Quote:Later this Year™So when will it actually be free to new players? Can you give a rough date on this? Like by december? I know a few people who want to join but they want to try it out first. I would just send a trial to them but that option got removed on the account screen.

Quote:In this case, the term premium would refer to the fact that it was a previously created account. I'd be interested to know what their Paragon Rewards levels are at. My guess would be Tier 1....so these people that now have active freebie accounts that used to be TRIAL ACCOUNTS are somehow Premium? How did they get to be Premium accounts, exactly?
How are these activations being handled? By age? By time since last renewed? Randomly?
I really don't like this setup, to be honest. :/ If Z can get in for free, so should ABCthroughY.
And the process is a gradual one...migrating millions of lines of data is not something you flip a switch on. Ask any DBA and they'll tell you that data takes time to transfer. Additionally, a slow ramp up is the right move to make for many reasons.
I'm not privy to the order in which these accounts are being migrated. I would venture to guess it's random or by some type of sequential DB ID field, however, as always, I'm no DBA or Engineer.

This is intentional.
We're going to be slowly reactivating inactive *premium* accounts (new players still may not create new free accounts). This is a slow ramp up and the process will take time. We'll put up a Community announcement at some point, however glad you guys noticed.

There will still be maintenance when the free players arrive that will impact them just as much as the VIP players.
As I said, this maintenance is in preparation for the influx of players, however it will benefit the experience of everyone, Free, Premium and VIP. -
We certainly understand frustration with extended downtime, which is a reason we're starting this maintenance at 3:30 AM Central/1:30 AM Pacific/9:30 AM BST as opposed to our normal time of 6:30 AM Central. We will have staff working to support this, and continually monitoring once we bring the servers back online.
Another thing to consider is that as OCR, we never give you the estimate that Ops/Publishing/Engineering/Whatever gives us. We *always* significantly pad our estimates with additional time. So there is a chance the servers will be back online prior to what we estimated (there's also a chance it could go longer...that's just how these things work). With hardware upgrades, especially significant ones, we cannot rush things.
I understand there's been a more than the usual amount of maintenance for the last month or so. We've got a pretty significant change happening right now and we need to be sure that the servers can handle a huge influx of players; Not just for the Free players, but for *everyone*. It's important to us that your in game experience isn't going to be hugely impacted on a performance level when we open the doors to returning and free players, and as such we are making the necessary investments, such as hardware upgrades, to do everything within our power to ensure as much.
Thank you for bearing with us, thank you for your understanding and thank you for your continuing support. -
While I would love to say "what Arcanaville said" I'm trying to find an official answer for you.
I'll let you know if/when I hear something back. -
If you're experiencing the crash issue recently on a 32 bit OS, could you confirm the following?:
Does disabling shadows and restarting cause your client to not crash for longer periods of time?
Thanks! -
As an update:
- This issue is now resolved. All players affected by this will need to log into their Master Account (https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/accountManagement.pl) and update their City of Heroes *game* password. Once this is completed you should be able to log into the game.
- I have received a list of all accounts affected by this issue. I will be personally contacting each of you at the email address listed in your master account, so while you're updating your password, please be sure that your email address up to date.
We do sincerely apologize for this situation and thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve this in a manner that was safe and responsible. -
The Forum Login Issue should now be resolved. Players will no longer be affected by this issue moving forward.
If you are still experiencing issues with logging into the forums, please log into the game which will automatically update your forum log in.
Thanks for your patience!
Edited with full instructions. -Z -
We just received an update from our engineering group:
We've discovered an issue where EU players with accounts that contain over 14 characters whom change their passwords will be unable to log into the game. We're working to resolve this ASAP, however it may not be corrected until very early next week due to this affecting the log in server. ( as such we have to show extra caution when handling this data).
I apologize for the delay in update and the inconvenience.
Thanks

The font issue should now be addressed.
Please let me know if you experience otherwise, along with what OS version you're using.
Thanks! -
The *head honcho* in the studio is Brian "Crosscheck" Clayton.
Then there's the *head honchos* in Seattle and Korea.
For the intent of the Development and Design of the game,
- Second Measure is the overall producer.
- War Witch is leading the Strike Teams and ensuring that the creative vision is being adhered too.
- Positron is responsible for the overall design philosophy and oversight of the entire game.
- Ghost Falcon is in charge of multiboxing.
- Black Pebble is in charge of nefarious schemes to steal puppies and kittens.
- Black Scorpion is in charge of...actually...we don't know what he's doing...he walks around muttering things about Seagulls and Kheldians and we kinda leave him alone most of the time.
- Protean is in charge of our Wil Wheaton sound alike club.
- Avatea is in charge of SHHHH-eduling and all things PURR-ple.
There's more, but I would have to defeat you if I told you. -
-
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I am patching up at home...
And I get to make my Beam Rifle character...
And I get to plazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Quote:So what you're saying is,I'd like to add that being the "Lead" anything does not mean you are ultimately responsible for making the final call on projects. I am the graphic design lead in my company, but I'm still at the mercy of the Marketing Department. If they want something added, it's added. If they want something out, it's out.
Blame Marketing.

Quote:If it helps, the costume slot unlocks and the storage unlocks are *global*.The costume unlocks? Are priced too much. As are some of the storage unlocks. While I wouldn't drop them to next to nothing as some are implying, going down to about 5-7 dollars would seem fair for the current 10$ price point. I would drop 25 dollars for all 5 costume unlocks in a heartbeat. 50? I'm hesitant.
