Actually, Goat, when they launched they were a major selling point for CoV (at least if you went by what was printed on the box). Base raids and Items of Power. Woo-Hoo!

But the programmer they hired for this part of the game borked them up with baffling design flaws, nigh-insurmountable bugs, and a head-shakingly clunky interface. And then he left. (Or was he fired? I would have fired him. Whatever, he’s gone now.)

I love my little private SG base (click on my sig to see it). But I highly doubt we will ever get anything more for them. Not even dead-easy things like floor patterns with bottoms or simple geometric shapes for combining into different things.

Yoy know, Cherry, I wouldn't think, just by looking at it, that a thread titled "The Winter Event is Nearly Upon Us" (started several days ago) would necessairly cover the topic of not being able to log in after today's patch.

Or are you saying that all of us should read each and every post in every thread in the "news and announcements" section?

I was on earlier today, after the patch. Tried logging in this evening and I'm getting the "No Response" message.

Ah. So then my plan to abduct all corporate and government criminals and abusers of power and put them on a remote island somewhere to devour one another meets with your approval then.

Depends on one's definition of the word "criminal."

To me the worst criminals are those in power who use it to gratify themselves or enrich themselves while instituting policies that are destructive to the planet and its inhabitants in the long run. I'm not just talking about government leaders, but also those in control of mega-corporations. Not all of them are criminals, but the ones who are can be incredibly destructive to the lives of hundreds of millions.

Of course, the local criminals (murders, serial rapists, child molesters, slave-owners, etc.) also need to be dealt with. And I think that the resources currently being used to house and feed them can be put to better use.

Maybe I really wouldn't be so extreme as to summarily execute thousands of people. But I would deal with them in some way. Otherwise even the most heroic saving of lives and property would amount to nothing more than spritzing a smoking curtain with a plant-mister while the house around you is on fire.

Maybe I'd just pick out a decent-sized island in some remote area and do an "Escape from New York" scenario. Put all the human predators there, give them periodic food shipments, and let them prey on each other for the rest of their lives.

Bloodbath, yes. Insane, no.

In my opinion, the world would be a far, far better place if the human predators were removed. I'm talking predators who kill, and r4pe, yes. but also those who manipulate governments and businesses and economic systems to enrich themselves to insane levels while harming all of the rest of society.

And really, after the first few hundred or so, the rest would get the idea. And for those that didn't, well, problem easily solved.

This is exactly right. And if I had super powers, I'd use them to help others.

Serial killers would be summarily executed. And so would be unrepentant child molesters. The guys who tanked the economy with their greed and irresponsible banking behavior will be hung from a gallows in the center of Wall Street. So will anyone who steels more than $1 million through ponzi schemes.

Bin Laden and his lieutenants and anyone who gives money knowingly to Al Qaeda - dead.

Those guys who send out scam Nigerian Oil Minister Widow emails (and others of their ilk) would be given notice on the public airwaves that they need to stop IMMEDIATELY. After 48 hours, anyone running such scam will be summarily executed.

Any world leader who starts a war will die. Anyone who orders the assignation of anyone else will die.

I may go easy on corrupt cops and city officials (depending on severity of corruption). They may just end up losing limbs.


The end result will be a hell of a lot of benefit to the poor, powerless, and disenfranchised. But it won’t be pretty.
