I dunno, being on fire has some negative side effects.
You can't go to the bar, because you're a fire hazard.
You can't take the elevator, because it shuts off in case of fire.
States passed that law a couple years back, so you can't be found within 10 metres of any dumpster.

Impossible to keep an office job.
Great at parties, untill one of the girls there starts hitting on you, you get all hot, then BOOM!
Yeah, also, there's the "Flamer" jokes that never end.
  2. Acanous began pacing inside the ATC, trying to think up a strategy for dealing with the fallout that this Arachnos civil war would cause.
He was starting to form an idea when a flitting shadow caught his eye.
More than a little paranoid about possible Martial-Law, Acanous looked out the window, expecting Arachnos strike craft. Instead, he cought sight of a black-winged figure zipping ahead of the ATC.

    "We got company!"
  3. On the ATC, Acanous stopped, a buzzing in his ear widening his eyes.

    ------------------ULTRA base, Warburg---------------------
the brain of the man that used to be Doctor Ludwig Von Auger sat in a tank surrounded by monitors, lab equiptment, and the scrapped cybernetic body of Angus, the remnants of which were laid out on a lab table, being repaired slowly by robotic fabricators.
The Doctor monitored over 1000 channels, his psionic powers assisting to ensure he was not detected. While it took him a while to crack new codes, the alert that had gone out over a broad spectrum did not pass him by.
Inside his digital domain, he copied the alert, and sent it to all ULTRA operatives currently on active status, along with the message "Ve haff a Problem."

    ----------ATC, Steel Canyon---------------
    Acanous shook his head slowly.
"Has the whole world gone to hell today?"
  4. Looking up, Acanous saw something he wasn't sure was real, and had to do a quick double take as the flying creature zipped off westward.
"Holy crap, was that Bladewing?" he said aloud, to no-one in particular.
"Wasn't expecting him... If Wing's here, and E-X.... How fast can that ATC of yours go?" he asked, rounding on the guy with the hoverwheels.
He hopped back into the ATC in one smooth motion, pointing towards Eden.
    "Follow that Draconian!"
  5. (Well you DO have 2 seperate hero groups converging on you.
    We should form a team!)
  6. Palladium took a hit? I thought they were immune to that, being of the "Not-D20" school.
Y'know, and with all the Palladium pushbacks, they have enough material that's propably finished and just waiting to go to press to keep them in the green for 20 years or so >.>

High hopes for the Eden Studios CoHRPG. If it ever comes out, I'll propably have the cash to buy it!
  7. Hanging out the side of the ATC, Acanous quickly dismounted as it came to a rest. His cape billowing behind him with the ATC's exhaust, he strode forward slowly, trying to find purchase on fragmented concrete and broken glass.

Looking around for possible hostiles, he scanned the area slowly, trying not to miss anything in the chaotic clutter.
Satisfied, he gave an OK signal back to the ATC, and proceeded up the hill of rubbish.
  8. Acanous hurdled over floating debris towards Ruladak, watching as the others assaulted the aspect.
"Not gonna make it to him in time at this rate."
Picking a small, glowing green shard from his pack, Acanous tossed it towards the giant.
Where it landed, green smoke began pouring forth, vitalic goo seeping from the crystal as a giant green behemoth sprouted from the stone.
Bits of stone and bone floated within the ooze, a vaguely humanoid skull floating near the monster's 'head'. Two yellow lights beamed eerily from the sockets, taking in Ruladak.

The Shivan Smasher wasted little time, shooting a radioactive beam from it's 'eyes' at Ruladak.

    Acanous kept on moving.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
"So then," the armored man who seemed to be in command of this fire team inquired of Acanous, "couldn't help noticing your friend and you throwing around n-dimensional energies earlier. That tied to that sword of yours...?"

    [/ QUOTE ]
    "Sort of." Acanous said cautiously.
"It's really a two-part thing. Without the proper training, even touching the blade could be disasterous."
He double-checked the locks on the mirrored sheath almost absentmindedly as he spoke, ensuring that the Saber was safely secured.

"Previous attempts at stealing it from me have met with the worst kind of end."
  10. ((Well. It would seem this thread was never deleted. Nor was it moved to the RP room. Thusly, to bring it back to the attention of those who don't go gravedigging,
    [u]NECROPOST!!![u]))
  11. Holy energy coursed through him, restoring lost flesh and blood and rejuvenating the mind better than a hot shower and a good night's sleep.
Acanous had to restrain himself from trying to take more of that energy, from reaching towards it's source- the source of all energy and matter. Like a dying man in the desert offered a drop of water, some primal instinct wanted to dive headfirst into the infinate ocean, despite the knowledge that such contact would surely annihilate him.

Opening his eyes, and finding himself restored, Acanous smiled.
    "Thanks, I needed that."
Looking to the newcomer, he continued "Well, let's be going, then. If E-X is asploding, there's something mighty powerfull over there, or at least there was..."

Thinking to himself, Acanous followed this powersuited stranger towards his APC.
  12. "Mental boom?"
Acanous streightened, trying to at least put on a facade of being fine- the repeated beatings he'd gotten today really did take a toll, mentally as well as physically. Manipulating the Gate was no easy task, even for one trained at it through lifetimes. Sometimes, keeping the physical pain was better than trying to fix it with Gate tech.
    Most times, actually.

"Psionics are out of my bailwick. Emergence events, those are my demnences."
Wasn't even aware there was ONE mental wave, much less Two... 'course, if they occurred while I was in the Gate, they propably would have just passed around me without actually touching.

He looked at Target. "I recognised some of that energy, I've felt it's like before, years ago in the Shadow Shard."

Glancing at Anthius, he continued "If it's who and what I think it is, we'd best get to that one first, make sure everything is still relatively ok, then we can deal with these Mental waves."

Acanous leaned against some of the cooling rubble, his gauntleted hand rubbing his temples.
"With such a rent in the fabric of reality, I can't trust in the Gate to 'port us there. I'll be stuck behind a desk for a week before I can get the math down again. We're gonna have to hoof it.
Unless someone has a better idea?"

((OOC Note: Acanous needs 11 "Anchor" Variable equasions to teleport to pretty much anywhere at any time. He does have a few locations "Stored" that he's able to port to no matter where or when he is [the ULTRA base in Warburg, his private sanctum "Haven", and the hero base in Steel Canyon.]
This works because the Saber actually tracks it's own location like a multiversal GPS.))
  13. "Heh, the only one that really mattered, the BIG one."

Acanous looked the newcomer up and down, a twinge in his ribs reminding him that he wasn't exactly in shape for another fight.
"So who'se this Dark Dragon? I don't recognise the name."
  14. Acanous phased back into 4-dimensional space, still feeling rather horrid.
He looked at Anthius, then at Target.
"Well, I guess we'd better find the source of that blast."
  15. Acanous drew a ragged breath, sealing a nearby rupture and restoring natural order with the Gatesaber, while still feeling rather poor.
"Well I suppose what's left of me would be a friend, if you're who I think you are. Sorry about the abrupt 'porting, only way to save you at the time."
*Acanous gestured to the slagheap of molten cars, sky raider bits, and lingering energy bits*
  16. Wiping his mouth on his right gauntletted fist, Acanous stood most of the way up.
haddn't even realised I had fallen
"Yeah well, some of us got hit by a bigass flux of chaos-vortex. I'll look better when I have a shower, and maybe something to drink."

Turning around, Acanous surveyed the damage to the streets and people. Absentmindedly, he flicked Target back into Normal space, if you could still call it "Normal". Small rips had begun to form, thin spaces between "Veils". Acanous had some cleaning up to do, there was something on the other side of this particular veil, it was Hungry, and it wanted in.
  17. ((I don't know enough of Anth's powers to get him out of such a situation. Really. I've RP'd with the guy for years, and while he has a few options available, I'm not sure what he'd actually do in such a situation >.>
He's been in situations like that before, but it's usually something Ac did, not an enemy version. Speaking on that, there should be a "Phase shift other" power targettable on Allies.))
  18. villains and heroes got the exact same content additions in i11. I'm sick of "villains" saying they got nothing. Heroes and villains got the same stuff. Saying that Heroes got it alone, and villains only got a footnote is ridiculous. It could be said the other way, that Heroes got nothing, Villains got Oroboros, andthey tacked it on to Heroes because they already had the code.

Some of us play both games, and have 50's on both sides. These are the people who ask for merged markets.
These and the people who actually understand economics.

    Anyhow, TLDR Version:
    In before thread locked!
    or
    Hi B_I!
  19. ((Whoa, actual astronomy in RP? Crazy ))
  20. Through all the dimensions Acanous was existing in, he saw the sky light up in a blue flare.
His experience as one of the Keepers of Reality, as well as prior contact with Energon-X led him to assume what would happen next.

Cloaked in such an advanced form of the Gate as he was, he knew he could take the wave of extraverse, but small chance that the Defender could.
Forgetting about the robots- they weren't human, and could be dealt with if their shielding allowed them to survive this-
Acanous dove towards Target, breaking one of his own rules, and pulling him into extradimensional space.
I hope that boy's psyche can take some strein..

He looked up at Jake, shouting as loudly as he could "GET OUT OF HERE!"

Then the wave hit him, like a tree trunk to the gut. Even shielded by layers of extra reality, it still packed a whollop hard enough to have him puking blood.
His eyes widened in astonishment as he Felt different aspects, rules and time/space coordinates distort, merge, then rip apart.
I'm gonna have quite the mess to clean up...

    ---------------------------------------------------------
Anthius had been irritated at being unable to get out of this bubble. Sitting there thinking about it while the fortress loomed ever nearer, he got a new idea. He was about to act on it when a wave of energy as powerfull as any demon he'd ever fought washed over the area.
Blinking, he expected to be recalled back to Heaven, but instead watched as the energy hit the field surrounding him, washed over, and continued on.
He breathed a sigh of relief. Pain, while tolerable, was still moderately unpleasent, especially if it served no purpose.
Then the field began to flicker and distort, the blast of energy seeming to hit in dimensions outside the norm...
Anthius caught the tail-end of the blast, and was sent hurtling backwards as the field collapsed around him.
  21. Acanous shook his head a little as his blows simply glanced off of the robot's shielding. There was just no helping it, he was going to have to go outside the box on this one.

He shifted inside his field, moving in dimensions that were strange and unpredictable, even to him. Especially to him.
The Gate was his only anchor, the only thing that kept him from being swept away upon the astral tides. Taking a breath and holding it, he looked at the situation from a different viewpoint- one from the stance of someone existing in 11th dimensional space, and thoroughly aware of it.

The robot's sensors would be picking him up again, although there was a strange resonance that he was emitting, almost as though he was more REAL than the surrounding area.

Acanous knew that there'd be no way for him to stop anything the bots threw at him now, but the active layer of multispace that he occupied would at least still disperse any incoming damage for so long as it held.
Meanwhile, he could use this 11th dimensional viewpoint to attack his opponents from directions they propably diddn't even know existed, and only one society he had ever encountered had created shields that could encompass 11 dimensions at once.
    (Popped Gaes.)

His eyes wide, taking in more than enough to overwhelm a common man, he directed his energies again at the robots, summoning dark tenticals of nether-energies to attack W0-07, trying to rip the robot apart.
