A statue or tribute to the Fukushima 50?

We have a group of 50 to 70 people who already know they will die from radiation poisoning.

They have decided that since they have already written the check and it was cashed to pay with their lives - they will continue to work and ignore further radiation to try and save others from radiation damage.

These are the Heroes.

We as humans should remember these people as examples of honor and duty. I personally find these workers to be amazing.

There are 180 people working to save the reactors, not 50-70. They're working them in shifts.

Who told you they're doomed? That's by no means certain (though the sudden increase in maximum "safe" radiation levels from 100 to 250 milisieverts is rather disconcerting. That doesn't mean the workers have already had a fatal dose, though.

I think you're being WAY premature. I also think RL events, especially such horrific catastrophes as this, should stay in the real world, not pretendy fun time games.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I think honoring a hero - is never out of place.

I was reading of one of the workers friends and his friend was told he was already likely past the safe limit. He replied - whether I die or not doesn't matter - can we stop this is what counts.

Jesus christ people.

Why not learn something about radiation before writing peoples lives off.

When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...

Regardless of what the situation may or may not currently be at Fukushima, I am vehemently against any sort of in-game "tribute" to real-life events. There's no in-game tribute to 9/11 (nor should there be) because it didn't happen in the CoH story. Likewise, for all anybody knows, the CoH version of Japan wasn't hit by an earthquake and a tsunami.

And if you're talking about some sort of out-of-game tribute, why are you posting it here?!

Folks,

I'm going to lock this thread as it is quickly getting ugly.

Please remember to keep your conversations civil and polite. Always remember to remain sensitive to the nature of current events when discussing topics such as this.
