  1. Name: League of Misfits

Currently Recruiting: We are always open to new recruits, if you're interested talk to one of our In-Game Contacts below or drop us a note of interest on the Misfit Meltdown board at our GuildPortal.

RP Level: "[[Gather for plot point!]]" -- Gerard Le Mystere

Our primary focus is RP. There's usually several open storylines going on at any given time, and we have occasional RP nights where we further storylines playing through a story arc or TF adapted to our purposes.

SG chat is considered to be IC at all times, with any OOC comments marked as such (by "OOC:", brackets or what-have-you). Blending and meta-gaming is frowned upon, but we are not strict about the actual ratio of IC lines to OOC ones as we generally all like each other and have as much fun just playing and BS-ing OOC as we do roleplaying. We're by and large capable of doing both at the same time. During more RP-intensive events we generally ask that OOC be kept as much as possible in the group's global channel.

PvP Level: We make frequent use of the Arena for SG events, furthering RP storylines, and just plain goofing off. We do not currently engage in any organized zone PvP.

Theme/Concept: The League of Misfits is a loosely affiliated association of oddballs and outcasts who have come together in the Misfit Mansion almost as a family, some out of choice and others who simply have nowhere else to go. Conceptually we're all over the map -- capes, wizards, warriors, mutants, magical constructs, extraterrestrials, extradimensionals, extratemporals, reformed villains, ghosts, super squirrels, sentient vegetables -- even the French! -- whatever you want to play, if you can make it interesting we're happy to have you with us.

Activity: We currently have over 15 players in the group, and there's almost always someone on -- we have daytime and nighttime regulars, and most of us have alts of both factions and various level ranges. We're very SK/exemp friendly, being more concerned with having fun hanging out with each other than steamrolling stuff or powergaming (though get enough of us together and steamrolling often becomes inevitable).

Requirements for Membership: We have no level requirement for entry, but we do require applicants to team with two Master Misfits before being invited, to give us and you the opportunity to decide if our styles mesh. Activity on our GuildPortal forums is encouraged but not currently required.

Leadership: The Misfits are led by:
<ul type="square">[*]Rouge Typhoon, spokesman for Rouge Typhoon products and semi-retired hero[*]Timid Trickery, super magic lady of super magic stuff[*]Gerard Le Mystere, magician extraordinaire and Frenchman of renown[*]Berceuse, hard-working archer of the British persuasion[*]Tataku, a human-like feline jungle predator samurai[/list]
    In-Game Contact(s): @Tezzi &amp; @RougeTyphoon

Out-of-Game Contact(s): You can send me (AlwaysAPrice) a PM here on the official forums, or stop by our GuildPortal for more information. Our OOC boards are open to the public, though I believe you need a GuildPortal account to post there.

URL: The League of Misfits on GuildPortal
Also: The League of Misfits at UHVU (currently just links to UHVU pages of members, but as we put more info together it'll eventually be updated).

    Coalition(s): None at present.

Other Details: We ask that members between levels 1-25 play in SG mode at all times; after 25 it's at your discretion, always appreciated but never mandatory. Inactive members should expect to be booted after 14 days; if you expect to be gone longer, give us a heads up. We have a pretty fully stocked base with teleporters to most zones and all sorts of storage which is accessible after your first promotion (after earning 10k Prestige). Third rank comes at 120k Prestige -- further promotion has nothing to do with Prestige but rather your activity within the group and requires a consensus of all the Master Misfits.
  2. YES! Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for this feature?! Please tell me the VS for Petrifying Gaze will in fact be "BRONG!" I'm going to go turn off my sound right now to get ready for this brilliant step forward in realizing the superhero gaming experience; audio has stood in the way of immersion for far too long.
  3. (QR, apologies if anything I comment on's been addressed or clarified)

Ohh so happy. I have one Brute who's getting rerolled to Axe the instant this hits live, and I'm really looking forward to /Storm Corrupting...will we see more support sets for Masterminds as well?

    Roman costumes are hot.

I have to say it's an excellent idea to include Powerset Proliferation with new lower level content for all the new alts coming, though I notice there's no such content (announced) for Villains (excepting VEAT storylines).

On the subject of VEATs -- the game already treats you like a minion of Arachnos, what do I need to be an actual Spider or Widow for? While this reflects the HEATs by having two variations of the same basic concept, I think a lot more people would have been made happy by one Arachnos AT and another of a completely independent theme. Also, if all the new Arachnos-y costume pieces are exclusive in every variation to the VEATs, that will also be suck (the high collar dammit, GIVE ME). ...I am very intrigued by the branching powerset set-up, though, and if it works it sounds like something I'd like to see more of as the game evolves.

Everything under "Major Gameplay Improvements"? GREAT. Especially Insp conversion and the Level Up Boost. Though I'm going to be annoyed every time I level up on a mission complete bonus and the boost is wasted, it's still going to be really cool when it hits at the right time.

Also, there better be a proper Monocle costume piece included with this just for including it in the artwork at the top of the preview.

VEAT griping aside, this looks like another really, really good issue; I'm psyched.
  4. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYES!

    That is all.
  5. I just finished a class on teamwork. The first assignment was a questionnaire assessing past team experiences. Since I find the subject inherently dull, I decided to liven things up for myself and looked to my experiences with PuGs in CoX for my answers. I was stunned to realize how much applicable knowledge I've absorbed just by observing the differences between effective and ineffective teams. Got a 100 on that paper.

I'd say there's definitely a lot that can be learned about both leadership and collaboration from MMOs, especially one like CoX where the flexibility of the gameplay and diversity of playstyles and builds encourages the development of new strategies for each group of heroes or villains (or both).
