or challenging level ranges, then respeccing out once you're done
Misinformation or bad data
Going from a PvE build to a PvP build or vice versa
Power and Enhancement changes beyond player control
The desire just to try something different
Going from a RP build to a min/max build or vice versa
Respeccing for a specific player event.
Creating a farm build.
Etc. -
Well, considering that we don't know much about what they have coming down the pipes... who can say how this will ultimately pan out.
Offline rewards
The CoV/CoH merger as a setup for future projects
Further Powerset Proliferation
Patron Pool being unlocked
Mission Builder
...these are only the things that we know about
Still think they could've done better with the pricing (a new character slot is only $5.99; $20 for 5 ($2 each))... but who know what the grand picture for 2008-09 will be? -
Is a respec really worth $10 bucks? I know that the demand is moderate to high but taking advantage of that demand at that kind of a price seems like something the oil companies would cook up.
Why not increase the drop rate of the recipe drops or even charging a lower price?
If I ever use this, over transferring a toon or unlocking a slot or getting an entire pack of something... heck, even starting new accounts for my G/F or son (with multiple slots and potential freespecs); I couldn't imagine using it more than once or for more than one toon at that price point.
If it were $3.50 (or an inexpensive bundle of respecs for $X), then I would be more tempted to use it on multiple alts and possibly multiple times; and in the end, if demand based income is what this game is turning to, bargains will attract more prospective buyers and/or transactions in both the short and long terms. -
Forgot to mention:
You can also craft the 'Increase Attack Speed' (20%) Empowerment Buff (temp power that lasts 1 hour) at your SG/VG Empowerment Stations
**Would have added this in as an edit but it's not giving me that option. -
Two suggestions/statements about the zone:
Make the Roman costume pieces easier to find. Right now... they aren't in corresponding categories like 'Armored'; they're scattered.
No Cyclops or Minotaurs in the non-instanced areas? Can we either expand the zone so that we can have a few that roam freely over the Cimerora hillsides or, at the very least, include missions that have them. (Or a Cimerora hazard zone?)
As it stands, Cimerora pales in comparison to the RWZ in all aspects except the ITF. -
*Work in Progress*
This will be a quick little ditty on how you can maximize your speed (relative to your opponents).
Part I: Overview
Why speed building?
Building a character with an extremely fast recharge rate allows that character to spam fast attacks, buffs, heals and procs.
It increases the chances of being able to stack/sustain mezzes and debuffs against a target.
It allows you to build up inherents, such as Fury and Domination, more quickly so that you can more often be at peak perfomance.
It also enables faster activation, chaining and/or overlap of most long recharge powers and abilities.
**Note: Speed builds have the pitfall of rapid Endurance drain, so make sure that such a build has adequate End reduction enhancements or fast Endurance recovery.
Part II: How do I make my character recharge more quickly?
*The easiest way to make your toon faster is to slot Recharge Reduction enhancers into your character's individual powers with either TOs, SOs, IOs or portions of IO Sets.
*Your second option could be to take the Hasten power from the Speed Pool. Hasten boosts your Global Recharge by 70%.
*If your powerset(s) have powers that give your character a recharge bonus (as in Quickness, Accelerated Metabolism, Siphon Speed or Mental Training); make sure to snatch it up when it best fits into your particular build:
Quickness, Lightning Reflexes and Mental Training are all auto-powers, giving a 20% Recharge buff, that can be found in Secondaries such as Electric Armor, Super Reflexes and the VEAT seondaries.
Siphon Speed resides in the Kinetics Powerset and applies a 20% buff per application (up to 60% stacked).
Accelerated Metabolism is a Team + Self buff (that also provides Endurance recovery, a damage boost and mez resistance) that ups your recharge by 30% (although the power can be overlapped by the same user under certain circumstances, I am unaware if this overlap allows the bonus to be stacked. Also, I do not know at this time if multiple activations from different players allow buff stacking?)
*There are also IO Set bonuses that require powers that use them to give up a few slots for a Global Recharge Bonus.
These set bonuses may be applied up to 5 times per character for 5 times the effect:
Follow this link for a detailed listing.
At a quick glance, there a 6 sets that provide 2.5%, 4 that provide 3.75, 11 that provide 5%, 7 that provide 6.25%, 3 that provide 7.5% and 9 sets that provide 10%
*If you have the funds, you can also opt to invest in Recharge procs and/or Uniques (if you have powers capable of slotting them).
Luck of the Gambler, a Defense set has a 7.5% buffing unique while Forced Feedback, from the Knockback sets, has a recharge proc that buffs for 100% for 5 seconds.
*If you're up to the task, there are even Accolade Powers you can try for (Force of Nature and Geas of the Kind Ones) that can give a decent boost (100% for 60 seconds) to your Recharge at a penalty to -10% Defense.
*Finally, you can opt to team with other toons that have team/ally Recharge buffing powers such as Accelerated Metabolism or Speed Boost.
Part III: Slowing down your target can make you seem fast to them
Depending on your choice of powersets, there may be powers available that will allow you to debuff how quickly a target can recharge their attacks.
Your largest selection of these type of powers will come from most of the Ice and Psionic sets; with other being scattered throughout various sets.
Also, most attacks that can be slotted for Sleep, Accuracy debuff or Slow sets can be fitted with Recharge debuff procs; Dark Watcher's Despair from the -ACC set, Induced Coma from the Sleep set and Pace of the Turtle from the slow set.
When using recharge debuffs in a build not optimized for speed, you create an effect a Hasten-like effect, relative to the target, of up to 90%.
In builds that do work in recharge optimization, you gain an additional bonus to your recharge bonus of up to 90%; again, relative to the target's ability to respond.
Part IV: Other effects that give you time to breathe
Last but no least are mezz effects. Effects such as Stun, Hold, Fear, Sleep, Placate, Terrorize, Confusion and Knockdown (Up/Back) provide additional ways to slow down the rate at which you receive damage from enemy attacks.
Stun and Hold essentially keep a target from doing anything until the duration of those effects expire.
Sleep, Placate and Fear keeps targets from attacking you... so long as you don't attack them. For Sleep and Placate, their duration ends as soon as you attack an affected target. For Fear, targets can attack for each attack you make during the duration of the effect.
Terrorize sends targets scrambling to get out of an Area of Effect; pausing every so often to attempt an attack.
Confusion creates an effect in which the target opts to attack someone else other than you; reducing the amount of attacks they would normally be able to target you with.
Knocker powers, for the most part, prevent a target from attacking while they are in the process of falling. However, targets have been known to get attacks off prior to being affected by instances of Knockers. It still manages to slow targets down.
Mezzes work great on their own but if you can find a way to chain and/or stack these effects; you can definately maintain a more rapid pace of attacks than your targets.
Even combinations of different mezzes can be as effective as running a Defensive power toggle in terms of damage mitigation. -

While widows are pretty fun at low levels, Wolf Spiders are a nightmare. It is an absolute miserable grind to get to 24 so you can drop the wolf set like a bad habit. It takes all 3 ranaged attacks plus pummel to take out an even con minion.....wtf? Heavy Burst has been completely castrated. Our first power in the secondary which we are forced to take is a pointless 3% resistance to Sm/Le, while widows is a nice 7.5% defense to melee.....something worth taking.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wolves are slow moving when going solo, played them on test and knew they would be. Figured they would be since they're pretty much AR Corrs but without all the ranged attacks and support buffs from any Corr secondary.
I won't even get into how well they do on teams because it's a completely different animal that what you're talking about.
All I can suggest as a solo player myself, is to:
Take your WAWG
Take you Venom Grenade
Take your TT: Man
Take Mental Training, Hasten and Stamina
If you have any -Def procs (especially Achilles Heel), use them
If you can fit in Frag Grenade and a FF proc, use that too (avoiding HB for the time being)
You'll need to play into the Wolf's secondary and ramp up their speed to maximize them -
allow widows to slot slow set plz
-
a single shot from an automatic weapons houldn't take so long (unless you're aiming for a potential critical shot *hint hint*)
