Well assuming you're planning to mostly solo it I would say /Pain or /Thermal as your secondary. Early game the easiest tactic for a Mastermind is to just have you and all of your pets run into melee range and start brawling so a PBAoE heal is pretty handy for those levels. /Poison might also work well since it has a strong (albeit single target) resistance debuff early. /Dark is also nice as it has an AoE heal, a good (if slow recharging) patch power and a nice debuff, downside is the to hit roll needed for the heal.

Primary probably doesn't make much of a difference. The minions you have around for those levels all have relatively similar powers. The melee pets will have a bit of an advantage since at low levels you lack the tools to keep enemies out of melee range anyway so you might as well embrace it. Necromancy is quite nice due to the strong melee attacks on the Grave Knight. Demons have a variety of damage types and extra protection from the Ember Demon. Robots provide some extra protection from the Protector.

I disagree. The upgrades are not a perfect solution but they are an improvement over what we currently have. I don't necessarily think that they will have the effect that the devs are hoping for but from a player point of view it is an improvement. It does offer a potential new incentive for griefing but it also offers the option for more control which can only be a good thing.

Now I do somewhat agree with you that the system is not necessarily a good idea in the first place. If it had been introduced for Task Forces I would have been ecstatic but given the larger team sizes I'm not convinced that a random team former is the way to go.

I believe the vote-kick is the intended solution to that. Whether it will work is another matter (for example it would be easy to force a failure on Lambda if you really wanted to before the league could realize and kick you).

At the end of the day I think the community will vote with how they play. If people griefing open leagues becomes a major problem the community will decide to forgo the extra merits and run closed leagues (or possible run open leagues but fill them completely before starting). Now this is, essentially what is happening now (although without the specific ability for a closed league. The devs are giving us some of what we want (the ability to form a closed league) but are also offering a bribe to try to get us not to use it. Only time will tell if the bribe is sufficient to make people abandon the safety and convenience of the closed league for the risk of an open league.
  4. I went for the radial rebirth on my Bots/Traps, it seems to work well.

I had the same concern. Fortunately Positron answered it in the open beta forums. I'm not 100% convinced that the proposed solution is the right one but it seems like it should work. Especially if people can now actually use the queue to join an event in progress. It will still technically be possible for a "private" league to run as open and then kick extras but since people can keep rejoining they'll have to keep kicking people for the duration of the trial.

For an SO build I'd probably do:
    1 Acc, 1-2 Hold, 2-3 Recharge

For an IO build I'd probably do a full Lockdown set for the ranged defense bonus but depending on the rest of your build a different set and/or frankenslotting might work better.
  7. Well each of the Super Booster and several of the other packs have an extra inherent power so checking for those would easily tell you if you have those packs.

The tricky ones are the costume/emote only ones which are (I think):
    Wedding Pack
    Party Pack
    Origin Pack

That's only true if there is a certain amount of civilization around to provide a solid backing for the currency. People will only take currency (even specie) if they either want it themselves or are confident other people will accept it as currency.

In a scavenger world or subsistence level economy this is unlikely to be the case. Once things get a bit more settled and towns start going up then you'll start seeing currency again.

I would disagree slightly on the guns portion. Yes, they are less essential for surviving but they also prevent other people from taking the stuff you have that is essential to survival (or allow you to take similar items from other people if you want to go that route).

Actually the leader won't be random. If you pre-form a league and enter the queue it will use the same system as now.

The only changes are that it's now possible to block people from joining via the queue and selecting "join trial in progress" will now put you in a trial even if it's above minimum strength (I think, Posi implied this but it was not explicitly confirmed).

So the easiest way to get the bonus merits without taking random people on your team is to form a full league.
  10. Well one thing to keep in mind is that EMP Pulse only has a "light" crash. It stops your recovery for 15 seconds but doesn't actually drain you beyond the endurance used to actually cast it. So as long as your endurance is reasonably high at the time of casting it's not to difficult to fight through the crash.

That is true, however a zone specifically designed for league formation could be set as a low-graphics zone (i.e. simple architecture, now enemies) and potentially even have a power suppression field in effect which might then allow for a larger zone cap alleviating the problem somewhat. For example on Virtue I rarely see more than 3 RWZs so a single zone with a size cap 3x-4x the normal could probably hold all raiders in a single instance.

After all, you're probably the only one smart enough to have useable currency around in your neighborhood and someone will take notice that you're the only one who can buy food.
I figure a more likely problem is finding someone who's actually willing to sell you food for the gold. The problem is that in a breakdown of society only two things are really valuable: food (which you need to eat) and weapons (which can be used to defend your food supply and/or steal food from other people).

Unless you have an abundance of food and "security" then gold doesn't do you much good.
  13. I have two heroic MMs (well ok, one's currently a villain because I started him this evening and I haven't gotten him high enough to switch sides yet but he's a hero at heart).

    Adeon Hawkwood MK3 (Bots/Traps)

Adeon Hawkwood is an established Hero in Paragon City. As his abilities are based on his power armor rather than inherent to him he has the advantage of being able to switch suits of armor to meet different situations and has built the Mark 3 specifically to counter the threat represented by Emperor Cole's War Works. While the War Works robots are individually inferior to most of Paragon's heroes Cole can churn them out in large enough quantities to potentially overwhelm any hero. Consequently the Mark 3 armor is a prototype for a control system to allow Paragon's heroes to control their own robot army at need.

    Lord Harrandeous (Demon/Thermal)

Lord Harrandeous hails from a dimension very different from Primal Earth. Life took a very different evolutionary path resulting in a species with very strong natural magical abilities and an appearance that would be considered demonic to a normal human. Importantly the strength of their abilities varies with age, they start off weak, grow stronger as they get older and eventually weaken again. This has influenced their culture around the idea that the strong should seize control in order to protect the weak so that in time the weak will become strong and in their turn protect the old rulers as they weaken. This produces an attitude that combines what is essentially Social Darwinism and a very strong tradition of Noblesse Oblige.

Like Primal Earth they eventually developed inter-dimensional travel but instead of being based on portals they utilize special vessels to transverse the probability currents between dimensions. On one fateful day Lord Harrandeous set off in the good ship Corradiac on a voyage of exploration. After making a stop over at dimension K3F7 to re-provision the dimensional currents took a turn for the worse and a major probability storm blew up. The storm lasted for 11 days during which five men went overboard and the probability sail was damaged beyond their ability to repair it. With no way to get the ship to port he gave the order to abandon ship. The majority of the crew loaded into the ship's longboat and under the command of the executive officer set out to return to K3F7 where they would hopefully be able to await a rescue ship. However the dimensional locator beacons of the five missing crew members were showing them to be in a nearby dimension so Lord Harrandeous took the gig and set off to attempt a rescue mission accompanied only by Ensign Farrick. Unfortunately the dimensional turbulence around Primal Earth was almost to much for them and they barely made it through with the gig being destroyed in the process. Now stuck on Primal Earth he is attempting to locate his lost crew members and find a way home.
  14. That looks like a pretty decent build to me. One thing I would suggest in your Positron's Blast sets is replacing the Dam/Range with the Proc. Positron's is overslotted for damage so losing the damage won't help you and the extra range isn't much use (it's somewhat useful for cone powers but even there you really need other range bonuses to make it useful).

I also wouldn't softcap Fulcrum shift for Accuracy. Between Acc set bonuses and Tactics you should be at 95% to hit even with a single Acc IO.

Also Tip Missions. It's important to remember that to go from Rogue to Hero you need to do Tip Missions in Paragon City.

Right, that's what I was suggesting. My point was that no matter how much negative defense they have you will still miss 5% of the time.

My assumption is that the vulnerability to psionic is supposed to represent you scrambling the brains of the crew inside. Either that or it's a typo and it's actually supposed to be immune to psionic damage (it actually has two different resistance powers, one provides +75% resistance to all, the other provides -25% psionic resistance*).

*That is to say the impact is -25% so either it's -25% unresistable or -100% resistable.

From a practical point of view, implementing a special feature to auto-hit objectives is probably a lot of work. Simply giving them a highly negative defense value so we're always at 95% to hit is probably a lot easier for almost the same effect.

Unfortunately you aren't the only one. There's a lot of misleading and incorrect knowledge about the rewards floating around which ends up causing more problems than the system itself .

AFAIK components do not drop during the trial. You can get components during the trial for earning the badges but not as random drops.

This one I actually disagree with. The computer is setup as a challenge, it's not just a matter of dealing sufficient damage to kill it but doing so whilst surviving the onslaught of the robots.

There is an important distinction between mission objectives such as the Mole Machines which just sit there and take it and the computer which summons ambushes to defend itself while you are pounding it.

    WST for June

Yeah, I was wondering about this.
  24. Clearly we need price caps. Fuel was $2 a gallon no so long ago, there is no reason for it to now be $4 a gallon other than flippers.
  25. There are some entities in the game whose only purpose is to sit there and be destroyed as a mission objectives. Now most of these are fine but some of them are absolutely ridiculous.

I was doing the mission "Stop Nemesis Attack!" from Black Scorpion which requires you to destroy 4 Nemesis Mole Machines. I noticed it was taking me forever to kill them even on a high DPS character so I took a look at them with my power analyzer and discovered that they have 75% resistance to everything except Psionic (which is 50%). I really, really think that this needs to be reduced. Spending several minutes cycling through my attacks against an inanimate object that can't fight back is in no way interesting.

Several other objective items seem to be similar (the Meteor in the Shivan mission of the Ouroborus Initiation arc comes to mind as another offender) I really think that these items should have their resistances and/or hit points reduced.
