    Damn Quick Reply!

I just wanted in on the acronym fun.
  2. I'm still waiting for John Romero to make me his [censored]. And then to suck it down.

I'M STILL WAITING, JOHN ROMERO! I'M STILL WAAAAAAAIIIIIIIITTTTTTINNNNNG!

And yeah, DNF would be nice. Maybe I could play it on the Phantom.

The costume change emotes aren't even new animations... They're just existing animations with a bit of gfx added and a costume change after.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I bet you a unit of your favourite tipple that the Peacebringer/Warshade changes are just the reused animations from changing into Dwarf/Nova form.

    Can He Adapt Old Stuff?

The woman from Norwich, she say 'no. Not really.'
  5. Last night I went to bed thinking the event will just be a rehash of all the old invasions.

I log on today and find out that's pretty much the case, oh, add in a few Kronos Titan spawns and some Recluse's Victory AV spawns, I'm guessing.

...This is it? This is the event? Does it even have a -grounding- in the content or story, or is it just '... Hey, birthday invasions!' with no rhyme or reason or attempt to keep kayfabe?

A TF and SF involving the 5th Column. That's the return of them?

New costumes? Well that's something seeing as Jay and his sidekick have just been pumping out some pieces for the paid-for expansion packs mostly, with the dayjob stuff and a few TF rewards added.

Costume change emotes? That's good, but some of the most iconic (Such as the super speed spin, the lightning bolt change and so forth) you have to pay for. Nothing remotely elemental either, it'd be nice to have fire, ice, rock based emotes and so forth.

    New faces? Always nice.

I thought we already had the server wide Architect Chat channel? And great, more focus on the thing that gets the players to provide content thet dev's aren't, and worse, farming.

This is it? 5 years, promises of 'soon', of big things to come, of story driven updates, of revamps and proliferation and new things?

Say your piece, Positron. Say it, and I'll decide if I should drop CoH or not.

    [ QUOTE ]
After that it's only a matter of time before half the devs get fired and they're actually unable to update the game properly, which is where it will start dying off untill the plug is pulled late 2010/early 2011, if not sooner.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno, the small team brought us the Faultline update, and I can't flaw them there. Rikti War Zone was also good. Cimmuria/Cimoria/whatever? Not as appealing. The Midnighter stuff was a bit meh in my opinion too.
  6. 6 million boxes... would that be Prophecies, or all the boxes combined? Because in my case, I own Nightfall, Factions, Prophecies and will be getting Eye of the North soon.
  7. Up for one or two days and Guild Wars Trilogy is already #4 in the Top Sellers listing on Steam.
  8. People always mention WoW's graphics, but I actually prefer them to something like AoC. I'd rather have stylized graphics that look good on many systems than poor 'realistic' graphics that only look good on a monolith of technology.

Also, on Steam I see Guild Wars Trilogy has entered the top sellers list alongside such titles as L4D, Orange Box, Counter-Strike: Source and so forth.
  9. I have Prophecies, Nightfall and Factions, but still slowly making my way through Prophecies in my 14 Me/E. May go through Nightfall first though with my E/Mo.
  10. We do stuff like Left 4 Dead versus matches, and we could probably get some TF2 and Counter Strike: Source going too.

Hmm, also, if it's to do with timeouts...

In Firefox, type about:config into your address bar. Then in the filter search window, look for this:

    <font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>network.http.keep-alive.timeout</pre><hr />

Find the value associated with it, in my case 300, and increase that to say, 600, and it might help with the time outs, but not with the speed. If that doesn't work, increase to 900.

Zortel's friendly notice: I am in no way responsible for if you cause a resonance cascade in your browser, initiate at your own risk.

Re: Steam - you get some good bargains on there too, especially after Christmas time. Bioshock for something like £3.29? Special offers, indie games and cool collections too.

This message was not endorsed by Valve.

Also, it's nice to see the big bit on the Steam homepage, advertizing CoH, GW, Lineage and L2.
  11. There's a few small paid for things you can add to your account from the GW store as I recall:

    Extra character slot
    Character Rename
    Character Apperance Change
Extreme Character Apperance Change (No hormones or surgery needed!)
    Extra Storage
    Skill Unlock Packs
    Pet Unlock Packs
    Bonus Mission Pack
    2008 Edition Extras

But that's not like buying additional items and other rare things, more account services.
  12. Annoyingly, I couldn't find a single copy of CoH or Guild Wars today in Norwich (I was looking for Eye of the North. I like the boxes) but I did find a copy of Lineage 2.

And a copy of Auto Assault.

... yeah, still puzzling over that one too. It wasn't the nice box either.

Guild Wars to me is more of a single player thing. I create my character, get some henchmen or heroes, wander off doing missions and quests. Being a mage able to swap my skills out in a town area and spec completely differently with no cost is refreshing (Facing fire resisting enemies? Go for Water spells! Air? Earth! So on and so on. No issues such as a Dark Melee Scrapper versus CoT ghosts) and the game looks pretty. The fact I can pick up and play when I want is also nice.

Other players are something I come across in towns and rarely talk to, as the Free to Play aspect means there's a large ammount of hooting and hollering, somewhat akin to a town center on a Friday night after the clubs have closed.

(I did try playing Guild Wars with friends, but the fact that the party number varies by area annoyed us too much. You can't start with 8 of you, because for a while, in Prophecies at least, you start at 2 in Ascalon, then 4, then 6, then 8 at some point.)

Also, while I've not experienced it myself, GW seems to have the best system in mind for PVP, especially eSport level PVP, where the skills matter, and not your loot. WoW I think has been doing something like this on their Tournament server, but the Arena seasons on regular servers has been rather prone to overpowered classes (Hey there Death Knight!) and people in top tier loot (along with the fact that since the introduction of Arena Ratings it's harder to get loot to compete on the same level as others.)
  13. Maybe it's due to the new store site? Or the fact that Guild Wars players will be using their FREESTORAGE coupon to get a new bank page for free for the 4th Anniversary?

Code processed, applied to main account, had a choice of booster pack, went for Booster 2, now that's processing... and page load error. Going to wait a few minutes to see if I get any e-mails through before resending.

And the e-mail just came through! Time to boot her up and see.

    Booster and Code Applied. :&gt;
  14. Maybe a whole influx of new players are coming in from Steam and causing everything to slow down? Right?

Still trying to attempt to apply it, but I keep getting page load errors when processing the account key.
  15. I shall be trying this out later to see if that's exactly what happens.

    So Far:

    Purchased game on Steam
Selected the download client option and paused it.
Right Click on the City of Heroes listing and then select View Game CD Key.
    Write key down.
Go to the extremely slow today Play NC Account Management page.
Add CD key to account? (Key is now processing)
    ???
    Profit?

    Annnnd timed out.
  16. Has there been -any- new base items since bases were added?

Any at all? Other than the Vet ones.

    To much farming

    [ QUOTE ]

players should have to complete a small taskforce to progress past a certain level/gain access to certain skills.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe we could collect scrolls for this old guy named Maat and when we finish the quest we can give them to him and fight him for the right to level up past a certain level!

    ...

    ...

    ...

By Riker's beard I hate you FFXI. FFXI^&amp;#8734;h, where h is hate.

/em curls up in the corner and rocks back and forth. "Level down, level down, level down, level down, level down..."
  18. Sorry, I thought you said "Fail apparently, at least according to GamesIndusry.biz" ._.

It's been a little hectic this end tonight.

Hopefully summer beta then, maybe it'll give me my fix and stop me from being tempted by FFXI anymore.
  19. I don't see anything in that link that matches what you said, ML, just talks about NC Soft having games on Steam.

MissChief, probably not if my other games are anything like it, and yeah, CoH appears in New Releases, people go to click on it, game not available in this region? Could end up sending people to the US or, as you said, put them off.

Interestingly, Lineage and Lineage 2 are cheaper on Steam than from the PlayNC store.
  20. 105 games owned on Steam, only a problem with one, and that was Grand Theft Auto (the original) not working properly.

And as has been mentioned, EVE launched on Steam and got a fair few new users, and Age of Conan is on there too, so this may be a good move.
  21. Well, the games just went up, but CoH Architect Edition is unavailable in this region.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
It helps make things more fun if whenever an NC rep says 'soon' a little voice in your head starts singing 'In the year 2525'...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Great, now I have an urge to watch Cleopatra 2525. Only for Victoria Pratt, you understand.
  23. In that case, Excellent News everyone!

Can you give us any hints on when Aion is coming out? I'm rather looking forwards to it actually, so here's hoping it's nothing like Lineage II.
  24. http://us.ncsoft.com/en/news/press-r...-on-steam.html

CoH: Architect Edition, Guild Wars, Lineage and the upcoming Aion to be released on Steam?

Interesting, very interesting. No sign on the EU markets though, but maybe this'll help drum up some new players for said games.

    Just not for EU side.
  25. Mine's NatWest if it counts for anything.

Will there be an announcement when it's fixed?
