Ex is correct. We datamined how many names would get freed up by doing the purge at every level. After level 5, the amount of names freed up drops noticably on every server. There are a LOT of names being "camped" by inactive accounts on characters under level 5.

Sure, it doesn't take a lot of effort to get past level 5. But in the case of name campers, it looks like they didn't even put in that amount of effort on those characters. They simply made a level 1 character with the name and called it a day, or played a tad and got a level or 2.

and thats part of the problem going forward...lots of active players who camped names...all they need to do now is get those camped to level 6....I'd really really really like to see a level 20.....

Interesting all the debate, and a red name saying towers have unlimited range.

Our SG ran STF 2x this weekend.

The first run was an interesting team mix:

3 defender empaths
1 defender rad/rad
1 dm/regen scrapper
1 AR/dev blaster
1 stone/stone tank
1 fire/axe tank

We cleared one side of the ramps and pulled the AVs one by one. Used Shivans on GW just to take her down faster.

We didn't pull LR to the boat - pulled him to a cubby hole before the ramp, across from the towers. Unleashed 5-6 shivans 2x (he killed the first spawn right away) and he went down in a reasonable amount of time.

total time for the SG, with many it being first time, was 3 hours, so we where pleased.

Having been on more than a few of the STF's with CMA, i can verify that the buffs on LR do indeed drop if you can get him away from the towers, at least playing on Pinnacle and Guardian.
I wouldn't be expecting this loophole to last forever, but no point in not exploiting it while it's still there.

ask one more time, or hundred. Thats usually a direct target for more TJ. The one time I asked that I got ridicule back. (from one of the main whiners, oddly nuff) Ignore it and it usually goes away.

I love 3 slotted swift though for my melee alts, and miss mucho the days when my stoned tanki had 6 slotted swift - unsupressed, no endurance movement buff. I am very annoyed, as I have many alts with 2-3 slotted swift, that I can't put run IO sets in swift.

and Ex, to clarify, I don't mean this as any insult to your efforts, since now dozens of people are walking on eggshells, ( being a red named post, people from all other server forums are reading this). People who know me clearly know I don't brown nose - but I think you have tried amazingly well here with your intent.

But when I see how much effort you have personally expended in your carefully written posts, and how carefully worded and how much drama and attention exists here *for nothing really* it makes me frankly sad.

- it really shouldn't matter this much
- I come back to again so many more places (that I also frequent) could use this kind of attention.

All of us - Go do volunteer work somewhere or just level an alt or read a book, or walk your critter, or ANY FREAKIN THING. In the big scheme of things this is silly. and even in the small contrived gaming universe, this is really....well...silly. I spend my time mixed across multiple server forums (branching out really isn't evil, blasphemy as that is to some) as well as a lot on the AT forums.....if anything, we should have a gold star, not now TWO neon lit red named threads.

There is no doubt the Protector forum crowd is one of the better communities. ( I don't frequent them all, so no I won't be egocentric enough to insist we are the best.)

Whats sad is some of the other servers who have a really great player base - and home of some of the CoH 'greats' and writers, has a total lack of teaming and help community - very little posting of activities - and people who attempt to start new SGs, move to the server etc are constantly beat on to the point where
the best players and new players simply give up.

Intervention rarely occurs, as do flagging posts for modding.
Yet in our forum, which looks like Mother Teresa in comparison, we have red name intervention.

Sorry, but to me that merits attention far more than our 'problem' where people like to flag posts and PM - usually when its someone not in their 'camp'

what's ironic is most of the people who complain, and likely PM about TJ - do it on occasion as well. In fact one of the more verbal ones made a point to laugh at a request a whiles back to stop, with a snide insulting remark.

Protector forum in general, as Vega pointed out, is far more friendly than some of the others. Frankly effort could be spent fixing things and places far more broken.
