I will never look at Pancakes the same way again...

The great thing about the Team Up Teleporter (just kinda rolls off the tongue) is the potential it has for additional implementation opportunities. As was previously mentioned, we're definitely not ruling anything out and will always be looking for ways to use the T.U.T. to improve your gameplay experience.

I hear more and more Yanks using the term "Cheers" (it's pandemic with my friends) while in game. It's an odd phenomenon.

Folks,
The snarky comments regarding NCsoft's motivation for donating to those in need are not needed, nor will they be permitted within this thread. When an organization makes a contribution to help with a crisis, it is common practice to state the amount of the donation, up to and including governments.
Please, take a moment to consider your words before you post them and ask if they're adding to the Community or detracting from it.
Thanks

Happy Friday everyone! I'm talking in a hushed whisper right now, just in case some of you had just a weeeee bit to much fun last night
To recap what's happening in the CoH-verse this week:
- Thanks to everyone who shared their St Patty's day themed costumes! We'll be sharing some of our favorites on our Facebook page next week, so there's still time to post your holiday themed threads!
- We continue to send our sympathy and positive thoughts to the people of Japan. We encourage anyone who wishes to support relief efforts to please visit any one of the links found in this news post here.
- We have been closely following player response, both positive and critical to our announcement of Global Server Access. Please be sure to check out the official discussion thread. We're maintaining an open dialog around your concerns and communicating this to the development team, so please join in the conversation if you feel compelled to do so.
- It's always a Nemesis plot.
- Waffles > Pancakes
- We've been testing the bajeebus out of Issue 20 on the North American Beta Server and the EU Training Room (let me tell you how much we cannot wait until it's just one unified test server ). The Devs and Community teams have been having a blast running the new Incarnate Trials with everyone who's been coming out and we've found a lot of bugs and gotten some great feedback! We're REEEEAAAAAL close to Open Beta and we'll be kicking it off with a Developer play session next week, so get your test clients installed and updated!
- Did I mention it's always a Nemesis plot?
Have a great and safe weekend everyone! -
Thank you for the kind words all.
The entire Paragon team is very proud to be a part of the NC Soft organization and moments like this only reinforce that feeling.
Again, thank you and our continued thoughts and well wishes to those affected in Japan. -
Because it's not. There will still be French and German servers, nor do we plan to consolidate servers currently. EU Communities will remain intact and have even more opportunity to grow.
-
Folks,
This thread has gone into the realm of inappropriate.
Locking. -

On this day of merriment, frivolity and green beer, I come to you bearing updates.
So let's get down to Brass Tacks (yeah yeah...). We've been in serious discussion regarding many of the concerns expressed here. While some of our planning is still nascent, and as such I cannot go into a great deal of detail regarding our intent, I can state the following:
- To those stating we should not move forward with the Global Server Access plans, we cannot consider this. For a number of operational reasons, it's important that we move forward with Global Server Access.
- For those of you who have known conflicting @Global chat handles due to having accounts in both the NA and EU account database: We will be offering a reactivation weekend for those with inactive accounts on NA servers and active accounts on EU servers. This will coincide with the ability to rename your @Global chat handle prior to the database merge.
- We are currently investigating options to free up @Global chat handles off of inactive trial accounts. Please keep in mind, we will only do this if it does not present a considerable amount of risk.
We're going to make every effort we can to ensure that your in game persona remains as intact while presenting the least amount of risk to character records as possible. As someone who's job it is to manage online communities and provide a place for people to build relationships, I understand the importance of your virtual identity and the value you're placing on it. -
Folks,
I'm going to lock this thread as it is quickly getting ugly.
Please remember to keep your conversations civil and polite. Always remember to remain sensitive to the nature of current events when discussing topics such as this.

I've taken your concerns to the publishing and development team. We'll discuss some of the options that have been put forward and get back to you with our thoughts.

Just to chime in:
One thing that I always tell people who are asking about how to get into the gaming industry (aside from the requisite ARE YOU CRAZY) is the following:
Do everything you can do to get noticed. Fansite development, app or addon development, basically any sort of Community involvement. Remember that these are the things that make your exceptional candidate stand out from your average one.
Projects like this are a great way to be involved with the Community, especially if you eventually want to try to make games for a career. -
With Government cutbacks, the officers of the PPD are shooting a bikini calendar.
No, not really.
-
Folks,
The conversation is devolving to the point of argument and isn't constructive.
I'm going to go ahead and bring this discussion to a close.
Plus, Zombie threads eat your brains. -
It's Waffle Day here at Paragon Studios.

Quote:None of these methods are 100% guaranteed to reach each and every player. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no sure fire way of reaching every player who has ever played City of Heroes. Not good enough.
You have emails, forums, website, MOTD and now the launcher to deliver messages. That's five that I can think of now without trying.
We can make every bit of documentation, FAQ, advice, popups, MOTD and even personally knock on doors and we still would not be able to know with any certainty that we are able to reach 100% of our player base. -
Quote:One potential issue which was highlighted by the recent Play NC security updates: There are many players who do not have access to the email address their account was originally set up under, who may have forgotten their original security question, or any number of combinations of factors. Why not email (both account and in-game, since @Global Emails will work on every character) inactive accounts to explain things?
Again, I do apologize to the players who stand to be inconvenienced by this, however when all possible variables were factored in, we feel this was the proper decision to make. -
Concerns over how we will be handling account/global naming collisions are completely understandable and I sincerely apologize if you will be inconvenienced by this in a significant manner.
Please understand, we spent a lot of time reviewing possibilities and options when it came to handling accounts and globals with naming collisions. Pretty much all of the options mentioned above were discussed and weighed seriously in the decision making process. This was not an easy decision to make.
When making this decision, we had to realize that whatever solution we implemented would have to be explained to every player who ever decided to return to the game. Unfortunately a first come/first serve rule wouldn't be the easiest to explain, nor would it be the most fair to enforce. Date of account creation creates an additional collision possibility. Ultimately, we decided that the most direct, and easiest to understand method to accomplish this is to simply rename the accounts.
Again, I do understand preemptive frustration, especially if you are one of the few players actually effected by this policy. I sincerely hope that should you be effected you will view this as a minor bump in the road to creating a truly global Community.
