I figure there is a signed NDA and a desire to not have leaks because they don't want us having expectations that are too high.
Remember how we all reacted to the alpha slot being yanked? Imagine if they didn't do a signed NDA (which to me would seem scary, because getting sued, or banned would suck) stuff leaked, and then that stuff wasn't in the issue. People would be readying the pitchforks and torches. -
Ever notice how costume threads grow faster than any other thread?
Seems the Devs would take that as a hint as to how important costume items are to us. -

Quote:I do this too.I always feel bad for people on the street being mugged. So even if Im level 50 flying through atlas, and I see someone yelling for help I'll swoop in and blow away the level 2 criminals to save them.
Even though its a fake computer generated victim. I feel bad for them so I save them.
im sad. -

Like I did before. I have a bunch of vet specs, so it hasn't effected me any.

Quote:I have never done the Moonfire TF, and I never plan to. If I had to do it to get the sash I have been wanting for years, I will not be happy about it. I don't always have the time for a TF, I know I am not alone in that.No. They are not enough and mostly irrelevant to 'shinies' (ie. extras). Good costume bits are always going to be in the pipeline (for free or fee); so waste is irrelevant to the issue.
I, personally, like unlocking extras that are off the beaten path of repetitive, linear progression. And after playing through over 2,000+ plus levels and about as many hours of repetitive, linear progression; going off the beaten path is what keeps things fresh for me... keeps me coming back.
Funny thing is, for as long as you, I or any other long standing player is concerned; most of the requirements that could be thrown at us (in a minor sense) has already been met by more than a handful of the toons in our possession... so the issue of unlocking (as far as you and I are concerned) is mainly moot except for new and fairly new toons; which at our experience and abilities, would make it a breeze to go through and have most minor extras unlocked in short order.
Honestly, I don't subscribe to the philosophy of needing to have everything right off the bat; I don't live in a Ricky Schroeder world. But to each his own.
I can live with defeat unlocks, because they can be done a little at a time, TFs (no matter the original design idea) are a start, and finish event in most cases. -
#1 would be an Eastern theme zone, with NPCs wearing the samurai and ninja outfits.
#2 would be anything in outer space. -
I can not stress enough how bad an idea unlockable costume parts are. Remember how pisses everyone was at the vet costumes, that is no different for the casual player that dosen't have time to do a TF to get a costume item. It also hinders concepts by not allowing characters to have these costume items at the beginning.
Back on topic.
The PPD hard suit is another oft requested item, that I would like to have.
If you would just share some of the costumes already in the game it would be cool too. Why again can't DB have the gladius that is unlocked by defeating 100 Romans?
The Romulus belt is nothing more than the shoulders placed at the waist, and seems to be much the same as the Samurai belt in function. As far as the Samurai belt goes, it has a sash under it. Just remove the armor pieces and give us the under sash.
Many of the NPC groups have leg armor, it would be really nice to have those thigh options.
ANY NPC back pack would be great, there are several current costume pieces that look weird w/o a complimenting back portion.
I will add more as I think of it. -
Quote:This for me. Those parts are really nice, and can be seen in the new Tina/Maria arcs when you fight Manticore, or in the screen shots for i19.The costume pieces used by the WarWorks would be good, as well as the smoother and less skeletal clockwork pieces used by such characters as IVy. Also, the pieces used by the low-level Praetorian Police would be nice.
Also the Kheldian Shash. They players have wanted that for a long long time.
Also, as I have said many times, I disagree with the whole "needs to be unique" statement for enemy groups. It is fine for the big NPCs, but it falls flat for something that can be seen street sweeping, or in radio missions.
Even for the Big characters (Rom) it comes off as a little lame. He for example is already on a larger model than the players have.
If there are NO costume parts in i19, there are going to be a large portion of the players that are unhappy. Ans PLEASE NO MORE unlocksable costume options. That really sucks for theme characters that should have them from level 1. -
I just hope they got a HUGE severance package.

From what I understand many of the positions were known to be temporary. People may wonder why you would take a job that you know will not last, but the answer is simple. To get a foot in the door.
I will miss BABs, he was always willing to entertain my ideas, and I bugged the hell out of him when weapon customization came out. I still never got the Cimeroian (sp) gladius with my DB scrapper, but it is cool.
His willingness to answer will be missed greatly. That is where David is winning me over, he is willing to communicate.
We are very lucky to have great Devs, I am not sure any other MMO can boast a community like ours, that is why it is such a shock to lose one of them. -
Quote:I think very few devs in this industry get this kind of fond reaction from the games they leave. I can't think of any devs outside of this game that I actually like and appreciate, let alone with the depths of friendliness I feel for the CoX devs. I hope BAB sees this video and knows how deeply he was appreciated.
I will take it a step further and say there was at least one game (HGL) where I had a strong dislike of the devs.
I hate I missed this, I didn't get home from school till 11:45 est though. -
No, I think he would have spoken up by now. I would love to be wrong though.
I am not sure how long he has been gone though. I found it really odd when he broke off all communication with the community he had been a large part of.
If he left before now, I wish he would have said good bye. If they laid him off, I wish they had let him say bye, or told us he was no longer with the game.
No matter what, I am sure he is looking at this and going "HAHA!". Because there are people none of us would miss. -
I am caught in a bit of a conundrum. While I HATE for NPCs to have costumes options that we do not get, I also hate when they look really plain.
I agree with the need for some new co-op zones. I am really surprised they have not converted the Shard or say Boomtown yet. -
Quote:nope.

Still, an official comment would be better than the rampant speculation all over the internet.

This needs to be said here too.
It also needs to be remembered that no matter what you put in a new issue, if there are no new costumes a large portion of us (the players) are going to be pissed.
Also as much as I am willing to pay for boosters (have them all) I really don't want to see all of the new costumes come in the form of boosters.
I may not always have time for new content (TFs, missions, and the like), but I do tend to have time to play with costumes. So new costumes really are content for those of us that are short on time, but still want to enjoy the game.
I am not a fan of the carnie parts (for male toons, which is all I play), the mender costumes are cool, but the Clockwork in the i19 pics are just AMAZING. I want those parts sooooo bad! -
BaBs will truly be missed if he is gone. This actually made me a bit sad. There are times that people just want to move on. If that is the case, I hope you find what will make you happy.

Quote:The fact that you were even willing to step into this thread speaks highly of you!Just for the record, what we've said publically is that the team has refocused and redoubled efforts on taking npc groups and creating commensurate player costume parts whenever technically possible (See: Resistance, Clockwork, and PPD). You'll see more of this in the future as well.
Converting older parts is certainly POSSIBLE, but it's not something we've commited to.
There are a few older parts I would really like to see make into the player's hands. The sash has been requested for years, and is at the fore front. Past that it is pretty much the PPD hard suit, and then the newer stuff.
There are still some Clock work parts we don't have, as the i19 shots show. I really want some of those, and more of the PPD costumes than what we got. If that is the plan, that is not such a bad thing.
I do think it needs to be remembered that there are some players that really want those old options just as much as they want newly made options. -
I am not ticked that they didn't proliferate this issue, I just don't want them to forget about it in the future.
-
So I love the features announced in i19, but like many others I want to know one thing.
Are there any new costumes?
I look at David's posts over the past few months, and I had hope, not seeing costumes listed in the features makes me sad though.
I hope to see the old NPC costumes David spoke of, that Kheldian sash is much needed on many of my characters!
What costumes do you hope to see, if anything?
