To put it in another perspective, both those are equal to about 1.5 oz (or a shot) of 80 proof liquor, which is what goes in a typical mixed drink. I had to learn all this stuff to get my ABC license to serve alcohol when I worked as a bartender.

And yeah, what Silas said is better advice as far as choosing one to drink, it is sort of like coffee.
It's funny you mentioned this because I *just* got out of a class on hypertension and how many standard drinks you're supposed to limit yourself to per week, standard drinks being defined as what you described.

    Lies and slander.

I'd never partake in any activity involving that milkshake of a beer you call Guinness.

    MA Mondays!

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight!

I just want to say that next week will be my last MA Monday. I'm in the last year of my program and exams are picking up rapidly, and I'll have to dedicate more time to that. It also seems that the production of new arcs has slowed down since i14, so it might be a good time to stop the event unless people are still interested. In any case, I won't be available after next week.

Thanks for the great run all. We'll kick off next Monday with Witty's arcs. See you then!

One of the trickier things to do but it helps you determine your next heal target if you can tell with a split-second judgment who is more quickly losing the larger percentage of their health. It sounds easy, but can change things completely in certain situations. Example: You have a brute and a dom on the team, the brute is at 50% health and the dom is at 75%, since the brute can probably hold their own without the heal a little longer and is probably receiving damage more slowly, heal the dom. (Granted, this is also subjective and something that you learn from playing support more than any guide can try to explain it).

The thaw animation is a pain in the ***. No, really, I think its worse than CM. That being said, "learn" the activation time so you know how long you'll be rooted when you use it. Learn of course meaning not to memorize the activation time, but rather to know by feel about how long it takes so you can judge if you need to make distance between yourself and a mob before you hit it.
I'd also like to pat Silas on the back for a job well done, once again, on his guide.

Stray raises 2 great points. I'd also like to add that part of judging the rate of incoming damage involves paying attention to where people are located (See Silas' Battlefield Awareness section). When I play support toons, I try to always be watching other players in terms of what their tendencies are and how they handle situations. Checking to see where people are on the map helps this, as you don't want to be sitting there trying to heal the person that is half way across the map. To some this kind of monitoring might seem excessive, but for me it's part of the fun in challenging myself to be better.

I haven't played Thermal since i6 hit, so I can't recall the animation for Thaw. However, I can say for sure that when I use CM, animation time is something I try to keep in mind. This may make me reluctant to try to CM everyone in certain situations. I find part of the trick to Emping on MSTFs is to manage your animations for other powers in situations where you might have to put out a reflex heal. I've definitely messed this up in the past and had someone die because I was trapped in a CM animation. That said, when I'm considering CMing people on the team, I try to take into account the mez tendency of the mob itself, who has protection, how much damage is coming in at the time, and who would benefit the most from having it. From there, I try to prioritize accordingly.

    Absolutely.

Good players, in my mind, are people who can play just about any AT they choose to play well, have an understanding of what other ATs are capable of, and can work well with others on a team. This generally produces an open mind to new possibilities and leads to better problem solving abilities.

In the rare event that a team of good players runs into trouble due to less than ideal ATs, they are usually more likely to find a solution than a group of players who have the "ideal" AT mix that either lack skill or sufficient understanding of the game and other ATs on the team.

In short, I'd much rather be on the underdog team that succeeded than the 'perfect' team that failed.

    A lot.
While I have read your guide and think it's probably the best tribute to Pain Dom I could imagine, I have to agree with Alpha Zulu. I just can't get behind this set. I've played my Sonic/Pain Dom Corruptor for about 45 levels or so, I've tried to give it a chance, but every time I am on that toon I want to switch to something else. The only reason I've kept it around is because it's my highest villain at the moment.

    Just my personal preference though.

The reason I went with the cancellation was because a substantial number of the people who normally lead the raid, including myself, won't be available. I can only assume that trend will be reflected by the rest of the raiders as well.

Recently, we've had a lot more people step up and learn some key positions, so it is definitely still possible. However, I did not want to post that the raid was still scheduled and leave people with the expectation that the regular leads would be there.

  22. I figure since it's the long weekend coming up and folks probably have plans, it's a good idea to cancel the raid this Sunday. Hope everyone has a nice holiday and I'll see you the following week!

Thanks everyone who came out last night. I got some great feedback, much appreciated. I will be making my Evil Hospital Workers less evil.

Just a heads up that next week's MA Monday will be cancelled due to the long weekend. I hope everyone has the chance to get out and enjoy the last bit of summer!

QFT. I think the fact that we as a community have several SGs of different sizes, rules, structure and groups of people is not something that should change, but should be encouraged. There isn't an SG that's right for everyone, and I believe people should have the opportunity to find something that is suited to them, be it in a large SG, with a few RL friends or family members, etc.

On that note, when I read something like this:

Teams must be from the same VG or SG or divisions of the VG or SG.
    Followed by this:

We have tried really hard to help get EVERYONE involved and help the server.
I find it hard to understand your frustration. I agree with Kat that because it's your event, you should be able to run it as you see fit. However, when you place limitations on the audience that your event is directed at, it shouldn't come as a surprise that more folks didn't show up. One could argue that someone could put their toon in a larger SG for the event, but frankly, I don't think many would be interested in that option, as many people from small SGs are just as proud of their SG tag as those from larger SGs.

Now it seems that in the end, after much discussion, people from different SGs were allowed on the same team for your most recent test event. I’m not sure where along the lines the rules were changed. For this reason, I’ll make the comment that when you post about an event, it helps to have all the information displayed as concisely and clearly as possible to avoid confusion.

    In regards to this:
    Quote:
The event was meant for large sg's with pro players to get out and have fun and to encourage smaller sg's to make more friends.
I think you are operating under the incorrect assumption that people from small SGs are somehow lacking in friends, are unhappy that they are small or are lacking skilled players. There are numerous networks available in game that connect different groups of people from different SGs. Also, a lot of people from small SGs prefer small SGs. Again different strokes for different folks. And in terms of skill, like Cherry said, I've found some incredible people in smaller groups. I would not underestimate the quality of player you get from a small SG.

    Lastly:
    Quote:
All AOW events are now for members only including the AOW 25 MILLION CC, we will hold 2 events per week for members only. The public does not deserve our support!

If you want to actually get involved and build a better community then join ALL-OUT-WAR!
Your WORDS mean nothing, your ACTIONS do!
It is unfortunate that, despite your seemingly good intentions, your attempt at bettering the community has resulted in this. However, there are many different people that contribute to our community, and your lack of participation will not stop what has already been established.

Good luck to you and yours.
