I prefer Murphy's older and nastier brother, Sod.
[/ QUOTE ]
Being un-British I had to look that up, but it's basically the same law!
You lot just simplified Finagle's Law just so you can say sod a lot didn't you?
Sod's Law is however WAY more funny to see happen to others obviously -

I assume its the fluffy bit as pom poms are normally a handle like stick with a lot of stremery bits at the end i assume that a single headed pom pom only has streamery bits at one end while a double headed one has it at both end. Or it could be some kind of weird sexual innuendo
[/ QUOTE ]
Now what could possibly be innuendoish about pom poms?
Oh disregard my earlier post about what's in between them (usually not a stick)... -
I'm usually too far immersed with the lovely young lady in between the pom poms to notice how many heads the pom poms have.. And yeah.. what IS the head of a pom pom?
-
On a whoooooole different note, as I was just scrolling through oodles of text and seeing the locations people put up (or not..) I started wondering about something.. Not locations, but postcounts.
I'm sure someone has mentioned it, which probably means I'm not that interested to have spotted it first time around, but everyone will lose theirs in the migration I'm sure?
Murphy's by the way is fun when he comes to visit OTHERS that do stuff unrelated to me. Then I like to sit back and watch a bit -

I don't think War Witch and Ghost Widow could be stood there staring at each other without coming to blows
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah but DJ Zero wouldn't let them so the most they'd come to is some harsh words.
Still, Pocket D Zone event right there.
"Babbage spotted in Boomtown"
"Ghost Ship sighted in Independance Port"
"Ghost Widow and War Witch are yelling at each other in Pocket D... again"
[/ QUOTE ]
Might be me, but I'd much more like it if the message would be along the lines of:
"Ghost Widow and War Witch are engaged in mud wrestling in Pocket D... Again" -
Sort of like Murphy's...
He is always there when you don't need him isn't he? The git -

I can send you a pity PM if you like?
[/ QUOTE ]
God no lol
It's sorta nice not having to worry over that with all other means of people contacting me throughout life as is..
There's a reason I am ALWAYS on invisible on MSN for instance too. I just don't enjoy the random 'you there? you there? you there?' when I get home when people know fully well I work during the day..
Oh at work they do hate me by the way, but that's because I ask a lot of questions when someone [censored] up security guidelines -

WoW has been polished till it gleams.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which I guess kinda shows that old saying can't be true all the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
What, doing something completely and well pays dividends and lets you rule the world?
I don't like the gameplay of WoW but at least they polish things properly and don't release a feature half-done to finish off later (unlike issues 13, 14, 15 and what looks like 16).
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that the Mythbusters have proven that is possible to do so, provided you add water and rub a lot..
But true, last issues here have needed backmaintenance. But.. WoW is very good in downloading stuff in the background. That shows when you go for a trial account. It just lets you login and then downloads content as you go. Who's to say that they do not use that same method for fixing their own halfbaked not-so-shiny because too little water added and rubbage dung? -

Or, like me, you just don't ever go to the page where they are stored...
Seriously, I think I only once have seen that page.. When I created my account.

If you got one, you get a little blinky icon at the top of the screen that stays there until you go to that screen and read the thing.

Crud..
that must mean that people do hate me after all -

First of we seem to be going of on a bit of a tangent and i do agree that CoX having even a fraction of the marketing that WoW has had would be lovely cant recall the last time tho it appeared quite regularly in PC zone (or was it gamer) at one point and yes I've seen the odd banner in the past.
But back to why i posted in reply to SinergyX whats wrong with holding WoW up as a standard in MMOs its done a lot of good for MMOs in general and brought them to a wider audience anything that helps brake the idea that video games are something that only children and geeks take part in is a good thing in my view.
and now moving things along whats wrong with using CoX as it stands the now as a comparison for CO.
CoX is COs closest competitor (and vice versa) It seems only right that CO should at least try to match CoX no one in there right mind is going to compare CoX 5 years ago to Co now when it comes to purchasing and reviewing the game.
and if for some bazaar reason your going to base your purchase on a 5 year age gap you have to work it the other way as well as CoX is going to just stop developing so by the time CO makes up its 5 years content CoX is also going to be a further 5 years down the line (yes i believe it will exist 5 years from now)
[/ QUOTE ]
Holding up WoW as a standard is not a wrong thing to do, clearly it has proven that Blizzard knows what people like and how they are triggered to go and try their game. They had the initial playerbase already sorted before teh game ever even started, namely the VAST playerbase of the Warcraft games.
That said, I have at several times attempted to see though the horrendous characters and ultimately limited costume options (as everyone more or less looks the same..) and never got through it any further than maybe two or three nights after just getting irritated. Because there is one thing that I do feel that it misses and that's character diversification. Every Orc is dressed like the one next to him, because it's the 'uberest'. Still, they market well, there is no denying that and people do like the genre. It certainly generated a wider spread of awareness. Also to gaming addiction, but that was there before WoW...
As for the question what's wrong with with comparing CoX now to CO 'Soon', there's nothing wrong there.
CoH (there was no CoV) then and CoX now are way different from eachother in many respects. I remember just after launch making a blaster and working my nuts off to get to the fabled point of grabbing a travelpower! I was so happy I could fly! Nevermind dropping out of the air a zillion times while blasting away and draining endurance like squeezing a sponge, but I had fun. And then the content eventually ran dry(ish) for me, since I was quite solo oriented (time restrictions abound back then) and I left for a bit to come back with CoV coming out. I had missed a couple things in between.. quite a few things actually, so a new game for me, both hero side and now vill side too! First ever 50 was a completely solo'd MM with zombs. Took me well over 2 years lol
CO will start off as that game from 5 years ago. It will be great at first, but in a short time, the base content will start to wear thin for a lot of people used to established MMO's. If (When) CO survives that first wave, and content gets added and bugs fixed and and and.. eventually CoX will have competition on their hands, but for now, I'm not too worried.
For me it's a bit like the next version of Windows. I'm not touching it with a ten foot pole if it's not had it's first major fix..
The 5 year gap is that, 5 years. Nearly 5 years before that, I played Anarchy Online. If a new sci-fi in that style comes out now, it will have hell on its hands contentwise. There have been so many additions to AO in that time, no new game will compete with it other than through a newer engine with better graphics. But looks aren't content as far as I remember..
And as AO still stands after all that time.. yeah, I do believe that CoX might make ten years as well. But how many of us will then still be in this game? -

You do know that Avatea I think has more or less warned anyone that mentioning the the flowing strands of kerotine is more or less hazardous these days?
Three times huh? I thought it you had to say the name 5 times in a row.. or was that someone else? -

I think she's east coast, or at least EST timezone, as she only seems to have about 5 hours difference...
[/ QUOTE ]She'll be on shortly then -
No not neutral, it was merely a comparison with in my case Anarchy Online where you had two sides to the coin (Clans and Omni) and the rim of the coin were the neutrals (which was basically all the room they had as well without getting killed by either side..)
Starting in Praetoria however could be considered starting grey.
Where vills are black, heroes are white, those starting in Pratoria are grey and their shades of grey eventually decide which 'side' they flip to on the regular CoX sides. So not so much neutral, but morally grey.. -
That was exactly what I was thinking, the insane annoyance it would bring..
I was in a zone the other day and someone shouted "prepare to be frerigerated!" (no typo there!)
I'd go bonkers if something like that would get shouted every other power.. No thanks, I'd rather have 'FREEM!' shoot across the screen if it comes to that.. -
If you get to choose side three, it will be like the old days for me, back in Anarchy Online
Start as a neutral, eventually decide on a side and change. Although there you would just buy sort of a greencard type thing.. So that was different. But would be really nice to actually be able to start in Praetoria, HOWEVER...
Does this expansion then come with an added 5 characterslots as well? I don't want to go deleteing characters obviously just to start in Praetoria -

Those lovely ladies besides that ugly baby you mean?
No, it's cute (dang.. being daddy makes one soft to these baby pics lol) -
This is very true, I believe that Damage Resistance isn't in there either. It is in training, it is in single origin. Just not in dual.
In SO the endurance ones have another name as well, they're right under Recharge Reduction in the list, but can't get the name out at the moment.
It's been like that for a looong time now.. Well, since MA basically -

But that wouldn't solve the problem of unwanted buffs - there should be an option to turn them all off as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't this thread about the colours and not about wanting it or not?
I just want to be able to NOT receive bright pink sound aura coupled with minty green ice and maybe a hint of blue-ish fire shields..
Want the buffs, but the colors.. noooo thankyouverymuchly -
[ QUOTE ]
To further the refusal idea, why not have selectable options in the menu giving: Refuse All buffs, Accept all buffs, Accept team member buffs only etc..
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be perfect in many aspects of the game, but during MS raids.. buff meh silly lol -
[ QUOTE ]
But doesn't WoW have some sort of buff refusal option? How does that work?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ehr..
damned if I know, I'd have to play WoW for that I suppose? -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, a "refuse all buffs" option in the menu then
[/ QUOTE ]
Noooo.. that would be silly..
I wouldn't not want buffage.. Just make it so one can enable or disable custom colors on buff effects (personal) like when zooming in on yourself where you can dispell the effects. -

Which makes me wonder about buff powers, if someone buffs you with a power that creates an aura or armour will you be subjected to their choice of power colouring? If that's the case I would love a way for players to be able to shift+right-click a buff power icon to deactivate it if they want to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very good question to which we hopefully will get an answer-and in fact they should make a way to opt out from horrible buff colour schemes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or an option to totally avoid a buff - like you get a promt box, and say yes or no to the buff.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh god no..
Anything but that.. Imagine every time someone casts SB, AM, whatever, you have to do the clickety..
Better give an option in the menu that suppresses the custom buffcolors or something.
