I seem to remember that Kerensky used to be part of the team over here a while back. And then he left. But i never knew where/why.
Does he now work for Runes of Magic? I recenetly signed up for the game and Kerensky is the EN - Community Manager. Just someone with the same name or is it actually him? -

Oh a performance shifter chance for +end is very useful. I have them on most of my toons.
Very good for blasters post nova as it is a reasonable chance proc.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is very sound advice.
I have that on most of my toons. And it long fights thats made the difference between my sheilds staying on and my sheilds dropping. -
For my SG then i'll have to say Defiant Events
granted their are a few pains in the *** in there *cough* Xemulas *cough* (jking)
but there are many really good players in that channel and some of the TFs i've done with players in that channel have been great. -
Good.
The main reason i've been happy to PL new players is because of the lack of high player base atm.
Yeah i powerlevel someone to 50. But after that what happens to them? They are new they don't wanna do it again, they wanna go beat stuff up on their new awesomeness 50. SO they try new things. Some will join Defiant Events (speaking from defiants point of view only) and others will go PVPing, and others will go do some missions, because on their awesomeness 50 they wanna be an awesomeness player.
So i think yeah its a great thing, as long as people are paitenet.
Would you rather go slow and help a few "noobs" out in PvPing for more PvP fights in the future if they enjoy it? (let them win sometimes, all about confidence)
Or would you rather not bother, tell them to level a character properly, and then have less overall PvP, ruining it for not only them, but you too in the long term not having much going on? -

First thing's first; why can't we make custom critter Underlings? We make make everything from Minions to AV's but not Underlings? I would love one of my custom AV's to have his own legion of annoying and pointless ankle-biters

I like it
i know a few annoying people on defiant i'd like to re-create and then kill in one shot -
I hate peoples views on farming.
And some of you guys on the forum make me laugh.
Farming is the best thing to do on COH with the way WentWorths is.
Let me explain why (for those that think farming ruins the economy)
We earn influence and recipies at a faster rate than anyone else in the game.
We usually (speaking for myself and the farmers i know only) put any drops we get on WW regardless of what it is.
We'll also usually put it on quite a bit lower than the last bids too. We wanna farm more we don't want to sit there waiting for it to sell just to put the rest in.
So more recipies at lower prices? How is farming like that a bad thing?
The next time you complain about farming you should look at your build. See if you brought any IOs from wentworths, and then think, well i better not complain i probably brought it from the farmers. -

You haven't taken into consinderation the controllers secondary at all. Try playing on a blaster where a rad really neufs your acc, damage, res and def everytime you get close. Or fighting a kin thats drained your endurence, dropped your toggles and made it so you are unable to attack really (i have beaten and even annoyed so many blasters on my fire/kin just by draining his endurence)
So a blaster with nurfed accuracy, slowed right down, nurfed damage, no endurence etc doesn't stand a chance.
[/ QUOTE ]
range you've not got a heal and any good blaster, holds or not won't allow you to get that close.
[/ QUOTE ]
And a good kin controller will not give that blaster any choice..
Its still quite easy to stop them from jumping, and with a couple of siphon speeds, that blaster isn't going anywhere.
Also as a good kin, you should easily be able to keep up with the blaster.
I faced an AR/Energy yesterday. He gave up at 4-0 because of how quickly i was beating him (he'd done quite a few pvp matches before and was quite good, he'd just never been killed that quick before)
He tried jumping and flying around alot, Using his stuns, boost range and attacking, allsorts. But still being able to play a kin well, i was able to get into meele range with ease, and able to halt his travel with ease. A Blaster not able to travel is a dead blaster.
So i'll still have to disagree with your post. I still believe that a blaster verses controller of equal skill level and build dependant, the controller should win, and it shouldn't be too much trouble either. -

So Badgenarok is indeed coming; I notice though that the MA has included the level setting, which will allow me to remove the battles which were previously forcing the level and thus squeeze in EVEN MORE COW PUNS into my arc... hopefully before they award the next round of Dev Choice. What can I say? I'm hopelessly optimistic for some sense of personal progress... not so much about the MA in general though. With the hundreds of thousands of arcs published now, and very little bar the writing to separate them all out, I can't see them being played in general except for farming/cheap salvage now. Oh well, it'll be with us soon enough, so we'll see how it all shakes out...

Put your arc IDs in your sig - it might help you get a few more play throughs that way.

I'm in. -
Well i'm on a mission to see much more active forum postings, and people being nicer too
anyway, the next question i have to ask is..
What is in your opinion the best supergroup on this server?
I'd also like to know your reasons why.
Couple of rules though
1.) Please don't mention prestigue or the place in the top 100. I don't feel like thats an important part of an SG
2.) Please do not put down other super groups.
It could be for many reasons, and pretty much everyone is going to say their own SG anyway -

Good point, thanks for the help! <3

No problem.
Good luck and you know where i am if you need any build/slotting advice. -

Instead of Superjump, should I take Maneuvers? I dont think I'll need a second Travel Power on this build...I've got Hurdle to get over those tricky obstacles.

You said you're getting combat jumping, So you'll already be at your 4 max. Unless you don't get combat jumping, then no don't because you can't -
[ QUOTE ]
Is Acrobatics really good ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Waste of a power, get the knockback IOs, you'll get more than enough to withstand most knockback
The 4 pool powers, and the powers i got within those 4, i got on my fire/kin are
Speed : Hasten, Super Speed
Fitness: Hurdle, Health, Stamina
Fighing: Boxing, Tough, Weave
Jumping: Combat Jumping, Super Jump (i got these at level 47 and 49 due to not really wanting anything else)
Also i only got combat jumping to slot a LOTG +7.5% recharge in it, never bothered slotting it for defence
As for leadership, i'd advise agaisnt that. I'd rather get defence and resistance, than just defence. Accuary isn't really needed, and as a fire/kin if your not on damage cap 90% of the time, then stop playing it, so assualt is usless too.
Finally for Epic, the 2 best (imo) are Fire and Psionic
I pretty much always go for fire as i only farm with it, however if your more a team player and doing "proper" missions, then the mez protect from the Psionic pool is great.
Fire Ball does more damage than Psionic tornado, but Psionic tornado does knockdown, and can be slotted with the +100% recharge proc.
Fire Shield if you farm the deamon map
Psi Shield if you want some extra Psionic defence -
[ QUOTE ]
If your fighting a fire blaster with a troller then no matter what individual bonuses each player has, the blaster should win every time (depending on skill level and or build). And that's how it should be, and that is fair. Blasters are the "offensive juggernauts" and controllers are support toons. Expecting them to be equal is naive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunatly i have to disagree.
Out of a controller and blaster at the same skill level, the controller should win everytime. If the controller doesn't win, then either the other player has alot more pvp experience, or you shouldn't be playing a controller
Edit : And now i've read the rest of the forum, and people have already spoke about this. That'll teach me to read all posts first. -

It seems that after editing your base, there are times you randomly lose your SG. During this period you cannot edit your base or upgrade your plot. You can still talk in SG and Coalition chat however no-body in your SG or Coalitions can see your messages and you cannot see their messages in those channels either. Usually leaving or re-entering your base can fix it. This has only happened after editing my SG base, however not every time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sent off bug report however posted here too to stop panic just in case somebody gets randomly dropped from their supergroup and turns to post it here. -
Okay i've just realised you cannot edit your first post after a certain period of time, so will write the whole thing and then post in a different Topic when the guide is completed. I will still welcome any suggestions as to what people think should be included, however as this is no longer really a guide it may need to be moved.

@Heyman
Not bad guide, now I see why you were asking about the startchat command in Defiant Events.
One point of note, the $ (string) is used to chain commands together it doesn't specifically mean 'and then do this'. For instance when used in mutually exclusive ways:
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>/bind <key> "powexec_name hover$$powexec_name fly"</pre><hr />
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh i know mate, but at this stage of the guide, it was mainly to cover those for people who haven't really used binds, and i didn't want to over complicate things for people in this stage.
However when covering the more advanced binds later in the guide the features of the $$ will be explained in more detail.
[ QUOTE ]
$ can also be used with a variety of names, so you can reuse predefined text like your name or your tagets name with $name or $target. Indeed some of these (and others) can be used in MA text.
[/ QUOTE ]
This will be included soon (when updating the first part) however for ease as their is so much to be written about binds, i was just going to quote a list of $ features from a different place as this isn't just used in Binds as you have also said. -
I've never attempted at writing a guide before and i decided there was no time like the present. This is a simple guide aimed at people with little experience of using binds and macros, and the aim by the end of this read is to be able to use many binds of charactors effectively.
Please note that my spelling isn't exactly the best, but i am sure everyone will be able to work out what each word is
Okay so where to start? From the beginning of coarse.
A bind is basically a command that tells the game what each key should be doing. Many are set up automatically, for example you can press W to run foward and S to run backwards, but you can also choose to set up your own keybinds to access some more advanced ways of playing. You can set up a bind by using a / (slash) command which is /bind.
The general layout of setting up a bind is /bind [key] "whatever you want the bind to do".
[key] is any key on your keyboard, a,b,c etc.
[u] Basic Chat Bind [u]
The most basic bind is probably a chat bind. This is basically where pressing one key will allow you to say a pre-set sentence or paragraph. Extremely useful if you need to say the same thing over and over again during your carear as a hero.
An example of this could be; you are a low level hero and you find that you need to rest alot to regain your endurence. Instead of typing "I need to rest" everytime in team chat, wouldn't it be easier to just press 1 key to say it for you? This is where a bind comes in. For the spercific bind i mentioned, typing... /bind p "team I need to rest" will make it so that everytime you press the letter p your hero will say "I need to rest" in team chat. This works because (/bind p) binds the letter you wish, ("team) tells the letter what channel you wish to say your text on and (I need to rest") tells the letter what your text is.
Please not that in text binds, the channel you wish to say your text on comes directly after the first speak mark.
You can bind in many different channels
/bind p "yell i need to rest" will say the text broadcast
/bind p "local i need to rest" will say the text in local
/bind p "request i need to rest" will say the text in the request channel
/bind p "sg i need to rest" will say the text in super group channel
The list goes on....
But there is a much easier way to say your text in whatever channel you want, without using seperate binds if you come accross times to say it in Team, Local, Supergroup chat etc.
The command is; /bind p "say I need to rest"... This will now say the required text in whatever channel you are on. If your on team chat and press p it'll say it in team, if your on local chat and press p it'll say it on local, etc etc.
Q: Why is the basic chat bind important?
A: Because it saves alot of time in typing the same thing over and over again.
Q: What examples can you think of that make the chat bind effective?
A: Aswell as the example i gave above, if you are recrutiing for an SG, if you are looking for a team, if you have a slogan you like to say alot and many more.
[u] Binding Emotes [u]
Another bind people tend to use is an emote bind. This saves the time of typing /em whateveremote or clicking on the little speach bubble and finding the emote they want to do. In the chat bind, the channel follows the speach marks, but when binding emotes instead of "say, or "team... the word emotes follows the speach marks. Using the letter P as an example again, a basic emote bind would look something like this
/bind p "emote dance"
/bind p "emote backflip"
/bind p "emote alakazamreact".
Without going into too much detail about emote binding, you can bind pretty much any emote using this. Its useful if you are one of those heroes who use the same emote over and over again.
[u] Basic Use Of The Dollar Sign [u]
"$" can do many things in the world of binds. Putting 2 of those signs together in a bind is basically acting as an "and then do this" command. Extremely useful for linking 2 or more things into the same bind. I'll now go over some very basic uses requiring $$.
Say you wanted to say a bit of text and do an emote at the same time, the 2 dollar sign command makes this very simple to do.
An example of this would be; saying "Everybody Dance Now" and your hero dancing at the same time. All you will need to do for this (using p as my example again, and i probably will always use P as an example i just can't be bothered to type that everytime from now " /bind p "say Everybody Dance Now $$ emote dance"
Really easy isn't it? You can bind any emote with any text you want. Useful for taunting the bad guys, having a laugh in atlas park, or even impressing the ladies (not that any ladies play city of heroes, its ALWAYS men dressed as women )
All of these binds are extremely basic, but they can be useful for some team situations or just having a bit of fun when you get bored of "arresting" people.
I will continue to add more to the basic section and then do the more advanced uses of binds throughout the week aimed to be fully completed by this weekend. I will add more daily by editing the first post and eventually get rid of this little bit of text
This has been posted at a very early stage to allow people any suggestions they think should be included in the guide whilst it is still in the early writing stage. -

I miss the old hollows too, always full of new players. I remember chasing a low level blaster around after my brother convinced him that the squid thingys (i was on a warshade) kills heroes. And tricking him so many times by looking like a normal hero and then going into squid form and watching him run again.

Classic, that made me smile.

So then everyone who played on double xp weekends in Sg mode farmed prestigue then? The risk was no higher but the reward much greater. Surely then pretty much every single SG in the top 100 farmed some of its prestigue?
[/ QUOTE ]
No doubt there are shades of grey here, however I always view farming as a team who deliberately reset and restart certain missions over and over or exploit MA weaknesses. Things like double xp weekends are there for all.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was only using that as an example to show that as their is no clear view on farming that everyone can agree on, there is no point in even going on about the farming in this thread.
Some people would class doing radio missions over and over as farming (no resetting and restarting there)
Others would class doing TFs many times a week in SG mode as farming
There are so many people that say So many different kind of things about farming that to alot of people every single SG in the top 100 has farmed at some point. -

[ QUOTE ]
Hang on a sec, what constitutes a prestige "farmer" exactly?
Asking people to be in SG mode is not in my opinion farming prestige. It just builds up as a result of doing whatever your doing dosent it? Or am i missing something?
Well done to Bruce and his crew by the way.
[/ QUOTE ]
my definition would be someone who actively pursues prestige by repeating a high reward(more inf, more prestige) low risk mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
So then everyone who played on double xp weekends in Sg mode farmed prestigue then? The risk was no higher but the reward much greater. Surely then pretty much every single SG in the top 100 farmed some of its prestigue? -
I think this is being looked at in completely the wrong way.
If the top 100 is dominated by farmers. Surely an SG that doesn't farm being in the top 100 is more of an achievment? This is because all the Farming SGs earn their prestigue at an extremely fast rate, so those that do it by doing TFs and teaming in SG mode should be more proud of themseleves? (either that or the farmers are S***.)
It brings more value to the list, as although the 100-90th place is easy to get too with lack of active SGs, rising and beating the farmers is quite an achievment.
