Thanks to the Hollows changes, I recently did the entire series of contacts in there on my Stone/Stone Tanker. Wincott, Flux, Julius and the Mystic guy. I grabbed some random people just so they could see Atta's caves instead of Yet Another Radio Mission.

Nice for the people who can buy six or twelve months. Some of us have no option but two. And no option for in game store transactions (Unless you borrow someone elses card, apply it to your game account, buy the slots in game, cancel that card being attached to your bank, pay the person who owns the card the money.)

I fall firmly on the side of Syracuse, Ravenswing and others when it comes to my opinion on this. I can't seem to get the words out to put my PoV across in a correct fashion, but I still find the game challenging, and I'm pretty much normally on Heroic Mode. Does this mean I'm doing it wrong?

Probably.

But I do have fun still. Sure, introduce optional difficulty settings for those who want them, but I don't think bringing back the old level of debt will help (Especially with how it interacts with Patrol XP. Get defeated by say a purple outside just after lgging on and there goes a chunk of that XP bonus you logged off to save.)

ED and the GDN made the game harder. The Hollows change made the zone less annoying, especially since the days of huge Hollows teams and people around Wincott are over. Temp Travel powers mean that long slog between contacts and mission doors isn't quite as tedious, as when you come down to matters there isn't really much that draws you into the game world.

Defiant 2.0 gives us more use and versatility rather than going masochistic on ourselves to become a redlining wet paper tissue of death, who's completely useless if caught without a break free when mezzed and gives you a reliable, steady but -lesser- damage boost instead of the all or nothing from Defiance v1.

Also, the XP curve smoothing removed the damn awful 35-40 crunch point, where you would grind to a crawl and seem to have to climb up from 1-35 again just to get those levels. Reminded me of Ragnarok Online, where to get from level 98 to level 99 took the same experience as to get from level 1 to level 96.

Fun, interesting mission ideas with a great theme, and heroes in comics do sometimes find themselves in these kinds of situations.

Except for being able to use Single Shoulder capes at level 1 once you get the vet reward, and as you mention the Combat Aura change, so it's not 'how it's always been' and having to wait till level 30 to use something you can get at level 1 is a little silly.

The projector built into the podium stand flicked into life, a graphical display showing song times, listings and the playlist in general appearing to project on the white screen behind the stage. The next song listed was a nice slow dancing song, Amy's pick, some rock after that, then Horizon's song, followed by another slow dance. Soon more students names began appearing to song titles as they appeared in the schedule.

"Happy?" BODICIA displayed at the bottom of the screen. "The micromanagment I have to do to keep you happy... it is a good job I am a loving, benevolent friend of humanity" She said. For a brief moment, the armed defences in the ceiling opened up, weaponry barrels sticking out before retracting.

Jacob and Valeria were at the buffet table, the tall, dark skined cryokinetic busy browsing the selection as Valeria talked to some of the younger students, down to grab food and dash back off upstairs. From one of the elevators, a pair of Vigilants brought out a tray carrying a large ice sculpture of Unity Plaza, the three towers situated around the courtyard with the ice christmas tree standing tall.

With a slight tap and a point, Jacob directed his date's attention to his handywork, her face lighting up as she saw it brought to the center buffet table.

Ryan said a quick word to Robert, kissing his cheek before he blurred over to the staircase, the young man having a determined look on his face as he tapped into the tower's security grid to locate Annette and Claudia.

"And possibly more incoming." Juan said, his third eye flickering in Leo and Gemini's direction.

"Guess it's damage control time then." Isaac said, before turning to grin and wave at the pair. "Leo! Great to see you, sorry about the delays so far, but me, Juan and Sophie have been dealing with exams and coursework. Mina too of course, but I don't think she's staked a claim on you. Yet."

"Isaac-kun!" Mina pouted, before smiling to the pair.

The music dipped down a second, BODICIA's voice coming over the sound systems. "We -are- taking requests, so feel free to do something more productive than snipe at the choice of music. We do have a wide range of tastes to accomodate, so I do so apologise if obscure band in niche genre X are not in the playlists." She said, before the music rose up again, the track having finished and switched to Lady GaGa's 'Let's Dance'

Jamie tapped his hand on Joanna's. "Umm... my arm kinda needs blood, y'know." He said, his slightly altered physiology from the magic that powered him making his skin tougher, but still, she -was- gripping it tightly. "Food sounds great, I mean... uh... was that a hand coming out from under the table to grab chicken?" He pointed, a curious look on his face.

Ryan was to one side of the stage with Robert and a fair sized group of students, the young man grinning away as he gave them some quick dance pointers. The leader of the New Vigilants could often be found in the training rooms, but it wasn't always his powers he was working on to the music. Robert was trying to join in, but laughing too much from some of the movements he failed to make.

Minako was pressed against Juan, swaying her hips against him as she moved to the music, his arms around her waist. The young man was smiling, but every so often he looked over in the direction of Leo and Claudia. His eyes flickered briefly with a purple light, and almost a moment after Isaac's would flicker back with that red glow they sometimes took on.

Sophie peered over Isaac's shoulder from where she was pressed against him in a dancing hug, waving Cara over with a smile.

Jackal poked his head under the table, his nose twitching. The canine feral mutant grinned at Tabby, his mouth filled with sharp teeth. "Tabs, whatcho doing under here?" He said, a curious growl at the back of his throat as he dropped to his haunches. The disadvantage with wearing a suit was the fact that he shed his own fur onto it. A hand shot up to grab some of the chicken legs from the table before crawling under, gnawing away at one.

Fusebox peered up at Yoko. "Dance, hun?" She said, offering a hand. She grinned a little as she noticed Lo-Fi Boy and his sister, Hi-Fi Girl dragging Sleight and Arcsnap to the dancefloor. "And seems the night's going well!"

The theme for the Unity Vigil would be Machinae Supremacy's 'Machinae Prime', but the song isn't on YouTube. Dang.

Zorielle Rolando's theme is Yoko Kanno - The Snow Princess, while Zortel's theme is Machinae Supremacy - Dreadnaught.

Alraune's theme is Sophie Ellis Bextor - Take Me Home, which is not only fitting, but Bextor is the only person I know of who could even come close to playing Dinah.

Fusebox would have either Pornophonique - Take me to the Bonus Level or Machinae Supremacy - Player One.

Number Nine has only one definitive choice, Scott Matthew - Lithium Flower. The GITS: SAC OST gives us marvellous things.

He wondered absently whether Annette had any tips on ducking emotional attachments and his gaze wandered around to see where she had got to.

Hannah grinned as Yoko caught up to her, holding back a hand for her. "Buffet table? Ryan looks like he's about to make a speech, so could do with getting some food and drink in me, hun." She said, before leading her over.

Ryan tapped the microphone, clearing his throat a little and remembering to let Robert go and get off the stage. He used that time to make sure everyone at least had some of their attention on him before speaking.

"Well, good evening everyone." He said with a grin, taking the tinted glasses he was wearing off befor looking round the room. "I know you're all eager to get on with things, so I'll keep this short." He paused for dramatic effect, looking around the room.

"You guys look great. You girls look gorgeous. The food, well, I'm sure you're all enjoying that. Got a great range! Some stuff for the more adventurous of you, and more of the middle of the road stuff too."

"We'll have music soon, got a great range of songs from now and the nineties, and a few eighties classics too. Songs to dance to, songs to... flail about to, I don't know, not so big on that part, and of course, songs to slow dance to. I know some of us are -real- eager about that," he grinned, before pointing to himself, "And some of us are a bit nervous. We -do- have first aid staff on hand to deal with any trips, falls and broken toes. But we'd rather not."

"And finally? Last day of this term. You made it. Congrats. I'll see you about the tower during the holidays, no doubt, and you can still train and work out, but term starts again three weeks on Monday. This party's going to go on till 1, and even after you'll be able to chat, eat and just relax. You earned this break guys. All the staff here are proud of you... and y'know? We -really- hope you're proud of us. So let's take it away."

With that, the DJ started with Rhianna's 'Disturbia', music pumping out through the sound systems in the lobby, directed towards the main dance floor area to allow for talking without having to raise your voice -too- much.

He nodded over at Flashpoint, before looking back to Tabby. "So Tab-cat, what've you got planned for this evening?"

Valeria smiled warmly and offered the pair her hands. "It's nice to meet both of you. Jacob's told me all about you, Dane. Unbeatable at cards?"

"Cheatable." Lo-Fi Boy coughed as he wandered past, bringing a plate of food to his sister who was chatting away with some of the other students.

"Hmm? Oh, hai." Minako replied, slightly distractedly.

Juan's eyes were searching the room before he looked back to his partners. "It's nothing major, just something for me and Minako to keep an eye on."

"If you say so Babe, Princess." Isaac nodded, linking arms with Sophie.

Eyes and occasionally her jewellery crackling with lightning, Fusebox stepped out of the elevator, her bright blue hair done up and blue tinted glasses resting on the bridge of her nose. She was dressed in a slim, tight fitting black dress with a window showing off some of the upper part of her chest, no sleeves, and tan coloured tights on with stiletto knee high boots in black leather. Thick silver bangles adorned each wrist, and as it was a special occasion she had put on her sapphire and silver studded collar instead of the plain studded one she usually wore.

From the doors, dressed rather finely in an expensive suit, Robert Judge quickly made his way through the crowd and up to the stage where Ryan was, the pair talking quietly to each other as they embraced.

"Guess I better get things started soon..." Ryan remarked, glancing over the lobby at the amassed students.

"Don't let me keep you from your duties, Ryan." Robert remarked, before musing for a moment and drawing him in by the arm for a kiss. "Well... maybe just for a moment."

Jamie smiled to Joanna, taking a moment to look her over too. "You look... wow, Joanna. The dress really suits you, and that is so your colour." He said, before taking her wrist to put the corsage on. "I um... asked Dinah for some help with these, she got the flowers for us..."

Sophie grinned. "It's-" She stoppped as one of the Vigilants, a rather elderly looking woman with glasses, peered over at her with a raised eyebrow. "I'll tell you later. Enjoy! Going to go and grab Isaac now." She said, grabbing her plate befor hurrying off.

Valeria nodded. "That's right, pretty much normal as can be. I think it's amazing how you can go out there without any abilities like Jacob's and just... you know." She smiled, resting her head against Jacob's arm.

"It is impressive." Jacob admitted. "And it's true. Without me she'd have even more arguments on her hand. Nice to be useful."

Alex 'Rho' Knight looked at Tabby for a long moment, working through the Tabby-English translation algorithms. "... Uh... oh! It's..." Alex cut off and scratched his head.

"It's so you don't get mouse on your fingers, Tab-cat." Lyrical Cyclone added. "The pastry isn't as messy."

"... What Cyke said." Alex said, before handing over the little cake to him.

"I -love- a beneficial exchange of services for goods." Ron grinned.

"And Isaac's." Sophie added, Mina nodding.

"It's usually confusing for others, but... well, you get used to it." Mina said, before glancing back. "Uh oh, I better go and break the boys up." She sighed, watching the pair cuddling up. "We've got the first dance after all, when Ryan gets this started."

With a smile to Cara, she gave Sophie a quick hug before moving off to distract the men.

Sophie gave Cara a big smile. "Hey, always time to meet someone during the night, and come chat with us if you get lonely. Not like you'll be a third wheel." She said, before quickly adjusting one of her safety pins. "Took both boys ten minutes to get me into this thing, having to do each pin up indivudally..."

Mina bowed her head. "I'm Minako Nishzumi, hajimemashite." She said before smiling. Sophie grinned and set her plate down before putting her arms round Mina's shoulders. "Mina's Juan's fiancee. But more importantly, she's my girlfriend." Sophie nodded, before starting to playfully nibble at Mina's head.

"Iie, stop it Sophie-chan! I'm not for eating, and you're not Jane-chan. No brains here!" She said with a grin, before shaking Cara's hand. "It's nice to meet you. I help with the art classes here sometimes."

Rho blinked as Tabby lept past him to grab one of the sausage rolls from the table, the young man shaking his head a little. "Sometimes I wonder why I'm at this place." He pondered out loud, before phasing a hand through the Lyrical Cyclone to grab the french fancy cake he was after. "Oh, that's right."

"Hey, not cool, man." Ron gritted his teeth, hating the sight of an arm coming through his stomach. "And I was going for that first!"

"Early bird, Cyke. Early bird." Rho laughed.

Quickfrost nodded. He did that an awful lot. "Annette, evening. Not brought my centerpiece for the buffet out yet." He noted, before letting Annette talk to his date.

"Hey, I'm Valeria." She said with a slight Puerto Rican accent. "Great to meet you, Jacob's mentioned you when talking about this place. It's certainly something!" She smiled. She was dressed in a dark blue dress that came down to her knees, with slight sparkles worked into the material, and her hair was curled and pinned up.

That's enough for them to be in competition. Non fantasy MMO's are a niche corner of the MMO market, which means there's more competition in between them.

Sophie's eyes glowed brightly behind her glasses. "You're worse than Isaac." She grinned. "No, really. He's much better at stoking my furnace. Or reactor."

"Sophie." BODICIA remarked from one of the Vigilants, quite reprimandingly.

"Sorry!" Sophie apologised, before grinning to Cara. "Hey Cara! Looking great, where'd you get the dress from?"

"Chaperone duty does not usually include reducing the young women to blushing, Richard." BODICIA's voice remarked from one of the Vigilants, pouring some punch for Claudia. The Vigilants were all instructed to keep a careful eye on the punchbowl. Spiked punch was not on the cards for tonight.

Quickfrost glanced over to his teammates, Diana and Dane, and in his usual exuberance of social interaction just gave a slight nod. Tactically, he clearly saw just what Diana was trying to do. Handling it was a different matter though. Turning back to the woman he brought with him, he began to chat about small talk, mulling over just what do to.

"Watch out for the blond." Juan whispered into Isaac's ear, slipping an arm around his back. Sophie and Mina were still at the buffet, letting the two men have a brief moment of time together.

"The one in white? Got you, Babe." Isaac nodded, before brushing a stray lock of Juan's dark purple-black hair out of his face.

"Good, she's psionic, manipulative. I know Ryan would rather not have an incident." Juan saud, before kissing Isaac lightly on the cheek.

"Hey, at least you've got me on my best behaviour." Isaac grinned, drawing him in for a proper kiss.
