Quote:You speak as if the acquisition of levels, of your level going ding upwards, is the only purpose to playing.Right now its poorer than the average leveling method, im not saying it needs to be best, but it needs to be better than it is.
Yes, AE is worse than farming for PLing. So to is, for example, my current play habit of logging on with lowbies and stomping through boreas for an hour or two.
Maximizing levels is not the point of game options. Maximizing fun is. -
I don't remember starting a thread telling people that I totally remember this one time I did a thing.
I'm still not seeing it as all that big a deal to kill two AVs in a team of three when your powers stack. I'm really not seeing it as some kind of grand congratulation on /Earth that determines it's the AV killer, as if somehow this whole feat would never have transpired if not for Earth Assault, especially since the buffs to the dominator.
I am also certain that there are players out there who can fail in a three-man-team to take on any specific AV you like to mention. But I'm also not sure what that proves either. Taking on an AV in a trio with well-stacking effects seems to me to be pretty much completely pointless to boast about.
Finally, I'm not sure how a video of me fighting an AV solo would meaningfully contribute to a discussion of what teams of stacked dominators do vs AVs. On the other hand, the point of this thread seems to be leave DC alone, which is probably some kind of lofty goal amongst you kids these days. -
Quote:Sir, how dare you.Bombarded is such a strong term. Appropriate, but still very strong

And I am a bit sensitive on just how bad Gravity is at the moment (hint: outside of Singularity it's worse than I thought, and I already thought it was bad).
You've got a trio of good reasons to be up close in melee - Hot feet, Ripper, and Skewer - and they should mesh together well. Provided you can team up - I don't envy fire/ from 12 to 32 these days - you should have a blast.Quote:But to cut to the point, Fire/Thorn should be excellent. Have a word with Liliaceae when you see him next, I think he's got one of these in his stable. -
Quote:That's weird, because I find that new players take ages making new characters and have heaps of fun doing it, because of all the customization. When you take forty minutes on the outfit, taking five on the name seems a small concern. It is when you are just trying to name a character and repeatedly told "This name is not available" (hmm, I really should go and check out exactly what that message is as a point of interest).
It might not take 10 minutes in all reality, but the aim should be to get a new player as smoothly as possible into the game rather than potentially frustrate them during character creation. -
The 'effects' of Archery are getting a nuke that recharges in twenty seconds and doesn't crash.
You are breaking washing machines into its tiniest of parts and complaining the size of their screws. Neither washing machine fails at being a washing machine because of the differences to which you object. -
Quote:I personally am trying to recall three-man teams of experienced players that can't handle AVs. I am sure there are some I've been on - things like a situation where we had a sidekick.I was ignoring the snark..but its gaining momentum unwatched. I'd like to point out that was a team of only THREE doms taking on a Hero level woodsman and his conned purple pets. If it was a full team of eight, I'd see the point of the additional comments....however again it was THREE Doms, no corrupter or brute in site. Not even a MM....
I am impressed. If you're not than I say try it yourself with three Dominators and tell me how it went...
Good that DC is having fun - and good that he's having fun with friends. I am however, interested in promulgating accurate information, and the thread title feels like an attempt to spin information and perception. -

Burn is a tool in a set. I haven't seen convincing evidence that the set needs significant buffing, and I don't fancy having Burn changed, as it suits my playstyle, so it better suits yours. Why is your play of the game better than mine? If the power as I play with it satisfies me, you can just skip it; you're not forced to take it. If you get what you want out of the power, I don't have the option of taking the way it was. -
Quote:If people stopped making stupid suggestions, I might stop disagreeing with them.Thing is, people have addressed your points. Repeatedly. And you ignore the responses. Repeatedly.
Do you have any intention in this thread of helping to design a way in which Dual Pistols can be presented to the Developers as an acceptable power set for use in the Epic and Patron Power Pools for Scrappers, Stalkers, Brutes, and Tankers? Or are you just here to troll every suggestion put forward by other players and be as negative as you possibly can? Like you've been in pretty much every other thread I've seen you, like the Fix Burn thread.
And no - I'm not here to help design a way in which a ranged set with a high degree of customer currency can be interpreted to melee archetypes. In fact, I'm actively against the idea for some reason which might become apparent if one were able to navigate a sentence.
This is not the 'Everyone agree with me' forum. -
You're absolutely right that that point entirely on its own isn't sufficient to support the idea of leaving it alone. I wonder why I only provided one weak point like that.

The shuriken in Weapon Mastery is a single power. It's not mandated that every person who takes Weapon mastery uses a shuriken.

Quote:Every single scrapper with the pistol ancillaries is a scrapper who is using a pair of pistols. Or magical constructs that look just like pistols.not my dog in the fight, but addressing the pistols being too conceptually narrow to fit in the existing power pools, i dont see it.
That's what I mean by 'conceptually narrow.' It can't be acid belching or bio-organic matter or tendrils of black hair. It's guns. -
Quote:Good for you. For my own involvement in this conversation, though, I'd much rather you address my points (conceptually narrow, would need to be jiggered to avoid causing redraw, wouldn't work like existing pistols work, further adds to an archetype that doesn't need anything at this point, overlaps with 'weapon' mastery, and has less conceptual or interpretive depth than other ancillary options) than just iterate a wish-list of powers you'd like to have.
Sorry Talen, I do not agree with you.
Can you? -

One who properly uses logic also doesn't need to make physical threats.
-
Scrapper epics have a single-target ranged attack in them and a area-effect ranged attack in them. They also tend to have a hold, an immobilize, or some other controllish power, or a debuff. Pistols are conceptually narrow, would need to be jiggered to avoid causing redraw, wouldn't work like existing pistols work, further adds to an archetype that doesn't need anything at this point, overlaps with 'weapon' mastery, and has less conceptual or interpretive depth than other ancillary options.
Once those sensible reasons are outlaid, I can move on to the non-sensible ones, like how every time an Equilibrium fan is disappointed, an angel gets its wings. -

- Powers aren't taken away from archetypes that are live. It hasn't happened in living memory.
- Powers aren't swapped between archetypes that are live. It hasn't happened in living memory.
- Banes are not conceptually super-dodgy.
- A level 38 power that's not regularly up is of little assistance to an archetype with problems.
- Widows only have Elude because there are SO-built widows out there.
- If Widows get a damage aura, you might as well give them Recovery Aura, because that's about all they'll have left that they lack.
- Who are you people and where is my horse?

This is not the specific you, by the way. -
Quote:For what it's worth, 'none are useless' is not the same as 'I can play them all.'I've had trouble getting stalkers out of the teens always stalling out around 16-19, but after the first 8 levels I'm finding this one enjoyable.
That said, as a DB/EA, you have lots of options for getting recharge and +damage from IO sets, and you don't need stamina. Ironic that she lets you get it.
Also, with the new set bonus rules, you could soft-cap yourself to a few positions. Plus, DB can scrap it out nicely. -
Quote:To sum it up, it sucks. The enemies both high ranking and low leave the burn patch and scatter before 3 ticks of damage making it a worthless attack power unless you have other tools or other players to force the enemies in place.

Quote:Sure, if you can make all my controller and dominator stuns and holds do that. And then increase boss mez protection to compensate.Ok...if adding damage is absolutely out of the question...then you it needs its stun mag raised so that it will work on a boss by itself.
Maybe something like: mag-3 stun with a duration of 11.9s with an extra mag-1 stun for 5.9s.
Then it would be able to stun a boss with one hit for 5.9s.
As a scrapper, you don't need control to deal with bosses. If you do, you're built badly. Cobra Strike is a pinpoint tool which can be layered to mitigate boss damage.
"I do not like the way this power works." is not a compelling argument for change, as it can be immediately countermanded with "I do like the way this power works."
Provide some evidence that the powerset is inadequate. Then we can talk buffs. -

Or at least, only creative in the same way as enough other people have been creative as to resemble uncreative.
I've rarely had any names that I really wanted not be available, in some fashion or another, slightly mutated. On the other hands, amongst the names I wanted, I've scored or grabbed for people the names Emblazoned, Reforged, Swivel, Coil, Vandalous, Battlebriar, Tradewind, Eavesdrop and Drawforce.
This is on Virtue, the second most populated server.
What I would suggest, though, if there's a name you really want, hop on and do a /getglobalname for the names you want. Sometimes you'll find a global name, and that's someone you can ask. You'd be surprised how many people are free with giving away names in these situations. -
The only people who ever recognise me do so referencing 'Lazy And Stupid.'
