(looks at ShyGuy's power choices) I'm thinking "overused" isn't an issue here.
Angelic top with assassin bottom is pretty hot. With that name, you've got to do something with your eyes, too. Maybe along these lines? Most of the time you'll be stalked out though, probably looking more like this.
If you can lose the 'shy' hair you might try black skin and bald with something bright around the eyes. That way, when you're hidden, it will be hard to see anything other than the glowing eyes. Muuuhahahahaa! -
I've actually got a third version of my screenshot/demo guide. However, that 'guide' is just a link to my online guide. You're welcome to link to either or both.
Oooo, you even got the Shadow Shard Theory guide! I'm very impressed! Superb job Zombie_Man! -
Very nice!
You're welcome to draw any of my characters you like. I've got a ton of screenshots via my sig link. But.... uhhh... it's double xp weekend! I didn't think we were even allowed to shower, never mind take part in other hobbies. -

so, at what point do we ask if this can be fixed? and what would we (or even I) need to do?
[/ QUOTE ]
Errr, bumping is against forum rules you know.
Anyway, what you can do is look at the devs longingly with puppy-dog eyes. They've got NO obligation to fix this one at all as it isn't really a game feature. I think it's just a tool that Cryptic put in so they could make some demonstration footage for promotions and for QA purposes. Then they were kind enough to clue us in on it. It will probably get fixed next time they need to do some promotional videos - or maybe we'll get lucky and they'll hand the technology over to a new programmer to help them learn the ropes. -
That would be what the help file is for.
If you want to brave the strange timings in demos, here's how you would do it in a nutshell:
1. Get the demo how you like it. My editor can be used to remove powers/players you don't want in your demo. You can do some pretty sophisticated camera work, too, but it's pretty difficult.
2. Play the demo back using the dump option. When you play back, set it to be at a fixed FPS (say 10). This will make a ton of screenshots. Set the resolution to something low (1024x768 max), too, so you don't end up with a 100 gig movie.
3. Go get VirtualDub. It's a free program and great for making AVI's (which Quicktime should be able to play). Load those pictures and tell VirtualDub that they should each play for one tenth of a second. Stick some music in there, too.
4. Build and save.
The FRAPS method also works fine. Each method has strengths and weaknesses: the discernment of which shall be left as an exercise for the student. -
Yep. Actually it was showing up in Issue 7 but in 8 it got bad. It doesn't matter how you launch the demos, I don't think. You just get bad timing all over the place. Your character does the running animation, stops, THEN slides to the new location. Actually, I need to check the latest patch to see if it still does that.....
(And if it does, I need to update my FAQ.) -
Need some action shots! Or at least get them out in the open air and out from the character select screen

I can't get either your Demo Launcher or your Demo Editor to work.

Did you get Framework 1.1? There's a link on the page. Framework 2 won't do it, you've got to have 1.1. (You can have both 1.1 and 2 on your PC.) -
Nah, I won't whup up on ya for that. It takes a lot of time and really isn't worth it for lots of things. HOWEVER, you will be whupped around for doing a Port Oakes video and never going to the fort with the ghost traps! Oh Blues how COULD you!!?
-
You don't need the editor. That's only for touchup. Might want to read my Screenshot/Demo FAQ and get my Demolauncher. Though I'm afraid demos are in not-so-good shape in Issue 8.
To make a video you can actually turn in, well, what format is required? -

I was ready to commit murder when I found that one.

Or you could have switched to Visual Basic and become a much more sane person, like me! <sick grin> -
Use your math! (And that would be MY proof-of-concept video. MercyKilling's is better by far, but mine has a cooler start. )
Oooo, 5000th post! -

I think it would probably be easier just to do a demorecord and then Fraps that, if he wanted to just film in-game video. See Zloth's guide and demoeditor for more.

Uhhh, well, yeah.... about that....
Demos are currently pretty bad off. Animations and effects just don't link up most of the time so you get a laughable mess when fighting breaks out. Your character will start running in place, stop running, then slide to the correct position a few seconds later.
Anyway, one thing I found with my demos, AV/GM fights tend to be real dull. They may be great fun to play but they aren't good television. There's a mass of people standing around some enemy blasting him over and over and over and.... Unless something dramatic happens in the battle (like a team wipe and recovery), it's terrible dull. Fights with a lot of movement are much better. -

Recorded it just today (rolling the camera around for some better shots - a practice that gets me killed pretty often ) and played it back with screenshot dump. I cranked it up to about 15fps so my hard drive filled up by the end. The timing actually seemed fine in this one, no issues at all!
P.S. Hmm, looks like Imageshack is having some issues tonight. Hopefully the images will work right again soon. -
-
And the forum lag is getting seriously nasty, too. Hopefully the Guides section and forum stickies will be saved.
OMG, I hope somebody saved the Ascendant-O's! -
Not only is the juggle still in, it STICKS! I took quite a few "swings" while still just juggling. Started a topic on it in the Test forum. I also got the chest beat once when I did a taunt while still juggling.

I like! Hmmm, I wonder if you used the full Arial Unicode font if you would be able to use all the characters?

Wee Bit Slows little green arrow on your map just tends to meander around, turning to and fro. Youll double-check it, but that character is actually level 50.

Did you check to see if the WBS was stuck trying to turn at the top of a ramp? It's possible one of the NPC's from a Mayhem mission escaped P.I. and joined your team. -
BTW, even if you aren't interested in the Shadow Shard at all, it's worth poking your nose in and doing the General's first few missions. When you get into the 40's you get a ton of Portal Corps missions so he's a very convenient place to sell your enhancers. Prices are the same (i.e. terrible) as the PI store.

Just making sure this thread doesn't go bye-bye with the Great Purge coming on Monday.
The guide could use a little updating, though. Or maybe it would be best to get Vista out the door then do an update? Or maybe update this one now and make a Vista version later? Or is Vista going to be that different with respect to CoX? -
What if, instead of putting the articles on a Wiki, we just put the guide-to-guides on the Wiki and had them point to the corresponding topic on this board?

'Inventing XP' would be insane and possibly illegal in some states: but knowing you could is awesome.
P.S. Jay would need to be consulted as to whether red was actually the sexiest possible color.
