Hi there, Star Jewel.
I'm glad to see another RP convert. Always great to have more people to chat/plot with into the small hours .
If you're on Union, feel free to drop by the GG meet. It's not to everyone's taste and certainly isn't the only RP to be found but it's fairly easy to just walk up and say hello .
[ QUOTE ]
I've read a few things about rules and tips for RP'ing in CoH/V, and I will do my best to play according to these rules.
[/ QUOTE ]
<Barbossa> They're more a set of guidelines really... </Barbossa>
Just be polite - well, polite-ish, depends on your character, really... - and remember that in character actions have in character consequences .
Hope to see you in-game, just look for Ana Firebrand if you want to say hi! -
To whom it may concern, I'm afraid I'm going to pull out of the Militia. Just don't have enough time to dedicate to it.
I'll post something about Tatters in the IC thread when I have a chance - weekend, probably.
Anyway, thanks for the team-ups guys. Hope you all have fun! -

If you're going to insist on flares, it only needs 5 slots, 3 damage, 1 accurace and 1 range increase. All your other main attacks (like fire blast, blaze, snipe) should be 6 slotted with 3 damage, 1 accuracy and either 2 end. red., 2 recharge or one of either, depending on it's cost.
[/ QUOTE ]
Largely agree with this though I still wouldn't recommend flares.
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I avoided Rain of Fire and Fire Breath as they really aren't that good - they spread mobs, don't do that much damage and aren't really main attacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't say I agree with this on Fire Breath. First, I have never found it a power that causes mobs to scatter and, secondly, it does very decent damage indeed. And, while the range of Fire Breath is poor, it is a cone attack and I would certainly regard it as a main attack.
With regards to Time Bomb, see my previous suggestion - works quite well.
[ QUOTE ]
It provides you with a good hold (waaaay better than web granade) an armour (essential as a blaster)
[/ QUOTE ]
/pedant
Web grenade is immob, not a hold
/pedant
Body Armour is an auto res power giving 12.5% S/L res, IIRC. Decent for an auto but not spectacular.
LRM is very good though.
Hmm... I seem to be coming across quite defensively, I apologise if this is too much but I really love this powerset combination. -
Hot_Head, Tatters, Marcus Phillips
I won't be able to make it tonight, I'm afraid and Tatter's future with the Militia may be in doubt due to RL commitments and lack of time to level him up etc. I'll let you all know either way... -
True, hasten isn't nearly as uber as it was but, if you've got the space for it, I'd consider picking it up for those moments when you hit build-up and wanted to spam blaze at an EB or some such .
That said, I have hasten because I wanted SS and it's sooo much handier than flurry. -
Given my main, it's hardly a surprise that I'd agree on fun side of fire/dev blasters but I'll make a couple of suggestions, if you want.
Firstly, as Jersey pointed out, make sure to 3-slot your attacks for damage and targeting drone for tohit buffs.
Secondly, I wouldn't recommend flares - quick but the damage output isn't all that great in comparison to the rest of the set (it is, IMO, an easily skippable power). Not a huge fan of rain of fire either (your powers are based on AoE and RoF makes the mobs scatter like particularly flightly pigeons seeing a cat) but it can be combined somewhat successfully with caltrops if you're game for it.
Aside from the above 2 powers, Jersey's posted build looks good - though I'd highly recommend adding rech to your attacks and thinking about picking up hasten.
Never tried DreamWeaver's TP suggestion but I can see how effective it would be if it catches your fancy.
And Cloak + Timebomb in a large group of enemies works really well... when soloing, at least...
Anyway, that's my 2 inf - discard as you see fit and have fun.
P.S. Do mind the aggro, won't you? -

we aimed at filling three tiers of all the archetypes (15 characters.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah. Makes sense.
The times I've been there, however, there are only enough people to make one team and this is usually a combination of members from the two listed teams.
Has a second team been in operation yet or is it just early days? If not, might it be worth opening a 4th tier in an attempt to have enough numbers for 2 full or semi-full teams, given the understandable absences that people face? -
Maybe I've got this wrong but there are only 7 people listed in Team Silver; I'm sure Jediand would be welcome in that team, no?
Or is it a case of the place being filled and me being in the dark...? Apologies to the eighth Team Silver member if this is the case. -
*cough* *cough*
*mumbles* Tatters, spines/SR scrapper */mumbles*

Some cloning going on, is there? -
Yes, as Fire Hero pointed out, you should slot reconstruction for 3 heal and 2-3 rech. That'll give you about a 50% heal every 30-35 secs, very handy indeed.
Also make sure to pick up Integration asap and slot for 3 heals. -
Welcome to CoH and, more importantly, welcome to the forums... We don't bite, honest!
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the RP situation on Defiant and Union is generally regarded as the 'unofficial' RP server. That's not to say there isn't any RPing on Defiant, of course.
Should you wish to join us on Union, there's a nightly RP meet in Galaxy City at 9pm. Feel free to drop by and say hi to whoever's there and, given your character concept, Red Commissar may be a good person to start with.
This is far from the only RP venue/group available but is the mostly easily found and widely known about one.
Other than that, keep an eye on this Roleplaying forum and don't be afraid to ask questions here or in the New Player section (depending on relevance, of course).
Hope some of that is helpful and I'll be sure to say hi should I see you around. Best of luck!
Edit: Hmm... sorry, I just realised that I never answered the question that Coila (below) talks about. Try this . Might help make more sense of the CoX universe. -
Aside from this week - where I'll be a little late on both Monday (should be on at 8pm) and Wednesday (half 7... pm) with Tuesday being ok - I'm free any two of those days.

On the Intermajiggernet?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Interwebbermabob, surely? -
The pale man sitting on the left side of the room with his legs crossed watched the balding man prattle on about heists and their tedious nature. He attempted to give the appearance of mild interest but failed to make it convincing: he was bored. His thoughts drifted and, as was usual settled on the event that had started him on this path...
"They've denied us permission and cut our funding! This is outrageous! Don't they realise how close we are?"
"For crying out loud! Calm down, Thomas! You're not going to get anywhere by venting at me!"
Thomas stopped pacing and glared at the speaker. Snorting, he whirled around and began pacing again. "And you're just going to give in?"
The speaker crossed her legs and sighed. "You ask the most inane questions, do you realise that? Firstly," she said, ticking the points off on her fingers, "they are perfectly within their rights to cut our funding; secondly, our research is dangerous and their concerns are far from groundless and thirdly, no, they won't get away with it." She smiled dangerously at Thomas as he turned to look at her.
Standing perfectly motionless, he looked at her with interest, finally asking "And just what do you mean by that, Rebecca?"
Ignoring the direct question, she began musing. "We'll have to finish our work quickly before the money we have runs out and they throw us off the premises. That'll require some late nights and bad coffee, I imagine. Our findings, however, should really surprise them, don't you think?" She smiled again, a lethal motion of her lips and Thomas nodded slowly.
They had worked through the night and then solidly for the following two days before achieving a break-through. It had not been, however, what either had expected...
The pale man refocused his eyes and regarded the balding man once again who was talking about French bread for a reason beyond the pale man's ability to care about. He nodded as the man finished speaking and looked around at the others disinterestedly.
"The true test is yet to come..." he thought.
((There'll be more about the pale man's background eventually but that'll do for now... )) -
Hmm... It could work alright. Guess we'll have to see how many can make each day. I know Wednesdays are out for me but I'll certainly be there Mondays.
Oh, and Dark Animator (Dark/Kinetics corruptor) is my character. I'll post some background etc. when I have a chance. -
I'd take a corruptor slot, if there's one left...
I'll be a little late next Monday but other Mondays are fine. Hope that's alright... -
Hey! Tatters ain't crazy, he's just... extremely odd.
You're right, though, he could never lead. *sigh* -
Hmm... (again)
Fire shield is ~22.5% Smash/Lethal/Fire res with a tiny bit of cold res... no defence...
There is a freespec with I7.
And do pick up fighting (box/tough at least) as the extra res is very nice indeed.
Check this out too - very handy for planning though some info is slightly out of date. -
Hmm...
For Consume, I'd recommend 3 rech, 2 acc and 1 endmod. You really don't want the power to miss and, provided you use it in a group of 3 or more, you should get a full end bar.
Edit: Oh, and don't forget the 3-slotted stamina! -
I'd have to agree. I'm not against SG colours per se but IC-wise, it just wouldn't work (my character is very attached to the colours he wears... ).

My concern is how easy is it to roleplay an alien?
[/ QUOTE ]
Realistically, I'd say it was up to you. Bear in mind that Kheldians are joined with humans and, especially as you're toying with an all human PB, you can play out the human side and downplay the alien - should you so desire.
I've got a sassy, Georgia-girl WS who doesn't really exhibit anything in the way of alien-ness. She's who she is and was - the alien hasn't changed her fundamentally.
Hope this is helpful and remember, in the end, 'tis up to you. -
((Was going to repost the isty-bitsy bio I did but it'd look kinda pants next to the rest. So here goes something more. *takes a deep breath*))
The Skulls seemed to be trying to steal the wheels off a car but it could have been the hubcaps they were after. They were certainly engrossed in their activity and weren't paying any attention to the youth standing at the top of a nearby fire escape.
A discarded piece of newspaper was caught by the wind and quickly made its way up to the intense young man. His eyes darted in the direction of the movement and his tongue flicked over his lips in anticipation. Realising what it was, he quickly looked back at the Skulls in the hope that they'd provide the excitement he craved. The paper began to float past his head but, still looking at the carjackers, he contempuously snatched it out of the air and bit off a piece to chew.
The paper was soggy and tasted of the street which, to be fair, wasn't clean. He grinned and his eyes danced in amusement. "Gotta try that in front of 'em soon! Yeah, that'll be it, make 'em sweat: 'Is he crazy? A few rocks short of a landslide?' That'd shake 'em, loosen 'em up, oh yeah." He chuckled quietly and briefly, absently tearing bits off the paper, letting the breeze reclaim its toy piece by piece.
The gangmembers seemed to be having trouble with the wheel and he was getting impatient. One of them glanced up and he realised he'd been drumming a rather unique rhythm with is left foot. Spitting out the wad of paper he shrugged and jumped off the fire escape...
Later, he found a flat envelope on his bed. Whirling around he searched his room chaotically, muttering. "Weird stuff! City's gettin' stranger all the time. No place for ordinary people no more. Magic envelopes and lame carjackers! Must be the aliens..." He started to look upwards but caught himself and shook his head to clear it, grinning from ear-to-ear. "They're in the sewers now, not the skies..." He chuckled and turned his attention back to the envelope.
It was a regular brown envelope with 'Tatters' written on the face-up side. He glanced around once more then made a grab for the envelope before darting to a corner. "No letter-bombs for me," he murmured emphatically. He remained in the corner while his eyes hunted the room for any changes and his hands worried the envelope. He scowled, growing bored of his visual search and ripped open the envelope. That done, he held the single sheet of crisp, white paper carefully in both hands as he scanned it, tasting aloud phrases that appealled to him.
"...noticed your activities... aware of your abilities and dedication... great potential..."
He stopped reading. Staring into the middle distance and thinking furiously, his fingers made small tears in the paper. A small smile soon spread across his face and he touched the horns on his forehead with his left hand. "Potential..." he said, savouring the word. The smile became a grin and Tatters let the shredded piece of paper fall to the floor.
"... great potential..." -
Alpha and Bravo. Much better names.
Well, I'm free Mondays if that's the night Bravo are going to go with. So, I'd be willing to switch teams. -
Alright, let's see if I've got this straight.
There's going to be 2 teams: Team A and Team B - for want of better names.
Team A:
Scrappers - Pious, Hot Head
Blasters - Dutch Barbarian, Dante
Defenders - Ashen, Battleflag
Tanker - Finn29
Controller - Universe
Team B
Tanker - Lief_Roar
Controller - _Max_
+ others TBC
The 2 teams are under in the Militia but operate separately and have little IC contact as (OOC) A operate on Thursdays and B operate on a different day.
Is any of this correct? I'm getting a tad confused, I'm afraid...
