In hindsight I sorta feel dense for not using [Placate] on Reichsman when he was following me into the console room. Granted, Nericus shows how they may not be needed at all in a good situation but that would have certainly helped then.

Quote:Markets would stay separate. Vigilantes would use blueside markets and Rogues would use redside markets. Side switching allows you to be a gun runner.Hmm, I don't recall ever seeing anything mentioning how the markets would be handled with the whole side switching stuff...
However, many people expressed a dislike of the idea so it's possible that the devs might have taken it back and opted to merge them. -
While I'm probably dead wrong, I have to wonder if due to The Television's recent comment, the devs may be merging the markets.

In a lot of ways I see the base situation like a starving man and a master chef. The chef is like, "I already have other orders but if you wait a while I'll fix you a seven course meal". The starving man feels that, "That's great and all but I've been hungry for a while. Can't I just get a sandwich?" While base builders understand that larger changes will take a while, it gets frustrating that they can't get boring grey Arachnos box #5 added to the list of objects in the meantime or other "easy" additions of things that already exist in the game. Further more, it seems like their place in line is being skipped constantly.

While it wouldn't be possible until GR, wouldn't the final mission of Barracuda SF be an excellent place for a Warshade with all of the massive ambushes?
-
Probably won't be on Valentines itself for that reason. You actually might work best for the "jealous boyfriend hero" since in theory all you need is a couple of text macros and a health dose of scrapper lock since he ONLY shows up in the pvp zones to smash faces (not counting an NPC copy of him in AE). Plus, I've been sticking my head into the pvp zones seeking out some free agents for attacks. It'll be like I'm the Director from Left 4 Dead :P

Played through Night Music a second time solo since the previous time was in a group. The /elec enemies in Mission 2 ARE quite nasty. While I like the concept of an endurance drain enemy, instead of a slow sap it's a huge crash on an enemy that's not one per spawn. Might have to change either the primary or secondary there. There's also a more subtle problem that's not noted. On a large group, having enemies with auras/capes on an outdoor map can cause huge lag on some computers. Either removing the aura or only having it on a group that shows up less (bosses, EBs, etc) is usually the best remedy there.
Everything else seemed pretty balanced and I enjoyed the story. Might want to do a little formatting on the misson objective but that's not a huge requirement. -
AE had a weird spike today that shut it down on some servers and reset things on others. The unlockable reset is completely brand new.

Quote:That sounds like a good idea. I think the Tsoo are among the best designed enemy groups in the game so giving the Warriors that design sense would be great.OR, probably better, you can design them like the Tsoo, with lots of strangely powered bosses and a small selection of predictable minions
Really, these guys should be going toe-to-toe with the Tsoo for martial weirdness. With the Warriors basing their powers on artifacts and "gifts from the gods" in contrast to the Tsoo bosses that learn strange, mystical arts.
Quote:I kinda like the Goldbrickers. As for the Family, I've seen some nice ideas in the Suggestions forums on how to buff them for higher levels. Personally, I'd have more Superstrength types due to their 'Dine usage, and have them start using more high tech weapons that they've "acquired". Being criminals, it would be thematic for higher level Family to be armed with a variety of weapons stolen from other factions.
"Hey, hero! Check out my new toy!"

Quote:I have a feeling King Midas has at least a small amount of knowledge about the Coming Storm. The way the Goldbrickers constantly mention Midas wants them to get information and that something big is coming would hint that. It's a shame Midas doesn't physically show up anywhere in the game though there is at least one arc/Flashback about him.I keep thinking there some gated Goldbricker content somewhere that I'm just missing. There's not, but i can't help but think there's some reason for them to exist.
I say +1 to adding more Wyvern and Legacy Chain. Since "Wyvern cheats" and Legacy Chain has magic, they have much more room for some unique powersets. I'd also saying adding a few more to the Paragon Hero and Rogue Island Villain groups would be nice for papers/scanners and the followup Mayhem/Safeguard.
In some ways I'd say add more to the Rogue Island Police. PPD is so unique and varied while RIP is essentially the same from 1-40 and they have no outside presence past Mercy despite canonically having reason to be "ritzy" places like Villa Requin and Jackpot. -

Update: This will be this month's PvPEC event. As stated below, this just might crash and burn but it's worth a shot.
- Date: February 26
- Time: 10:00 PM EST
- Level range: 25+ to supposedly mimic a lvl 25-30 TF/SF
It's daring and may blow up in my face but after being inspired by a suggestion here, I'm working on a "PvP TF/SF" for some time around the Valentines holiday. It'll use some AE and RP for setup and some of the missions will require zone PvP. It will be two separate missions from different points of view. Zones will be Siren's Call and Bloody Bay so this can be "officially" designated as lvl 25-30. I know I'll need some "actors" at points and will need:
- A Bane, Huntsman, or Crab Spider. Unfortunately who ever gets this role is forced to be the genericed default look since I can't make real VEATs in MA and am forced to use the defaults. Essentially the Romeo of the stories. Redside
- A Kheldian. Type doesn't matter but you'll probably need one of the forms. I'll need them to make an outfit similar to the Hero Corp members and then send me the costume file so I can use that in the MA. Essentially the Juliet of the stories. Blueside
- Superhero in civilian clothes. AT doesn't matter and look is self explanatory. Blueside
- Superhero's wife. Same as above. Won't actually need to go into any of the PvP zones. Blueside
- Scientist. Generic scientist and AT doesn't matter. Blueside
- Informant 1. Gender and AT can vary though I'd assume something somewhat businesslike and shady. Redside
- Informant 2. Same as above. Won't actually need to go into any of the PvP zones. Redise
- Jealous boyfriend hero. I'm currently using a recolored Stalwart in AE as a placeholder but almost any non-spines/non-stone Scrapper, Tank, or Brute will do. Will most likely need one hero and one villain to fill this role at different times. One for each. Role probably taken. Need to clear some things up.
More or less finished with the hero version. Villain version shouldn't take long barring my slow typing speed. edit: Epic fail. Still need to finish the villain version. -
Now this contest intrigues me...

With me being new, I'm not that bothered by the lack of anything new for the event itself though I admit it wouldn't hurt for the vets. I'm much more concerned that we've gotten absolutely no patches whatsoever despite the fact that several things were explicitly found and noted as fixed and sent off to the "next build" in December but never actually hit. The more cynical thought process would be that GR is the ultimate excuse in "why fix content when we can cover it up with new shinies?" though I'm hoping I'm dead wrong in that aspect.
And why y'all hatin on Snaptooth? Don't you see that banner, he just needs some wuv. -
Quote:Unfortunately, it falls into the "they expect us to exploit it" problem. Most authors won't but the I14 fiasco gives the devs a somewhat reasonable cause to worry. In fact, Aeon drastically misunderstood the question/request when asked about spawn control. Most merely want more control over the spawn points that already exist while he thought it meant 100% exact control of placement.Kong, you're right, I'd love to make a map using the base editor stuff... they do have a variety of tilesets, etc. Though I have noticed bases with a lot of stuff in them tend to get laggy, so I wonder if they were worried about that. I would definitely pass that idea on, though. I actually haven't heard that voiced anywhere, and it's a good one.

-sigh- Guess I better figure out a way to solo Snaptooth with my lowbies...

Quote:It's not so much of playing AE content as simply trying something different. Despite all my comments, I don't hate the ITF at all and will admit that it's actually a well designed Task Force outside of the lagRomans and that's probably solveable by simply mixing in some that don't have capes. It's just that it's frustrating to contant hear calls for ITF and maybe a select few others, no one will try other TFs/SFs and then people will be complaining about being bored. I've been setting up PUG Strike Forces recently and there's a ton of players who don't even know the Ouroborus SFs exist.Personally I never really liked AE content for the same reason I never liked running Oroburos content; you're locked into it unable to do anything else for that time and your progress isn't saved to pick up on it later. Which is fine if you're on a scrapper that can tear through just about anything, not so much if you're on a defender.
And I must be pretty jacked up because for the most part I utterly suck at using my scrapper. Defenders may be slow but I don't see myself faceplanting constantly. And maybe that's just a problem with how I play since maybe I'm not reckless enough or my build is wrong but I personally get tired of hearing the whole "scrappers are teh invincible" thing when my experiences don't mirror that.
I...apologize for the threadjack. -
Wasn't trying to ignore you, was just a little busy.
Quote:Mission 3: Opening one of the chests was pretty long... I like it to be a little faster, but that's up to you. The mobs that came after that didn't give any rewards, either (gravity mobs... they phased me at first, too... just making sure you want that). So... I'm not sure about this mission. You have no rewards at all for the little fighting you do, and running around a blue cave looking for glowies isn't usually a good idea of fun, heh. Might be worth having more mobs and ambushes in there, just to liven it up a bit. I can see other people not liking this for the lack of rewards.
I like having glowies unlock other glowies, but I wonder if the "portal avatar" shouldn't ambush after you make the incantation. I had to hunt around for a glowie again after that, and it seemed like it should have been a reaction to that that brought the avatar out.
Some of the clickies are effectively a wrong choice and the timer is to reflect that and give the player a chance to break away instead of getting the ambush. So the ambush not giving rewards but not actually being that dangerous either is WAI. I may need to tweak things in the mission though it is purposely supposed to be a cooldown/quiet mission of sorts.
In other news, I've got a banner for Rider's Ribs Restaurant Rescue and am thus featured over at http://www.cohmissionreview.com for all would like to post their opinions of it over there as well. -
Worst case scenario, you should get the badge for killing 5th Column if you don't already have it yet...

Quote:Might not need a stoney since the /elec brute said he was likely to have a different brute available. But hey, moar smash is always good. Hoping for Sunday but gotta check schedule.we had a /dark mm and i was using a sonic/rad corr so we were doing fine on debuffs, we were having some issues with reichsman because one of our brutes was having issues (a /elec) and was DCing a lot, the other brute we had was a /EA, which they were basically getting 3 shotted by reichs and without a brute reichs just mauled the squishies.
next attempt we do on this ill bring my stone brute
Didn't it get raised to 35 in response to the noted difficulty? -
Quote:We did well against the 4 Patrons. Plus, I must admit that was cool looking cutscene when he gets released earlier (hey BABs can I have a cutscene? ). The recruitment thread with the team makeup is here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=207333Are you looking for advice on defeating Reichsman only or all the AVs too?

So...failed my first Barracuda Strike Force on Sunday.
Not really bitter since it's simply a part of life like taxes or puberty. My question is, what tips are there to get the final battle to go more smoothly? Also, I'm curious if some servers run it more than others.
