That's some cool stuff right there, I will admit. Love the blue healing flames, and means my fire/fire scrapper will no longer suffer the pain of green healing fire.

More than likely, Dante. They could just leave it until they come in during the morning, but... probably not.

It just feels like a half-[censored] job again, similar to MA. That was even delayed to add something the players really wanted adding, so why can't they do it with this?
They are basing issue 16 all about power customisation, it's what the issue is focused on, seemingly almost in it's entirety. I can't see the point of not doing it properly. There's not even going to be that many powers in the pools to actually change, a lot of them don't have colour effects, such as fitness pool.
Why do it improperly?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because it won't fit their release schedule - CO is this year, and they're sure to want PC out before it launches.
[/ QUOTE ]
CO is this year - at the moment.
It remains to be seen if it will actually make its September release date - never mind 2009.

Atari commands September 2009
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe, just maybe they'll remember the folly of Age of Conan. Or just look to their own catalogue and remember how KOTOR II and NWN2 did...
Hahahahaahahahaahahahaha, no chance. If it's not ready, then Atari'll still go ahead with the launch. Then Cryptic get to put in some more overtime and late nights trying to get it up to scratch for post release. -
Only if the DTWT team turn up at a con. They did without NCSoft's presence at Bristol Comic Expo 2009, but not sure if they'll make an appearance at any further ones this year.
Hopefully the merger with the US forums will mean we can get included in some of their competit- heh, who am I kidding. All those terms and conditions and so forth will probably forbid that. -

Ah that old song, I still want to see Avenue Q. Never got the chance
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd highly recommend it. Got the soundtrack well before I went to see it, but the show is much funnier than just the music.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, seen it twice now. It's no longer showing at the Noel Coward Theatre in the West End, but it is on at another theatre, the name of which currently eludes me. -
Olibith is a legend, I recommend his three Never Stay Tuned videos:
Never Stay Tuned 1
Never Stay Tuned 2
Never Stay Tuned 3 -
More Ancillery pools? Maybe? Pleaaaase?
Scrapper is getting Electric Melee/Aura soon, but we've had fire for a while now and no Fire Mastery yet. No Psychic Mastery for Blasters, and heck, now that patron powers have been made respecable, I'm sure they could give the Villains some choice in APPs too, right? Those poor Fire Brutes with no fire to throw...
It'd just be nice and thematic, y'know? And synergetic if that's even a valid word. -

This song is so old, and so unfunny now, I wasn't amused at all by another rehash made in another MMO.
[/ QUOTE ]
That 'other' MMO has some really funny movies. (inventing swearwords, GW:WOW dance battle, baywatch, etc etc). Shame CoH is too limited in animations to do sortalike.
[/ QUOTE ]
One thing that helps WoW machinima-wise is the fact the models can be exported and animated in external programs, or even 3D programs. A friend of mine does a WoW webcomic having extracted model data from the game itself to then tweak, animate and pose in their prefered choice of 3D software.
CoH on the other hand, doesn't have that and requires manual editing of a demo file to tinker with. -
Firey Assault/Icy Assault. Hello Fire/Ice blasts, hello fire/ice swords.
If you could pick free powers? People would use it to game break, some would gimp themselves too, but... look at it this way:
No one but a /Dev Blaster can use Cloaking Device. Doesn't make much sense. I'd love to use my 24 power picks to make someone with a few martial arts movies, a couple of the Arachnos Soldier gun attacks, cloaking device, combat jumping, quickness, hurdle, y'know, create a high-kicking, gun toting special forces type.
It'll never happen in this game, a total customization system will never work because people will always game-break/gimp themselves and then the devs will have to step in because some complained and then others complain that the devs stepped in and it all goes pete tong. -
In Mutants and Masterminds, people love my character's cape. Liberty Belle has a cape with DRAMATIC POWER. If she's quiet, it curls around her, if she's angry, the folds at the bottom almost make it look pointed, it swoops out of the way of getting caught in doors, billows out when she's looking heroic, fans out when she's landing.
Tis a good cape.
In Fading Suns, I gave FFM's character my shocksword to hold off some zombies on a space ship as I went to get into my plate armour. He swings at one, rolls a critical miss, hits the zombie who then stumbles off with my sword.
In Deadlands, the combination of Consecration and Dynamite. Holy Hand Grenade! Also, my Saloon Girl started throwing oil lamps off a saloon balcony to rain down on cultists, seeing as her derringer wasn't much good against them. FFM also used his Gatling Pistol, rolled a critical failure, and instead of firing bullets fired the barrel instead. -
These are all perfectly cromulant words. Neologism too.

I'll try not to step on a landmine, but with the rampant PVP nerfs flying around I doubt they'd do much more than singe my hitpoints. Toodles y'all.

You better not. You need those legs to walk about on so I can drag you around London getting lost in my endless quest for delicious chicken and comic books.
And don't worry, like I said, I'll keep your EVE character skill training. AND THEN TAKE YOUR HULK OUT FOR A DELICIOUS FISH SUPPER AND MINING PARTY. -

- I remember coming in over the weekend so I could build all those atmospheric spawns for Pocket D and researching all those TERRIBLE one-liners!

You're responsible for Desperate Guy and Turndown Girl? How on earth did you keep your sanity through all those bad pick up lines?
But yes, well said! -
He also has a hat. You cannot forget the hat.
I said farewell and good luck on the test server, and I will repeat that here. Good luck with whatever company you find yourself in! -
An excellent piece, Scarlet. Great work.
-
... Gah. You see what happens when I drink too much coffee?!
-
I enjoyed talking to people in Pocket D on the test server, meeting people from the forums and having a bit of a laugh. Talking with War Witch was delightful, and she seemed to take great interest in learning about us as players, and I felt a bit better having talked to her. Same with Ghost Raptor and Avatea.
Positron answered questions, and that was good. He found it interesting my mention of size shifting from male to huge, but when we brought up that we'd mentioned that on the forums many times, he said something along the lines that he knew that already and went to the next question.
Yeah, getting a bit excited about the in game address from Positron was silly of me. But Positron? There was no -need- to do it. You told us nothing a fair number of us didn't know. And that's what makes it worse. The fact that I could break down your announcement into thirty two words of what we didn't know but could probably guess would happen in something that isn't even that big a deal anyway. -
Positron's done what John Romero couldn't do.
In another thread I said that depending on the content of Positron's speech, I'd either stay or leave.
Anniversary chaff, a rehash of what the Issue 15 Overview told us in less detail, and the not so shocking news that it'd be on the test servers soon and that instead of it being a closed beta, it'll be a closed beta that everyone can have access too.
Not only this, but the devs seem adamant even when faced with player opinion that new zones are better than working on and improving the abundance of zone (in CoH at least) that we already have, and working on Task/Strike Forces and letting content be provided by the people doing MA stuff.
So here's me, sucking it down, eating my hat if I had one, and keeping to my word.
I'll leave for now. I'll let my account run out, and maybe check on when Issue 16 or 17 is coming out and what content it contains.
Every issue the goalposts for what we're waiting for are pushed back again. If this isn't Issue 15, the one we're waiting for with story advancement and new content, don't call it Issue 15. Call it Issue 14.5 or Issue 14 Extra Edition or Supplimental or 14b or 14 and a half.
See you, Space Cowboys.
Dr Toerag and others are probably right. I could do with a break. But as far as methods of parting go? This wasn't what I was hoping for, let down by a damp squid of an announcement, of disheartening information from the Devs, and an issue that could really just be a patch. -
I suppose what, 1 hour of talking to Posi and then War Witch is better than none.
-
From Posi's speech:

If you have a chance, drop by Pocket D on the Training Room this evening and hang out with the devs. It should be a blast!
[/ QUOTE ]
Does that include EU servers? -
Yeah, it's probably that... which'll be a shame, I was hoping to catch someone while it was a bit quieter and ask some RP related questions on fluff and Quality of Life issues.
-
Just wondering so I won't sit on there to 4am doing nothing. Only two other people here at the moment that I can see.
-
Faultline and RWZ.
I agree with everything you said, and voiced that to Positron on the Test Server earlier on.
Revamps and improvements first with new content, please. -
Agreeing with Scarlet Shocker, I think I9 to I12 really was something else.
Faultline and the Rikti War Zone stand out as shining examples of the direction zones and missions should be moving in.
Instance map fatigue is something that gets to me, and the new Midnighter Arcs that were put in were just rehashed maps and enemies, with nothing... unique about them.
If the TF and SF have 5 missions, with each mission being a unique map, that'd be something.
